The big release this month is undoubtedly Marvel’s Secret Invasion on June 21. Samuel L. Jackson will reprise his hallowed MCU role of Nick Fury to investigate a (secret) Skull invasion in this six-episode series that’s been described as a paranoid thriller. With Emilia Clarke, Cobie Smulders, Ben Mendelsohn, Don Cheadle, and Olivia Colman also involved this could be Marvel’s biggest TV swing since Loki.

Disney+ has been around for awhile now so you should know the deal with these monthly new releases. Sometimes a given month on Disney+ is highlighted by a new Marvel show. Other times it’s a Star Wars show. With its list of new offerings for August 2022, however, Disney+ is pulling off the rare content eclipse: Marvel and Star Wars.

The biggest new arrival this month on Disney+ is undoubtedly She-Hulk: Attorney at Law on Aug. 17. Tatiana Maslany (Orphan Black) stars as Jennifer Walters, a normal human attorney who is somehow embiggified by her cousin Bruce Banner. Disney Television Animation, the animation wing of Disney Branded Television, has upped Douglas Bensimon and Edward Mejia to Vice President of Current Series.

In their new roles, the executives will continue reporting to Khaki Jones, Senior Vice President of Current Series.

Bensimon currently heads up a team that oversees Disney Television Animation’s serialized properties for Disney Channel and Disney+. He also works with Marvel Studios on content geared towards families and kids aged 6-14. Bensimon has been a member of the Disney Television Animation department since 2012, when he got his start as a Current Series assistant and worked his way up through the positions of coordinator, manager and director. He was tapped as executive director of Current Series in 2021, leading projects such as Marvel’s “Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur” for Disney+ and Disney Channel’s “The Ghost and Molly McGee” and “Amphibia.”

Paramount+ has announced its “Peak Screaming” package, which will encompass scary movies, kids shows and originals. Amazon, of course, is releasing four original Blumhouse films this month: Bingo Hell, Black as Night, The Manor and Madres. Peacock may have the largest cache of Halloween goodies, none more tasty than the latest installment of that most seasonally-appropriate of franchises, Halloween Kills. Exclusive: Disney Channel is doubling down on its upcoming animated series The Ghost and Molly McGee. The kids’ network has handed the series a second season renewal ahead of its premiere on October 1.

The pick-up comes as the network adds a list of A-list guest stars to voice the series as well as a number of new series regular voice castings. (You can also see a trailer for the series below.)

Kelsey Grammer, Natasha Rothwell, Greta Gerwig, Yvette Nicole Brown and Jane Lynch are among the names to guest in season one.
