Fly Me To The Moon explores a fake moon landing conspiracy during the 1960s Space Race, with NASA hiring a marketing specialist to improve its public image. Scarlett Johansson and Channing Tatum lead a star-studded cast, with Johansson also serving as a producer, in a film full of heart, comedy, and charm. Woody Harrelson's character, Moe, has a unique relationship with Johansson's Kelly, as they both understand each other's motivations and are willing to bend the rules to achieve their goals.
Fly Me To The Moon is set during the heart of the 1960s Space Race as the United States and the Soviet Union try to be the first to the moon. As public support for NASA wanes, the funding is in jeopardy, which spurs NASA to bring in Kelly, a markets specialist, to fix NASA's public image. Ernest Cole: Lost and Found, directed and written by Raoul Peck and narrated by Lakeith Stanfield, invites us into the life and voice of one of South Africa’s influential yet unsung heroes of photojournalism and activism. Through words and imagery, this documentary introduces the world to Ernest Cole, a pioneering freelance photographer whose work captured the brutal realities of South African apartheid and the enduring struggle for freedom.
Ernest Levi Tsoloane Kole, born in 1940 in Eersterust, Pretoria, began his career sweeping floors in a Johannesburg photography studio. He finally broke through when hired by famed Black outlet Drum magazine in the late 1950s. Cole’s lens was unflinching, and his images of the oppressive apartheid state quickly made him a target for the South African government. Through his pictures, he chronicled how racism existed in every facet of daily life and how the intense subjugation forced the Black people...

Fresh off his Best Actor Academy Award nomination for Rustin, Colman Domingo has been busy filling up his slate, with Variety reporting that his next project will see him starring as legendary singer Nat King Cole.
But wait, there’s more! In addition to starring as Nat King Cole, Colmon Domingo will also make his feature directorial debut on the musical biopic project. “I’ve been working on it quietly for a few years,” Domingo told Variety. “It’s something I’m looking forward to putting together with some great partners.” The actor previously co-wrote Lights Out: Nat ‘King’ Cole with Patricia McGregor, a play that premiered at the Geffen Playhouse in 2019.
After getting his start as a Jazz pianist in the 1930s, Cole achieved mainstream success with singles such as Unforgettable, Smile, L-o-v-e, Embraceable You, and many more. He faced a lot of racial discrimination throughout his career, including...

Top 5 Things I love about South Africa:
Brimming with tales of adventure from my trip back last year, I was thrilled to receive the call to do a list of my favorite things. Here’s a little glimpse into a wild and wonderful place I like to call home.
1. Rainbow Nation.
People often think of South Africa in terms of Black and White and forget the myriad shades in between. There are 11 national languages in Sa and a plethora of dialects. Africans from all over the continent live and do business in the blossoming economy, the strongest and most stable in Africa. The birthplace of humanity welcomed all its children home at the 2010 FIFA World Cup. It was thrilling to hear so many different languages and cultures celebrating together in the streets of Johannesburg. It’s not so...

HollywoodNews.com: Indie film hottie Richard de Klerk (“Cole”), whose new “Repeaters” thriller has been widely compared to “Groundhog Day,” tells us that the G-word “did come up on the set and it has to. You can’t argue with Bill Murray and an amazing film. But I think enough time has passed that we can take another look at the premise.”
Certainly “Repeaters” takes the idea of characters caught in a day that repeats over and over — and takes it in an entirely different direction from the 1993 rom com. In “Repeaters,” there are two young men (Dustin Milligan and de Klerk) and a young woman (Amanda Crew) in drug rehab. And, as de Klerk says, “it gets into the whole moral compass of a person.” With all the normal laws of time and society are suspended, will a person act honorably, embrace immorality or completely flip out?...

If you happened to have caught either of Canadian filmmaker Carl Bessai's last two films -- the familial drama 'Mothers & Daughters' or the wrong-side-of-the-tracks romance 'Cole' -- you'd go into his latest, 'Repeaters,' expecting a simple and thoughtful indie drama. Not this time around. Though Bessai does maintain his pensive, character-focused style, he ups the ante to deliver a surprising and often kinetic look at what can happen if your days start repeating, a la 'Groundhog Day.'

The first trailer for Canadian filmmaker Carl Bessai’s (Cole) latest movie, Repeaters, is now online. Something like a cross between Groundhog Day and Trainspotting, this mind-bending thriller tells the story of three young addicts in a rehabilitation center — played by Dustin Milligan, Amanda Crew, and Richard de Klerk — who find themselves repeating the same day over and over again, each responding to the situation in very different, often violent, ways. The movie will debut next week at the 35th Annual Toronto International Film Festival. It does not yet have a U.S. release date.

Ironically, one of the things many of us tend to overlook every year at the Toronto International Film Festival is the line-up of interesting Canadian films. I guess I only have my own biases to blame, but this year there are quite a few intriguing flicks from The Great White North including Bruce McDonald's Trigger [1], Daniel Cockburn's You Are Here [2], and Mike Goldbach's Daydream Nation [3], not to mention Fubar II [4] and this film by Carl Bessai. Repeaters is basically being billed as the concept behind the Bill Murray comedy classic Groundhog Dog re-imagined as an "aggressive, fast-paced thriller." The basic idea is that a group of people in rehab get a one day pass to go back into the world to make amends, only to find that they wake up the next day and relive it all over again. And again. Slowly their behaviour becomes more bold and...

Interesting fact: veteran Canadian director Carl Bessai has had a film featured at Tiff every year since 2006 – Cole (2009), Mothers & Daughters (2008), Normal (2007) and Unnatural & Accidental (2006). This year, he brings a dark, fast-paced thriller to the Festival, Repeaters, starring Dustin Milligan, Amanda Crew, and Richard de Klerk. The story focuses on three young addicts in a rehab centre who attempt to make a path to recovery but live through a strange, eerie repetitiveness in each day. A new trailer popped up today for the film and can be seen below. There’s a little bit too much unrealistic gunfire for our tastes, but it does seem to be loaded with action and thrills.

Cinematical is happy to bring you this exclusive poster for Repeaters, the latest from Canadian indie filmmaker Carl Bessai, to be screened during this year's Toronto International Film Festival. (Full poster after the jump.) Imagine, for a second, if you didn't repeat a mundane Groundhog Day, but rather one singular, terrible day. You aren't alone in the experience -- you have two others with you -- but you find that you have to contend not only with the emotional slap of that same day over and over again, but also with one friend's increasing disconnect from reality.
The film follows three rehab patients who are given a one-day pass to make amends with their families. Kyle (Dustin Milligan, 90210) tries to reconnect with his sister, Sonia (Amanda Crew, Charlie St. Cloud) avoids her ailing dad, who subsequently passes away, and Weeks (Richard de Klerk, Cole) sets off to see his violent father in prison.

I love Carl Bessai. The Canadian film maker is a bit of a superstar on the West Coast, making enough films in a year to rival Bruce McDonald and as Bruce sort of hit his stride with the release of Pontypool (review) (all of a sudden everyone and their mother knows about Bruce), I think Bessai is on the brink of a similar explosion, especially if Repeaters is as good as it looks and sounds and considering that Bessai is only getting better with each new film, I’d say the time to jump on the Bessai love bandwagon is now.
Written by Arne Olsen, Repeaters stars new Bessai regular Richard de Klerk (he appeared in last year’s Cole and also stars in Bessai’s upcoming Fathers&Sons), Dustin Milligan and Amanda Crew as three drug addicts who start experiencing a strange phenomenon while in rehab and no, it...

Among those that I didn't mention in my top ten but could have easily have been there is the omission of Micmacs à tire-larigot (I wasn't sure if Warner Bros. only had domestic rights for France and not world rights), and titles such as Neil Jordan's Ondine, Atom Egoyan's Chloe, Oliver Parker's Dorian Gray, Aaron Schneider's Get Low, Derrick Borte's The Joneses and Michael J. Bassett's Solomon Kane should be generating key interest from the buyers as well. Without further ado, here is the list. We’ve had some complaints about opening this post with the fifth Cylon reveal, so we’ll go ahead and put in some space, although I don’t know how technically something that already happened on the show can be considered a spoiler.
If you haven’t seen Any episodes of BSG this season, there is a big spoiler below that was revealed in the first episode of the current season (it’s already happened, so if you’re caught up on the show, you’re fine.
