I don't know what Critical Role is and I never heard of Vox Machina before finding this on Amazon but it was really excellent, funny, and intriguing. Fans of fantasy will be happy.

.. and that's because only 9 were available at the time.
IThis show is fun, grim, epic and very worth watching if you like fantasy / dark fantasy, a true blast!

I've always felt D&D would make great watching but until now haven't seen anything that captures the magic of role play. This show is the best version of that availabile and it's definitely less dungeoning and dragoning it captures the complexity of storytelling and character well. I actually think the episodes are too short.

I was kind of surprised you can make adult fantasy series. Like aren't these for kids. Now that I see it this seems more rela than kiddish fantasy shows. Has good storyline. Has character building. The animation is awesome. The theme song is really nice. Got elements of humour in it. There are obviously elements to relate to here and there despite being fantasy. You really tear up on few scenes since they are so powerful. You can connect to the characters. This is one of the best series I have ever watched. This never feels kiddish at all. Well, one due to swearing, seems natural. It is exactly how adults would react if such situations arise and they have such powers.
They won't just go and sacrifice their lives.
If you are thinking I am fake praising just watch few episodes. You will get what I am saying.

Definitely recommended. Funny, well written and voice acted. Great show for any fans of D&D or fantasy adventure!
My wife hates anything that's "fantasy land bullstuff", but she thought this show was pretty good and wants to watch it with me.
I hope they keep making them!

This plus Arcane are 2 of the best shows out there. Great writing, the animation fits perfectly and just enough humor to be present but not forced. Takes me back to my days of staying up till 3am drinking mountain dew and throwing dice.

As a fan of Fantasy media AND D&D, I live for content revolving 'round either column and Critical Role's content is no exception to this. At the moment, I'm only on Episode 3 of the first campaign but the reason I'm not in deeper is because...well, the series is hours long and I can't be at my computer all that time.
Regardless, I am happy that I don't have to be 100% familiar with the series' lore to know what's what. At least I know who the main good guys are, who the cast is and when the fun begins. I am so happy that the fans helped make this possible through the Kickstarter all those years ago.
I only hope we'll get more from this than just the two seasons Amazon ordered.
(Side Note: I also wish for the day Fantasy High from Dimension20 and CollegeHumor might be able to follow in CR's footsteps and get their own animated show, even if it is just online)

I had expected an anime style production but it is rather better.
Very much adult orientated in both depiction and course language and it would also appeal to younger audiences if they produced a version suitable for them.

First I have to appreciate the awesome voice acting, back and forth between characters and beautiful animation. Guess thats why the hype was so great around this show. For non D&D fans like me I would say this show is good for binge watching it you are very much into high fantasy. Some negatives in my opinion rushed lore and relentless adult humor which became a annoyance after some time.
Even if you're not a fan of Critical Role, you can absolutely still enjoy this show. It's fun, bawdy, wonderful, and right up your alley. Sit back and enjoy the fantastic characters of Vox Machina!
Season 1 was funny, Season 2 was excellent in Story and Worldbuilding and Season 3 is just bad. What happend? Season 3 pacing is off, the dialogues are bad and cringeworthy, the story jumps between relationship drama and sudden action sequences. And the worst part, it's just the same plotlines and running gags all over again - characters struggle internally with the same issues they struggled in the first season with, its like character development got reset to start it all over again. Then the Romance parts are forced and annoying. Side charcters nobody cares for get backstories and you know by now they dont let any of the main cast die, so everytine its just cliffhanger for the next episode. They do it so often it gets boring, and there are no stakes left. Ot just feelsblike they totally ran out of ideas with season 3 and just went with the romantic relationship parts overboard.

S1 well thought out, methodical everything made sense, great!
S 2 first half, great! Second half it felt very rushed and things started to not make sense.
S3...What in grogs nutsack did I just watch!?! It's the definition of "and then" story telling. Nothing made sense! "We're here, then the plot needs us to go there." "Then this thing happens, and we fight!" Things just happen because the plot needs them to, not b/c they flow organically." Characters say 1 thing then do the opposite 2 minutes later. Additionally, the forced "relationships" got old very quickly. Suddenly, everyone is banging everyone. Very disappointing. This season was like a first draft they wrote in 1 Coke fueled weekend.

Another great show by Amazon that has instantly filled my interest in watching more stuff like Invincible. I got the impression that it was like it, and it beautifully meets my expectations, and exceeds them.
The dialogue is super funny, even though it may get too overly crude, but the legendary voice actors such Liam O'Brian of Gaara and Vincent Law, Gwen Tennyson's Ashley Johnson, and others including Khary Payton (Cyborg, Ezekiel, Aqualad) are making these characters sooo sassy and fun!
I am loving it Soo far, and I hope for Vax and Keyleth romance!

I absolutely love this show! My brother and I have binged both seasons together, and while the first season got better as it went the second season was fantastic all the way through. The voice actors are fantastic, the animation is gorgeous, and the world-building is also top-notch. Worth noting that both my brother and I are avid DnD fans, but you don't have to be to enjoy the show by any means. There are very few inside jokes, and you don't miss anything if they go over your head.
Anyway, highly anticipating the third season, and hopefully several more after the fact. Who knows? Maybe another series about the second campaign, Mighty Nein, as well!

Wow. What fun! Great writing, looks awesome, sounds amazing (the voices, sound effects, music, everything) and the story is fantastic. I won't spoil the end of ep 6, but what a perfect springboard for next season. I just can't say how much I like this and now the only problem will be waiting for another season. I hope it will have more than six episodes. Well done!

First: I am an huge critter from Germany! Normally i dont watch animated series, but with Arcane and OF COURSE The Legend of Vox Machina i am making some exceptions!
IF there would be no Arcane, i would give this show an 10/10, but even as a fan i have to be realistic and an 9/10 is still STELLAR!
The voiceacting is of course the best in the business, the animations are great and i know most of the story, so i know HOW AWESOME it will be.
Especially the character arcs will be one of many reasons to love this show for fantasy and animated series fans.
This show is what DND needed, forget these Boll movies or something like that, this is the new milestone for fantasy series with an classical DND setting. Violence, blood, dirty jokes, swear words and not holding back with "adult stuff"! This is not for kids and that is exactly what i wanted!
I hope a lot of people outside this bubble give it a shot, it is really an really good series and the idea behind all of this are people that dont have profit in their mind, they really CARE and LOVE DND and the story/characters they have created over the years! Enjoy it!

I have been watching anime and cartoons for over 20 years. This is everything it should be. Great story, animation, funny antics, brilliant writing, and perfect voice actors to go along with it. Cannot say any more than what a brilliant series and also not to mention critical role is also spot-on. Old school DND and anime fan. Glad to see this is finally taking over.
Last time I had such vibe from cartoon when saw Castlevania .It's pretty well written show , which has unique characters ,astonishing plot and R-rated content.
Fun D&D cartoon for adults. I'm a casual viewer of CR so I know the characters and Voice actors but it doesn't really matter if you don't. It's loud and brash with lots of swearing and some sex stuff...(Pearl clutchers beware lol)
It is let down by cheap, 'Saturday morning cartoon' animation tbh which can be rather clunky but it's fun and silly so it's not the end of the world. It's certainly not a 10, they are just CR Stan scores. A solid 7 is fare I think.

The Legend of Vox Machina is a decent fantasy series, which is quite rare. The animations look pretty good and the original DnD characters are very recognizable. The writers also managed to get rid of most DnD names and terminology. Overall the series is enjoyable to watch and there is not a lot of competition in this segment which makes Vox Machina special
Sadly, the series has two big issues: 1) The humor.
The crude humor and the amount of it almost ruined the series for me. It is especially bad in the early episodes which are mostly made up of crude humor while the characters are reduced to one or two traits that might be funny to 5year-olds. It is especially egregious with Grog and Scanlan and while Scanland turns into a more complex character, at least every second Grog line is pure stupidity - at no, it is nor appropriate for the character just because he is a low INT barbarian. Low INT does not turn a character into a bumbling idiot.
Both the amount and the crudeness of the humor really takes away from the serious and gritty atmosphere and scenes.
Most of the humor is just F- & S-bombs and stupid one-liners that neither fit the characters nor the situation. I played a game at the beginning of every episode - "how long will it take for a character to drop the F-word?" - answer: never more than a few minutes. So yeah, the humor is very basic and repetitive.
In the original DnD campaign, the humor was much more natural and even sophisticated from time to time. The makers didn't manage to adpot this kind of humor for the series and decided to almost ruin the series with it.
Speaking of the original, the series added a few scenes that reference a scene or a plotline from the original campaign but only with a single line of dialogue or a very short scene which in unsatisfying for fans of the original since the reference usually lacks what made the original good and new watchers wont understand the reference and only get a weird scene shoehorned into another scene.
Sadly the attempts at humor take a lot of the runtime away from more interesting things - like the plot.
2) The rushed and simple plots & scenes.
The original campaign is hundreds of hours long, so it makes sense that the showmakers hat to pick a few plots and scenes to use for the series. Sadly even with this small subset of them, all the plots and scenes feel rushed, especially in season 3. There is no time to generate suspense or dread because we have to resolve the situation in the same episode or the next (or make time for stupid lines in between).
The series was still enjoyable, but very difficult to watch in the first half of season 1, improved with season 2 and got gradually worse over the course of season 3. I am already dreading season 4.

Had potential. Was good enough to watch through. But filled with plot armour, cliches, childish adult humor and too much unnecessary swearing. The characters felt one dimensional. Each one of them reminded me of an uncool teenage boy trying to sound cool.

Nice clean modern anime-style animation that looks great, especially in action! :-) Quirky, irreverent humor with an interesting cast of fantasy characters that are very different from each other, but still have a strong team bond! :-) A little like The Last Airbender / Korra dynamic, just way more adult! :-)
