The writers acted like Austin was some small hick town with a diversity issue. Yes, those places exist in Texas. But, speaking from someone who has lived in Houston their whole life, Austin isn't that town, and I doubt you have to reach to places to like Chicago or L.A. to find a trans man or Muslim woman, they very much exist in a thriving, diverse, and blue for that matter, city like Austin. Not saying discrimination can't happen in Austin, terrible people are everywhere, but please for the love of god can t.v. and movie writers please actually go to Texas for once in their damn lives. The desert is in West Texas my dudes, Austin is liberal, I've never heard the spaghetti western accent they think we have, and Houston is considered one of the most diverse cities in the county.

I never watched this show until the episode that followed the Daytona 500. I found the show enjoyable and entertaining. I feel sorry for the neurotic conservative commenters who overthink every issue in a lame attempt to turn it into a divisive political issue.

Well i have to disagree with most of the reviews, i loved it and found it refreshing! You people have to forget politics and just watch it carefully. It aproaches a lot of the tabus thas society still has. The focus on PTSD, cancer and the whole views on sexual and cultural of nowadays is awsome. Disregard all comments and see it at least once ;)

The show is good, but they miss soooo many mistakes with costuming and where items were in previous shots. Just plain lazy editing.
The most recent episode, Owen had on a chain that had a pendant, and between multiple shots he loses the pendant and it reappears in other shots.
This isn't the first time this has happened. In other episodes objects move and change locations or disappear. Or characters suddenly have items in their hands that they didn't have in the previous shot. The continuity team needs to be fired.
Outside of that, Rob Lowe does a great job in his role. I'd love to see them do another crossover with the original 9-1-1. I'd also like to see a little less agenda and more actual fire fighting. The show seems to lean to one side and as of late has really been pushing a particular agenda. We get enough of that with the news, let's see some actual fire fighting and such. The storyline where they thought Owen was an arsonist was great, last season. However, I think there has been a shift at the top and has made it more political than it needs to be.

I don't understand why the IMDb rating is so average to low for this fantastic show. The entire cast is superb including the guest stars and seldom seen characters. The stories are well written and they are exciting and touching, too. I like this show as well as the original 911 but I prefer this one slightly because of the fantastic chemistry between the characters. If you like Chicago Fire or 911, give this show a chance. I think you will be very pleasantly surprised!

I enjoy all the characters they brought together. I don't care that the show has "one of each" as other people have written. It's a tv show and it's entertaining. There's comedy, sadness, some OMG moments, some mystery, and comradery and romance. So maybe the firefighting is not "by the books", but we're not watching it to become firefighters. It might not be as drama filled as the original 911,which I thoroughly enjoy and can't wait to see the new episodes, but it gets my mind off the long work day. Makes me laugh. And don't pick on the dyslexic firefighter. There are more real people in this world that need alternative ways to learn because reading is difficult for them and a written test almost impossible to pass. That doesn't mean they can't learn what they need to know to do a job like firefighting. I myself prefer to see how to do something than just read about it.

Love this show, yeah it's not believable and it's kind of a joke. But it has a storyline. It's not a comparison to the other one, but normally the OG is the best anyway. I love the cast. It's TV people don't be so critical and sit back and enjoy. You voted for Trump and you think this is a joke. Haha. I'm glad I'm Canadian.
More 9-1-1 style stories, but also much weaker than the original show. Rob Lowe plays a typical Rob Lowe character. He is very picky about his looks abd has a beauty regiment. The diverse cast is written to be that way. You got a gay son, large black man, Muslim woman, and hispanic guy. The team was assembled to be diverse because of the city's past of good old boy network.
The shows stories are not quite as strong as the original, but decent enough. Acting is fine except for Liv Tyler. She is awful! Every line is said with the same inflection and delivery. She is easily the worst part of this series.
I'm willing to keep watching this for the time being, but if it gets canned after the first season i won't miss it. Better shows have only lasted one season and i miss them more than I will ever miss this.

Lame writing, predictable plot/dialogue. Overdone attempt to appease every subculture under the sun. Tries way too hard to be inclusive at the expense of being genuine.

I really am enjoying this show. I am intrigued to learn more of each characters stories as the show progresses. Hopefully all these negative nancy reviews wont kill the show. Hoping for a season 2!

Let me put you on notice. If the biggest problem you have with this show is it's inclusivity, YOU are the problem... geez such hateful, stupid people.
This is absolutely what Texas is! And it is an absolutely fun and inspiring show! Witty and warm and has a fantastic cast! There is literally ZERO mention of political affiliations! There is one instance when a character discusses being part of the DACA program and how thankful he is to live in the US. It includes multiple faiths (yes a Texas women does have a prayer meeting but a Muslim woman also deserves respect for her hijab!) And a strong healthy marriage and supportive friendships (yes trans people do exist, and interracial marriage has been a thing for like ever, and Austin PRIDE is one of the largest in the nation) I was born and raised in El Paso, I am a proud Texas Tech Red Raider, I have called Lubbock Amarillo and Canyon home! I've walked the River Walk too many times to count and I make the drive to Dallas and Austin at least once a year to see family, I know my Lone Star State and this is most definitely it! Texas is diverse and it is inclusive and it does still have some idiots living in the "Giant" area! So I guess those are the people leaving bad reviews!

I am a huge 9-1-1 fan and have caught up with all available episodes so decided to give this a go. It's definitely on a par with 9-1-1. Yes it's diverse but I don't think it feels forced at all, I think it's a breath of fresh air and every show should aim to be this diverse. Just enough action and personal drama to keep coming back for more.

The entire cast is great, it's funny, it's a tearjerker and just all around a terrific show!

All the reviews made me think this show was horrible but binge watching the first 3 episodes wasn't so bad. I actually like the show and hope that it gets renewed for a 2nd season!!!!!!

First, there is no way you would cross scrubby desert when traveling from New York to Austin. You would come by interstate highway thru the DFW metroplex and down I35 for 4 hours of traffic and towns to get to Austin. No desolate roads!
Also, yes we have accents, very different in different parts of the state, but Austin is more Matthew McConaughey sounding than what was portrayed.
Good show, but please get your details right!

Rob Lowe, who doesn't like him?! And his great hair, LOL! He is classic in this show. I am so glad we got a season 2. I hope we get more seasons too. I know, it's sometimes very cheesy and sometimes dumb, but it's fun! Get's your mind off things and make you feel good, can't ask for more than that. A lifesaver in this pandemic we are having. I look forward to every episode, making a sandwich and just chill out watching, having fun. Check it out!

Sure, it's soapy, but what show like this isn't to one degree or another. Reviewers compare it to the original very fine 911, which is also soapy and can have some weak and lame dialogue along with plenty of wooden acting. I looked through a lot of reviews and one common theme among many of them are a disdain for "Hollywood morals," political correctness, the "liberal agenda", politics, and it's inclusiveness. I'd like to remind these reviewers that no one is forcing them to watch anything from Hollywood. While I don't have cable or satellite, I know most cable services offer all kinds of fruit loop religious fairy tale channels and plenty of hateful, closed-minded, bigoted nonsense channels out there. All they have to do is point themselves in the direction of Fox and go from there. Otherwise, go into either 911s knowing they're not perfect but an easy way to spend an hour.
I like the first 9-1-1 show , but so many shows are already focus on LA , change of scenery is just what I'm looking for . While you can find the same stuff why you love the first one , yet it's not a complete copy , it has some other direction to explore. I originally thought Rob Lowe was not right for this role , but after two episodes, he is the definitely the new captain we need !

The hand-wringing in the comments over the "liberal agenda" on the show is a bit over-the-top. It's Hollywood. It shouldn't be taken all that seriously. I mean, they also created Sharknado.
That said, if you can get past Liv Tyler's voice, the show is mildly entertaining. If you are looking for high art or conservative values, then maybe you should look elsewhere.

It's nice sometimes to come home from teaching my students or a shift at the fire department to watch something a little cheesy and 100x more dramatic than real life, rather than something hard hitting and cinematic like I watch on Netflix or HBO. The characters are engaging and the storylines are absolutely ridiculous and I love it. As a queer woman who is an emt for a rural fire department, this was a breath of fresh air to see some idealized representation in a field where that's not always the case. Each medical case is wild, and they give really bizarre medical care that would definitely get the medics fired every episode. But after having a dozen old ladies with abdominal pain at work, I don't mind coming home to some ridiculousness. Overall, it's what you might expect from a first responder network tv show, and I think it really delivers in its genre. I'm fully engaged and often get choked up. It's a solid 8/10 for me!

Yes, I am a schmaltzy 74 year old male! This episode was perfect in so many ways. I judge acting by believability .... the entire cast was fully believable! Raw emotions that conveyed to viewers. Awesome special effects. Great writing and story lines!
One personal comment: I love the view of mankind portrayed in both 9 1 1 series. All flavors of people working and living together without mindless bigotry. I truly wish the makers of 9 1 1 could wrap the planet in their script concept, but I fear that it wouldn't help because humanity is too flawed!
