Star Wars: The Force Awakens landed in 2015 in a galaxy not so far away, sparking a million fan theories. Who was Rey? Where did she come from? Fans were left asking: Who are her parents? Entered The Rise of Skywalker and J.J. Abrams. It threw a curveball: Rey’s the granddaughter of Emperor Palpatine—the dark side’s Og. But wait—was this revelation just a last-minute scramble by Disney?
Rey’s Origins: Plot Twists & Turns
Let’s rewind to the Force Awakens era when Rey was shrouded in mystery. Was she a Kenobi? A Skywalker? Or just a scavenger with a penchant for desert living? The Last Jedi shook things up by revealing she was “just someone”—a nobody in the grand tapestry of the galaxy. It was a bold move, but Abrams wasn’t done yet.

A friendship ends in tragedy on Accused Season 2 Episode 3.
In the critically acclaimed hit series Accused, Nick Cannon and Patrick J. Adams play strange bedfellows as polar opposite best friends and business partners at a tech company.
But one scandal causes a friendship built on a rocky foundation to crumble, eventually turning fatal.
(Courtesy of Fox)
We had the privilege of catching up with Accused and Suits star Patrick J. Adams to break down that intense hour.
Check it out below!
Obviously, Accused is just such an incredible project to get into. What attracted you to the script and this role?
Well, first of all, just the series as a whole. It’s such a great platform for actors. It was so clear that it’s a show, production, and team that wants to be a venue for bringing in great actors to work on great material. So the company they keep is so wonderful.

High school reunions bring back petty grievances and rivalries as much as they rekindle lost romances and friendships.
Featuring Gibson’s 50th reunion during Murder in a Small Town Season 1 Episode 2 explored many storylines, including the case-of-the-week.
However, it also expanded on Karl and Cassandra’s romance and developed the camaraderie between the newbies on the police force.

When someone snapped photos of Kayla (Malaika Hennie-Hamadi) and Bobby (Greyston Holt) kissing, that was a red flag.
Sneaking around never works, and her husband Ivan (Nathan Witte) confronted her at Molly’s with the photo, so she couldn’t even lie out of it.
The confrontation between the men seemed more heated than usual. Granted, most men are angry if they learn their wives cheat, but the words and punches seemed personal.

“I keep slipping into Valerie Cherish, don’t I?” Meredith Hagner has done plenty of press in her career, particularly for her breakout role in Search Party and the Vacation Friends franchise, but this is the first time she’s sat down for a meal and really rehashed her full biography with a recorder running. She’s concerned she’s trafficking in the same acting cliches as Lisa Kudrow’s famously deluded character in The Comeback.
But the cliches along the 37-year-old’s career path sound novel. They’re almost from another time. She moved to New York from North Carolina after graduating high school on the promise of an unpaid job in a Fringe Fest play. She slept on a hand-me-down hospice bed (with rollers!) that her grandmother had just died in. And, to pay rent on the railroad apartment she shared with a server at cringe tourist trap Jekyll & Hyde Club,...

It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say “eat the rich” can be considered a movie sub-genre of its own these days. Be it The Menu, Triangle of Sadness, Knives Out, or the Academy Award-winning Parasite, the topic of class warfare has been all the rage in modern-day movies. Coup! directed by Austin Stark and Joseph Schuman is a worthy addition to the genre which is getting to the point of fatiguing its audience, but movies like this one are bound to breathe some life into it. This Peter Saarsgard starrer has a delicious twist—it’s set in the year 1918, which is more than a century before our time. But thanks to our own experience with a proper pandemic, a story revolving around the infamous Spanish Flu feels relevant enough. The movie even sneaks in a “punishment if you don’t wear a mask” warning, most likely to jostle...

Kirsten Dunst said she “sobbed like a happy child at Disneyland” when Ruben Östlund cast her to star in The Entertainment System Is Down, the Swedish director’s follow-up to the Oscar-nominated The Triangle of Sadness. “Who doesn’t want to work with Ruben?” the Civil War actress said, speaking at a press event for the film in Cannes.

Ruben Östlund is checking in two new actors for his next feature. Kirsten Dunst and Daniel Brühl are the latest to join the Swedish filmmaker’s The Entertainment System Is Down.

Even after decades of masked killers armed with increasingly ludicrous weapons, cinemagoers still flock to theaters to experience the raw thrills of watching homicidal maniacs hunt the most dangerous game. And while there’s nothing wrong with filmmakers choosing to rely on tried-and-true formulas when depicting classic cat-and-mouse conflicts, the sheer amount of these movies means that horror fans often find themselves wishing for riskier takes on these familiar ideas.
Thankfully, there are some brave filmmakers out there that use of the basic premise of a slasher as a jumping off point to tell more creative stories. A recent example of this is Chris Nash’s highly ambitious In a Violent Nature, a Friday-the-13th-inspired horror film told from the melancholy perspective of the undead killer himself. Creep director Christopher Smith will direct episodes of horror comedy series Video Nasty for BBC Three. Here are the first details:
British director Christopher Smith has made an eclectic range of films, from the tube tunnel terror of Creep to the mind bending time loop thriller Triangle, the historical horror of Black Death to the family fun of Get Santa (an opportune moment to point out that Get Santa is a hugely underappreciated British festive movie). He returned to horror with 2020’s The Banishing, and his next film, Spider Island, looks like it will have a similarly irreverent mix of horror and comedy to his 2006 hit Severance.
According to British Comedy Guide, Smith is also set to direct episodes of Video Nasty, a new horror comedy series for BBC Three.

For those who have watched the 2009 horror film Triangle, the story's events might still need some explaining.
The movie follows Melissa Gorge’s Jess as she gets caught in a nightmarish time loop after boarding an abandoned vessel at sea, with seemingly no way to escape or save the lives of her friends.
It would take a long time to break down the story completely—so let’s attempt to do it as concisely and simply as possible.

I don’t know of many Christmas horror adaptations. Sure, I could probably look at the history of Krampus and piece something together but other than that I’m hard pressed so let me know in the comments what I could cover next holiday season. Winter in general has all sorts of movies and stories that they are based off of. The very first episode of this show was all about The Thing and its source material Who Goes There and now in the middle of winter, at least in Colorado, I think it’s time to look at one of the better vampire properties of the 2000s and a great limited series comic. 30 Days of Night was originally pitched as a movie but when it was turned down, the comic came out and put the author’s name on the map. As is the nature of Hollywood, it...

Marc Webb has closed a deal to direct Skydance’s long-in-development Bermuda Triangle action-adventure titled “Bermuda,” according to an individual with knowledge of the project.
The logline is being kept under wraps.
Although Skydance has been developing “Bermuda” for a while, the current version is still in its initial stages, and no writer is currently attached to it until the WGA strike ends. Webb will consult on the script, but it is not expected to take up co-writing duties.
David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, Don Granger will produce for Skydance. Aimee Rivera will oversee the project for Skydance.
Coming off the hugely successful “Top Gun: Maverick” and “Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One,” Skydance’s live-action film slate includes “Heart of Stone,” “Spy Kids: Armageddon” and “The Old Guard 2” for Netflix as well as “The Family Plan,” “The Gorge,” and “Mayday” for Apple TV+ and “Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part Two.

2020 might have been the year of the time loop movie, but Christopher Smith's 2009 horror film, "Triangle," is one of the best to ever do it. The underseen film has seen a resurgence in popularity as the time loop film as a style of storytelling has expanded beyond classics like "Turn Back The Clock," "The Twilight Zone," and most famously, "Groundhog Day." In "Triangle," a young mother named Jess (Melissa George) is struggling to adjust to raising her autistic son, Tommy (Joshua McIver), on her own. She has a planned day trip on a friend's boat, but strange little coincidences occurring throughout the day start to feel like devastating inevitabilities. As time continues to loop and realities begin to fold in on each other, making sense of the film can feel overwhelming if you're not used to the timey-wimey weirdness of a film like "Triangle."

The retired Rms Queen Mary docked in Long Beach, California is considered one of the most haunted locations in the world — which only somewhat shines through in Gary Shore’s Haunting of the Queen Mary. Any wishes to relive Dark Castle Entertainment levels of production design in Ghost Ship won’t be fulfilled, but that said, Haunting of the Queen Mary is more successful than its brushed-under-the-rug release undersells. Shore and co-writer Tom Vaughan channel the Queen Mary’s grave history for a supernatural infestation that spans decades, complete with atmospheric haunts akin to what’s accomplished in remakes of Thir13en Ghosts or House on Haunted Hill. Proper spookiness prevails, even though the over two-hour length gunks up the film’s gears with subplots that slow momentum.
Alice Eve stars as Anne Calder, who pitches Queen Mary’s Captain Bittner (Dorian Lough) on a virtual 3D tour experience to resurrect the ship’s reputation.

With that date just over a month away, a trailer for Brightwood has arrived online and can be seen in the embed above.
The feature debut of writer/director Dane Elcar, Brightwood has the following synopsis: Jen and Dan’s marriage is on the rocks with Jen seriously thinking about ending it for good. But when the pair go on a jog around a local pond in an attempt to hash things out, they find themselves running in circles as the exit trail vanishes and they repeatedly return to the same spot. With his 2022 film "Triangle of Sadness," Ruben Östlund's characteristically arch satirical sensibilities were applied to the worlds of the ultra-wealthy. As the Swedish filmmaker put it in 2017, he always wants his work to feature some "combination of sociology, stand-up comedy, and horrifying awkward moments." In "Triangle," he gets all three -- and an added bit of masterful gross-out comedy, as patrons of a luxury cruise fall into a bad fit of food poisoning in the chaos of a stormy night aboard. For a director who is fond of disgusted walk-outs, even this scene veers close to too-much territory. Using his intercom, the Captain explains his Communist philosophy all the while.
It's a wild ride from its opening scene, set in the competitive world of male modeling, to its conclusion, in the seemingly isolated jungles of an uncharted island. In the most literal way, all the movie's doing is following...

When Hollywood’s return-to-work agreement expires on April 1, will this be the end of Covid-19 guidelines that have been in place for the past three years?
Sources in the industry believe so and have speculated for weeks that, at the very least, major changes might be coming next month, when the current version of the agreement expires. The deal was last extended in January, loosening protocols when Covid-19 hospital admissions are low.
The Directors Guild of America, SAG-AFTRA, IATSE and the Teamsters and Basic Crafts unions have negotiated the Covid-19 protocols with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP), which represents the studios and streamers in talks with unions, since 2020. AMPTP member companies have been pushing for some time to end the agreement, while unions have advocated to keep some degree of protection for members. (AMPTP declined to comment.)

Oscar nominated-pic “Triangle of Sadness” gives viewers a glimpse into the lives of the super-rich but one of the companies behind the film appears to be less fortunate when it comes to money matters.
Triangle of Sadness Limited, an Spv set up in the U.K. by the film’s producers Philippe Bober and Mike Goodridge to manage the U.K. financing of the film, is set to be liquidated following insolvency proceedings earlier this month.
According to documents filed at U.K. business registrar Companies House, a petition to shut down the company was filed with the London High Court by Hmrc, the British version of the Inland Revenue.
A source said that Hmrc took action because the company’s external accountancy firm, Shipleys, had fallen behind on filing its Vat returns. Triangle of Sadness Limited is also 18 months late in filing separate Companies House accounts.

Bravo’s Vanderpump Rules has released a midseason teaser trailer amidst a love triangle fans are calling “Scandoval,” not to mention the recent announcement that Kristen Doute, who was fired by the series in 2020 over a racist prank against former costar Faith Stowers, will be coming back in Season 10.
“You don’t know what’s going on between us,” cast member Tom Sandoval says to someone during the teaser, which is likely true enough.
The new season of the series had just started airing less than a month ago when it was reported that cast member Sandoval was cheating on his long-time girlfriend Ariana Madix with recently single costar Raquel Leviss. So who didn’t make the cut? There was a bit of an uproar online on Sunday over the late stars who didn’t end up featured in the 2023 Oscars “In Memoriam” segment.
While this year’s tribute to those stars we’ve lost was moving and emotional — featuring a tearful introduction from John Travolta and a powerful performance of “Calling All Angels” by Lennt Kravitz — glaring omission of some big-name stars shook up some viewers at home.

Behold the Oscar nominees who will be competing tonight to take home little gold statuettes. Anne Thompson has revealed her final predictions for who will win, but it’s worth remembering how it is we got here.
The nominations for the 95th Academy Awards were officially announced Tuesday, January 24 via livestream by Oscar winner Riz Ahmed and Allison Williams.
“Everything Everywhere All at Once” led the pack with 11 nominations, including for Best Picture, as well as Director for Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert, and acting nominees for Stephanie Hsu, Jamie Lee Curtis, Ke Huy Quan, and Michelle Yeoh.
In the month and a half since the nominees were unveiled, “Everything Everywhere” has become the unquestioned frontrunner for Best Picture, with also a lock on two of the acting prizes – Yeoh for Best Actress and Quan for Supporting Actor, with both Curtis and Hsu being a possibility in the Supporting Actress race.

Ahead of the European premiere of his psychologically disturbing supernatural thriller, Consecration, at FrightFest Glasgow 2023, director Chris Smith talks about the supernatural side of religion, filming in Scotland, and his encounter with a pregnant sheep.
Chris Smith directing Consecration
Another FrightFest, another Chris Smith movie! Our destinies seem intertwined. Why has FrightFest always been a key component to your release strategy?
I feel very fortunate to have been brought into the FrightFest family. I was very lucky that my first film, Creep, was included and then I got very lucky with the dates of release of my subsequent films. Severance was shown the night before the festival started in 2006 and then of course there was the spectacular Premier for Triangle at the Empire Leicester Square. FrightFest has also shown Black Death and Detour. They didn’t bother with Get Santa but that’s their loss. FrightFest is the best audience for any director.
