Erica Ash, who starred on the Starz dramedy Survivor’s Remorse and the BET series Real Husbands of Hollywood and In Contempt and appeared in dozens of other films and TV shows including Mad TV, has died. She was 46.

Her family confirmed that Ash died after a long cancer battle but didn’t not provide other details. “Erica was an amazing woman and talented entertainer who touched countless lives with her sharp wit, humor and genuine zest for life,” her family said in a statement. “Her memory will live eternally in our hearts.”

Born on September 19, 1977, in Florida, Ash broke out as a regular on the first two seasons of Logo’s The Big Gay Sketch Show in 2006-07 and then Fox’s Mad TV. Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, the sequel to the 2018 blockbuster Aquaman, is one of the most anticipated DC movies of 2023. The film will see Jason Momoa return as Arthur Curry/Aquaman, who must face a new threat that could endanger his underwater kingdom and the surface world. However, the film has also faced several challenges and delays during its production, including three rounds of reshoots and constant test screenings. But this may not be a bad thing, as director James Wan has proven before that he can use reshoots to improve his movies and surprise his audiences.

Jason Blum’s Blumhouse and James Wan’s Atomic Monster are teaming up with Canadian gaming studio Behaviour Interactive to develop its hit horror game “Dead by Daylight” into a feature film.

“In Dead by Daylight, the Behaviour team has created a love letter to the world of horror, building an incredible environment teeming with atmosphere and terrifying villains — perfect for a scary cinematic adaptation,” Wan added. “We’re big fans of the game at Atomic Monster, and are thrilled to be teaming up with Blumhouse to bring this frighteningly visceral world to the big screen.”

A search for the project’s director and screenwriter is currently underway. Blumhouse and Atomic Monster are currently in final negotiations to merge.

Harlivy shippers rejoice — everybody’s favorite supervillain couple is coming back to fight another day. “Harley Quinn” has been renewed for Season 4 at HBO Max.

In addition to the renewal, the streamer also announced that Sarah Peters, who has written for the show since Season 1 and serves as a consulting producer, has been promoted to executive producer and will take over duties as showrunner from creators Justin Halpern and Patrick Schumacker.

“We are ecstatic that HBO Max wants the story of Harley and Ivy to continue,” Halpern and Schumacker said in a statement. “And we are equally thrilled that this next season will be in great hands with Sarah Peters as our showrunner and Ceci Aranovich overseeing animation production, as they have both greatly influenced the show with their brilliance since the beginning.”

The news arrives as “Harley Quinn” continues to air its third season, which has been releasing new episodes on Thursdays.

As of late, the fate of the DC Extended Universe (among many other things) has been in peril thanks to Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav. However, the latest news is relatively tame considering what has happened to projects like "Batgirl," "Batman: Caped Crusader," and "Aquaman: King of Atlantis."

According to Deadline, James Wan's "Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom" requires additional time in post-production, likely due to the recent reshoots, so the highly anticipated sequel's release date has been pushed back yet again to a December 25, 2023 release date, after previously being set for a March 2023 release. Christmas has proven to be profitable for the monarch of the seven seas as the character's 2018 solo outing starring Jason Momoa, Patrick Wilson, and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II collected 335.1 million at the domestic box office and became one of two DC films to gross 1 billion worldwide.

HBO Max continues its baffling decisions regarding its animated programming, with six animated projects no longer making their way to the direct-to-consumer streaming platform, TheWrap has confirmed.

Among the projects that will no longer stream on the platform: “Batman: The Caped Crusader,” from “The Batman” director Matt Reeves, J.J. Abrams and comic book luminary Ed Brubaker; “Did I Do That to the Holidays: A Steve Urkel Story,” an animated “Family Matters” spinoff; and two high-profile “Looney Tunes” features.

While those projects are still in development, some of which are pretty far along, TheWrap has confirmed that “Driftwood,” an original HBO Max animated feature from Victor Courtright, has been fully canceled.

Warner Bros. Discovery’s crusade against its own content continued this week as 37 more titles were unceremoniously pulled from HBO Max. Children’s programming and animated series were hit especially hard following news the company was tamping down efforts in those areas. Reality TV on HBO Max has been similarly decimated, a decision underscored by layoffs in the company’s unscripted division earlier this week.

“As we work toward bringing our content catalogs together under one platform, we will be making changes to the content offering available on both HBO Max and Discovery+,” Warner Bros. Discovery execs explained per Deadline. “That will include the removal of some content from both platforms.”

“At the same time, we’re already starting to bring our content catalogs together like the launch of the new CNN Originals Hub on Discovery+ and a curated collection of Magnolia Network content coming soon to HBO Max,” the statement continued.

Streaming service HBO Max will begin removing up to 36 titles, many of which are originals, from its digital library this week.

Earlier in August, HBO Max removed six film titles and also announced that it would no longer be releasing DC’s “Batgirl” or the animated “Scoob! Holiday Haunt.” The strategy is driven by parent company Warner Bros. Discovery’s plans to combine HBO Max and Discovery+ next summer.

“As we work toward bringing our content catalogs together under one platform, we will be making changes to the content offering available on both HBO Max and discovery+,” HBO Max said in a statement Wednesday. “That will include the removal of some content from both platforms.”

An ongoing story as of late is the impact of the recent merger of Warner Bros Studios and Discovery. The new CEO, David Zaslav, has already made several controversial decisions that are currently being met with criticism. One big note is the canceling of two features that were near completion. DC’s Batgirl, and the animated film Scoob! Holiday Haunt was shelved with no intention of ever being released so the company could claim them as tax write-offs.

Another big money-saving decision was to pull movies and shows from their streaming platform, HBO Max, that were underperforming so they could save on residuals. The company had already silently pulled a few titles — as recent as the pandemic-shot 2021 film, Locked Down. But they have announced the removal of around 40 titles as early as this week.

The streaming service will remove 36 titles from its service this week, including 20 Max originals, according to Variety.

“As we work toward bringing our content catalogs together under one platform, we will be making changes to the content offering available on both HBO Max and discovery+,” the streamer said in a statement Wednesday.

“That will include the removal of some content from both platforms.”

The Max originals losing their home on the service include teen drama Genera+ion, which was canceled last year following a 16-part freshman season.

Close Enough, The Not-Too-Late Show With Elmo, and a wave of reality TV series are also getting the boot.

Summer Camp Island creator Julia Pott is expressing her frustration with HBO Max, whose latest content purge includes the entirety of the beloved animated series’ run — including 20 unreleased episodes.

HBO Max announced Wednesday evening that more than three dozen titles — among them 20 Max Originals, including Cartoon Network transplant Summer Camp Island — would be removed this week, as Warner Bros. Discovery prepares to combine HBO Max and Discovery+ into a single, unified streaming service. Shortly thereafter, Pott took to Twitter to lament the decision.

After Netflix gutted their animation department and canceled a slew of their announced projects back in May, HBO Max appears to have taken the "hold my beer" approach and followed suit by absolutely gutting their own animated offerings on the platform. The streamer has already been quietly removing a number of films and series since the merger between Warner Bros. and Discovery, but today's announcement was an absolute bloodbath, with animated projects taking the brunt of it all. Nearly 40 titles either already have been or will be removed from HBO Max by the end of the week, including 20 HBO Max originals.

HBO Max is pulling another swathe of titles, particularly in the unscripted and animated fields.

It comes after it emerged that the streamer would pull back on those genres ahead of combining the service with Discovery+ next week and laid off a number of staff in these spaces.

It follows the removal of a number of other titles over the past few weeks including Craftopia.

That's a wrap on "Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom." James Wan's highly-anticipated sequel to "Aquaman," which began shooting in London over the summer, is now entering post-production. The 2018 DC comics-based superhero film came in the wake of "Justice League" and earned high praise for its dynamic camerawork and dizzying action sequences (imagine watching a superhero movie and being able to tell who is hitting whom!). Chicago Med doc Brian Tee is moonlighting in the upcoming Amazon Prime series Expats, starring and executive-produced by Nicole Kidman.

Based on Janice Y.K. Lee’s novel The Expatriates, the drama is set against the fabric of Hong Kong and explores “an international community whose lives are bound together forever after a sudden family tragedy,” per the official description. Tee — who remains a series regular on Med, a source confirms to TVLine — will play Clarke, “a devoted husband and father, who has no desire to exchange his expat lifestyle for American suburbia, until his world is upended and he is faced with an impossible choice.

HBO Max has treated us to some first-look footage at "Aquaman: King of Atlantis." Netflix announced that Season 2 of “Gentefied” will premiere on Nov. 10.

The American Ferrera-produced Latinx dramedy series follows three cousins who unite to keep their grandfather’s popular taco shop open amid rising gentrification in their Boyle Heights neighborhood.

Starring Joaquín Cosío, J.J. Soria, Karrie Martin Lachney and Carlos Santos, Season 2 will see the Morales cousins fight to help their Pop stay in the country, all while dealing with new love, new babies and estranged fathers.

Break out the Batman and Wonder Woman cosplay because DC FanDome, a virtual event catered to comic book enthusiasts, is returning this fall.

DC FanDome will take place on Oct. 16 at 10 a.m. Pt and will be available to watch on its official website or via Twitch, YouTube, Facebook and Twitter. The free event gathers stars and creators of DC properties — across feature films, TV series, games and comics — and offers attendees access to breaking news, exclusive trailers and never-before-seen footage of its upcoming projects.

This year’s gathering will showcase footage from a swath of Warner Bros.-produced DC movies, including a new trailer for “The Batman,” starring Robert Pattinson as the Caped Crusader; clips from “DC League of Super-Pets;” behind-the-scenes looks at Jason Momoa in “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom” and Zachary Levi’s “Shazam! Fury of the Gods;” as well as a first-look at Dwayne Johnson in...

Warner Bros has announced what’s in store for their second annual virtual streaming event DC FanDome on Saturday, Oct. 16.

The huge event kicks off at 10 a.m. The event will take place at DCFanDome.com, but also be available on Twitch, YouTube, Facebook and Twitter. Additionally, DC Kids FanDome will launch the same day with a special kid-friendly experience accessed separately at DCKidsFanDome.com.

The second installment of DC FanDome has a date: Warner Bros. and DC Comics’ Covid-era virtual fan convention is happening on Saturday, Oct. 16. And yes, just like last year the whole thing is free to everyone.

DC Fandome 2021 will stream on Twitch, YouTube, Facebook and Twitter as well as on DCFanDome.com. And like the original 2021 event it will feature presentations promoting a range of DC Comics-related movies, TV shows and, of course, comic books.

Warner Bros. Pictures will debut a new trailer for “The Batman,” give the first looks at “Black Adam” and “The Flash,” and offer behind-the-scenes content for “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom” and “Shazam! Fury of the Gods.” And for those who love animals, there will also be something related to “DC League of Super-Pets.”

Meanwhile, Warner Bros. Television will have a farewell tribute to “Supergirl,” celebrate 100 episodes of “DC’s Legends of Tomorrow,” offer previews...

A new Batman animated series has been ordered at HBO Max and Cartoon Network, with “Batman: The Animated Series” co-creator Bruce Timm attached as an executive producer.

“Batman: Caped Crusader” will be executive produced by Timm along with J.J. Abrams and Matt Reeves. It will be produced by Warner Bros. Animation (Wba), Bad Robot Productions, and 6th & Idaho.

“We are beyond excited to be working together to bring this character back, to tell engrossing new stories in Gotham City,” the trio said. “The series will be thrilling, cinematic and evocative of Batman’s noir roots, while diving deeper into the psychology of these iconic characters. We cannot wait to share this new world.”

“Batman: The Animated Series” aired on Fox Kids from 1992-1995 for a total of 85 episodes. Kevin Conroy voiced the Dark Knight in the series, which is one of the most highly-regarded entries in the DC onscreen portfolio thus far.
