Vienna's "Donauplatte", an architecturally modern area of the Austrian capital, was the filming location for 2 weeks from February 01-14, 2022. Several businesses had to close down for two weeks. This was the biggest movie production in Austrian capital since Mission Impossible 5 (2015).
The one-take action sequence during the first act of the film is 21 minutes long, took 4-5 months to rehearse and 29 days to shoot.
Extraction 3 was announced around the time this film debuted mid-June 2023.
Part of the prison scene was filmed in the same location where they shot the opening sequence of Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol (2011) where Tom Cruise goes in to pull Yuri out of the prison.
Golshifteh Farahani, an Iranian-born actor who played the role of Nik, said in an interview that Extraction 2 (2023) had the least visual effects and they did almost all the scenes without stuntmen. She said Team Ka actually parked a rat helicopter on the train.
