Set in modern-day Los Angeles, Bel-Air reimagines the iconic culture-defining ’90s sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air through a new, dramatic take on Will’s complicated journey from the streets of West Philadelphia to the gated mansions of Bel-Air. As these two worlds collide, Will reckons with the power of second chances while navigating the conflicts, emotions, and biases of a world far different from the only one he’s ever known.

Bel-Air is produced by Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group and Westbrook Studios. Carla Banks Waddles serves as showrunner, writer and executive producer.

The NBCUniversal-owned streamer has renewed Bel-Air — a dramatic take on Will Smith’s 1990s NBC comedy The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air — for a fourth and final season. The renewal comes about three months after season three concluded.

The series, which counts Smith among its executive producers, grew out of a YouTube video by Morgan Cooper that reimagined the sitcom as a gritty drama. Peacock ran with the idea and gave the project a two-season order in September 2020; Bel-Air premiered in February 2022.

The modern-day drama reimagining of the popular ‘90s sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air has been picked up for a fourth season, which will be its last. According to sources, the final season will consist of eight episodes, fewer than the 10 episodes in each of the first three seasons.

The renewal comes three months after Bel-Air, produced by Universal Television and Westbrook Studios, released its Season 3 finale on Sept. 5. According to sources, it was preceded by behind-the-scenes budget conversations, which could explain the delay. The most recent Season 3 renewal came ahead of the series’ Season 2 finale.

Peacock stepped up in a major way to land Bel-Air in a very competitive situation when the project was taken out in 2020, handing the drama, based on Morgan Cooper’s viral four-minute spec trailer, a two-season pickup.

It was hard to escape from commercials and other ads for Girls Gone Wild in the early 2000s. Long before videos went viral on the internet, the Girls Gone Wild company was the epicenter for “bro culture.” But underneath the surface simmered allegations of sexual exploitation and coercion, and viewers can see the story told from multiple viewpoints in “Girls Gone Wild: The Untold Story,” which premieres on Peacock on Tuesday, Dec. 3. NBC is renegotiating the broadcast rights for the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, which may run as high as $60 million per year, three times the current price of $20 million, The Wall Street Journal reported Monday.

The Peacock network is said to be lining up a deal to keep the parade in place for the next 10 years. In 2023, the traditional live broadcast, which NBC has aired since 1953, drew 30 million viewers.

Reps for NBC and Macy’s did not immediately respond to TheWrap’s request for comment.

In 2023, NBC earned $52 million in advertising for the parade, with the average commercial bringing in $865,000, according to advertising research and data firm Guideline. This year, the average price per spot is nearly $900,000, WSJ reported.

The cost of the production of the parade has also climbed in recent years due to the increase in celebrity appearances and fees, which can run up to six figures. The...

Quincy Jones, the iconic songwriter and producer behind some of Michael Jackson’s greatest hits, has died at the age of 91. His publicist, Arnold Robinson, confirmed that Jones died peacefully at his Bel Air home on Sunday night, surrounded by family.

Quincy Jones, who distinguished himself over the course of a 70-year career in music as an artist, bandleader, composer, arranger and producer, has died. He was 91.

Jones died Sunday night at his home in the Bel Air neighborhood of Los Angeles, according to a statement shared with Variety by his rep Arnold Robinson. A cause of death was not disclosed.

“Tonight, with full but broken hearts, we must share the news of our father and brother Quincy Jones’ passing. Comcast president Mike Cavanaugh did just that on Thursday, using his company’s conference call to discuss its third-quarter earnings as a platform to announce that it was considering spinning off popular cable channels like Bravo, CNBC, MSNBC, and USA Network into their own business, a move that could help Comcast focus more on scaling its streaming service Peacock.

Key Details: Cavanaugh said more specifics about the plan would be available once Comcast reached “firm conclusions. The executive also said Comcast was still on the lookout for potential streaming joint ventures or other partnerships. Other media firms like Wbd have been urged to separate their cable and streaming businesses by analysts.

The NBCUniversal streamer isn’t competing with Netflix and Prime Video in terms of subscribers, but it is slowly moving toward profitability.

John Amos, who has died at the age of 84, will soon be seen in what was to be his final role on NBC’s Suits LA Amos’ passing was announced Tuesday by his son, Kelly Christopher Amos.

Amos had been cast as a guest star in the Suits LA pilot from Aaron Korsh. He played himself as a client at Ted’s (Stephen Amell) law firm who also has a longstanding friendship with Ted.
