In the original script for the pilot, Phil was a woman named Phyllis. After auditioning several women for the part and finding no one who was right for the role, the network recommended Leslie Jordan. He auditioned and won everyone over, so the part was rewritten as a man.

Great cast , a warm heart and laughs ...

The format (where Kat talks to the audience intermittently throughout the show ) would be a bit more appreciated if you'd ever watched the original UK version of this show 'Miranda' ... which was a funny show ! This show hasn't quite reached that bar of well-timed British comedy and goofiness yet, but it definitely has potential to do so.

The show has a very good cast in Mayim and 2020's treasure Leslie Jordan, Cheyenne and Swoosie Kurtz etc .... It has heart and and has some laughs. Tighten up the writing and timing and I think it will be even better. I hope FOX gives the show time to find its rhythm!
