The RoboCop franchise kicked off in 1987, and while neither the sequels nor 2014's reboot managed to live up to that cult classic, interest in the franchise among fans remains high. The gloriously ultraviolent RoboCop: Rogue City video game is proof of that!

Metal Gear Solid may be one of the most iconic game series of all time, but it has been a while since fans got any kind of new or original content from it.
Since the upcoming Mgs Delta: Snake Eater is also set to be a remake of the similarly titled 2004 game, it does not seem like the community will be getting a fresh story from the franchise any time soon, and considering how the last installment, Mgs V: The Phantom Pain, was released nearly nine years ago in 2015, the fanbase’s hopes are not exactly too high.
However, RoboCop: Rogue City‘s unexpected success just last year may have ignited something in the gaming industry: what if other 80s action flicks also got adapted into video games?

If you were hoping for some postlaunch content for RoboCop: Rogue City, you’ve got your wish. Developer Teyon has announced a new update that adds a New Game+ mode for Rogue City, alongside a new difficulty setting.
As you might expect, the New Game+ mode allows you to replay a completed run of Rogue City with all of your previously unlocked skills and Auto-9 upgrades, for the full “invincible robotic law enforcement officer” experience. Not only that, but you also get a Golden Auto-9 skin for your new run, and more chips and boards for upgrading the Auto-9.
To unlock the mode, just finish the game after the update is applied. You can do this by reloading a save made just before completing the game. Once done, a new save file will be created, and loading it will grant you access to the new mode.

2023 was one hell of a year for games. The sky was the limit when it came to diverse releases. It was also a year of innovation. Whether it be revisiting a classic and updating it for modern audiences, fixing broken promises with grand reworkings, or delivering unique experiences.
This year is honestly one I’ll never forget and I was honored to bring you constant reviews of the latest releases. The time has come now to recognize the ones that stood out most to me; the best of the best. The cream of the crop. These are the top 10 best games of the year.
10) RoboCop: Rogue City
Robocop: Rogue City is by no means a perfect game. A lot of the mechanics are shallow. The gameplay gets repetitive. The small open hubs aren’t too explorable. Some of the writing is shoddy. So why is it on this list? Well,...

Still haven’t checked out RoboCop: Rogue City yet? Nacon has revealed that since the game’s launch on November 2nd, Rogue City has become the publisher’s best ever launch. Per a new press release and new Accolades trailer, RoboCop: Rogue City garnered over 435,000 players in the space of 2 weeks, and racked up 2.7 million active game sessions. That’s on top of earning 92% positive reviews on Steam.
According to Nacon CEO Alain Falc, Rogue City has exceeded the publisher’s expectations. “We are really proud to have been able to work with the studio Teyon on this game created by and for RoboCop die-hards. We would also like to thank MGM for the trust they placed in us throughout this collaboration, as well as all the players who have contributed to making this release such a great success.”

Paul Verhoeven’s 1987 film RoboCop has withstood the test of time. A whip-smart satire of the police industrial complex and capitalism, it has a unique and grimy flavor that’s rarely been replicated. And the premise of normal police officer Alex Murphy being turned into an unstoppable crime-stopping machine has an appeal that feels tailor made for video games. Years have passed and the RoboCop franchise has received numerous video game adaptations that range from arcade side scrollers to fighting games. Yet none have captured the feeling of the original film and the balance of style and substance it carried. None have ever made the player truly feel like a one-man war on crime in the streets of Detroit. None have ever really felt like RoboCop.
I’m wildly pleased to say that RoboCop: Rogue City changes all of that.

RoboCop: Rogue City is a first-person shooter set between the second and third RoboCop movies. Developed by Teyon (Terminator: Resistance), it follows our titular hero (wonderfully voiced by the irreplaceable Peter Weller) as he fights crime in Old Detroit and solves a slowly unraveling mystery. Along the way, RoboCop acquires gear, completes sidequests in vaguely open environments, and earns upgrades via a simple Xp system.
If you checked out towards the end of that description…well, I can’t blame you. The same words could easily describe any number of recent games (and more than a few adaptions). If ever a character was born to headline a video game, it’s RoboCop. His main interaction with the world is through violence, and he’s capable of taking immense punishment from enemy henchmen in the process. As dystopic Detroit’s lone cyborg enforcer, he’s the center of every story, always entrusted with some critical mission. All the little quirks we’ve accepted as inherent to a center-of-the-universe video game protagonist are simply part of his character.
The only problem is that RoboCop isn’t very nimble. He’s unable to crouch or jump, and he can’t move at a pace faster than a brisk stroll. The ideal RoboCop game, then, likely involves the static shootouts of a light gun cabinet. But those are out of fashion, so RoboCop: Rogue City is instead a shooter with light open-world elements, RPG progression, and no shortage of mechanized toddling between quest markers.

RoboCop: Rogue City arrives later this week, and in anticipation, Teyon has released a new live-action trailer for Rogue City that sees RoboCop ride out once again into the streets of Old Detroit to combat crime. The trailer is admittedly a bit more lighthearted than the grittiness that one would expect from RoboCop, and it’s not Derek Mears under the helmet this time or Peter Weller, but hey, it’s fun!
The story for Rogue City takes place between RoboCop 2 and RoboCop 3, and sees RoboCop (played once again by Peter Weller) caught up in the gang violence in Old Detroit. Making matters worse is that the gangs have decided to throw in with the “new guy in town”. Previously unknown to the police, this new figure is behind a rash of disappearances, a variety of brazen crimes of all kinds and the trafficking of Nuke.

Ocp, er, Teyon and publisher Nacon have announced pre-orders for RoboCop: Rogue City, which is currently set for release next month. In addition to the regular edition of Rogue City, there will also be a Deluxe Edition referred to as the Alex Murphy Edition, which will include 48-hour Early Access for the game ahead of its launch.
On top of the Early Access, the Deluxe Edition will include a battle-damaged alternative skin for RoboCop reminiscent of the armor at the end of the first film, the Auto-9 prototype handgun skin and the Ocp shotgun secondary weapon, as well as a digital artbook.
If that’s not enough, if you pre-order the game on either PC or console, you can also get the Vanguard Pack. That includes RoboCop’s blue-tinged armor from RoboCop 2, as well as a pitch-black version of the Auto-9.

We’ll have to wait a little longer before we can start serving the public trust in RoboCop: Rogue City. Developer Teyon took to X/Twitter to announce that the game will be pushed back from its original September release for PC and consoles to a more definitive November 2.
This delay comes after Teyon had shown off a new gameplay trailer, along with several minutes of gameplay footage, at Gamescom last week. Furthermore, no mention of the delay was made last week. The developer also didn’t explain the reasoning for the delay, though given how stacked September and October are with highly-anticipated titles, it’s probably not a stretch to have that as a reason for Rogue City‘s delay.

Teyon has brought their upcoming RoboCop: Rogue City to Gamescom, complete with a brand new gameplay trailer. In addition, IGN has snagged an expanded 16 minutes of gameplay footage for those eager to see Alex Murphy laying down the law that includes an appearance of several Ed-209s.
The Rogue City gameplay trailer opens with the series’ iconic newsbreaks, telling the viewer how crime-ridden Detroit has become. while also questioning how safe it is to put trust in a machine for safety. The trailer then cuts to police psychologist Dr. Olivia Blanche interviewing RoboCop as part of dealing with those officers “suffering from emotional trauma”. Interspersed are quick glimpses of gameplay, showing the player RoboCop’s capabilities in police work, such as tracking a blood trail or sees quick cuts of RoboCop using his cybernetics to follow a blood trail, determining a short circuit and more.

Ahead of its September release, IGN has posted a new hands-on preview for Teyon’s upcoming RoboCop: Rogue City. In addition to 10 minutes of gunplay and blood for longtime fans, IGN has also dropped new details on the first-person shooter that will no doubt please longtime fans.
Among the new details, Rogue City will take place between RoboCop 2 and RoboCop 3, and will consist of a campaign lasting between 20 to 30 hours, with multiple endings and side quests. The game will also allow players the option to uphold the law in a more peaceful manner in certain situations, or go in Auto 9 blazing.
So yes, it won’t all be a “shoot first, ask questions later” affair, as you will have to do some actual police work in some situations by gathering clues and conducting investigations. Furthermore, you’ll have to serve the public trust, which is where the game’s dialogue trees come in.

In addition to the announcement of RoboCop: Rogue City being pushed to September of this year, Nacon Connect also dropped a new gameplay trailer for their WWI psychological horror game, Ad Infinitum. And like Rogue City, developer Hekate’s Ad Infinitum will see a September release after its original release date was set for April 20.
As for the new gameplay trailer, members of the Hekate team narrate the three minute clip of Ad Infinitum, which also serves as a brief history of the project, which essentially started as a student project way back in 2014. The trailer itself takes you inside the mind of a young man who has seemingly become trapped between two realities: one where he explores a seemingly abandoned mansion in Berlin, and the other traps you in the trenches of the First World War.

It may be a while before we see the future of law enforcement roll into theatres, but developer Teyon have good news for RoboCop fans with the announcement that RoboCop: Rogue City will be arriving this September! Not only that, but the developer has released a new gameplay trailer showing the game in action.
Announced during Nacon Connect 2023, Rogue City was originally announced last year for a June 2023 release for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store. Meanwhile, the new trailer sees RoboCop (voiced by original RoboCop actor Peter Weller) patrolling the streets of crime-ridden Detroit, investigating suspected drug trafficking. When "Rocky" hit theaters in 1976, a good portion of the public was enthralled by the sport of boxing. Though some were repulsed by the violent spectacle of two human beings pounding the tar out of each other with eight-ounce gloves, heavyweight title fights drew huge television ratings worldwide, thanks in large part to the prominence of master self-promoter Muhammad Ali. His return to the sport, after being suspended for refusing to serve in the Vietnam War on religious grounds, resulted in a trilogy of unforgettable bouts with Joe Frazier and a rope-a-dope masterpiece against George Foreman. These fights were inspirational displays of intestinal fortitude fueled by searing emotional stakes. To lose the world heavyweight title on a global stage was to suffer a grievous blow to one's pride. Throwing in the towel was unthinkable. The only way Ali, Frazier or Foreman could allow themselves to lose was by knockout or decision.

Juicy, soapy Korean series have been a staple on Netflix for years, but following the “Squid Game” phenomena, audiences around the world can’t get enough of not only the typical K-drama fare but also Korean thrillers and reality series.

“Annette” producer Charles Gillibert is set to produce “Rodeo,” Lola Quivoron’s daring feature debut about a young woman who infiltrates an underground dirt bike community in France.
Quivoron previously directed the short film “Au Loin, Baltimore,” which played at Locarno in 2016 and, co-directed (with Antonia Buresi) “Headshot,” a documentary about today’s youth that aired on Franco-German network Arte.
“Rodeo” shot entirely on the outskirts of Bordeaux, France, and follows a young misfit and small-time thug, Julia, who is fiercely passionate about riding. One summer, she encounters a crew of dirt riders and sets off to infiltrates their male-dominated world, but an accident will compromise her ability to fit in. As its title suggests, “Rodeo” will be packed with action scenes spearheaded by Mathieu Lardot, a stunt expert who’s worked on “Jason Bourne,” “Spectre,” “Rogue City,” “Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan” and “Mission: Impossible – Fallout,” among others.

Gaumont is set to unveil sprawling period thriller “The Colors of Fire,” based on Pierre Lemaitre’s international bestseller.
Directed by Clovis Cornillac, “The Colors of Fire” is headlined by a prestigious cast, including Lea Drucker (pictured), the Cesar-winning actor of “Custody,” as well as Benoit Poelvoorde (“Sink or Swim”), Olivier Gourmet (“Karl Marx”), Fanny Ardant (“DNA”), Alice Isaaz (“Elle”) and Cornillac.
Set for delivery in the second half of 2021, “The Colors of Fire” is budgeted at $16 million — a big budget by French standards — and is being produced in-house by Gaumont, as part of the company’s recent mandate to fully finance and produce select films. The movie is in post and shot entirely in Paris.
Lemaitre, author of “The Colors of Fire,” previously wrote “See You Up There,” whose film adaptation directed by Albert Dupontel won five César Awards and sold more two million theatrical admissions in France.

It’s only fitting that in 2020 — the year of the coronavirus — Netflix’s top titles include stand-up comedies, “sad movies” and “home baking shows.”
The streaming giant released year-end viewing trends on Thursday that also showed that October was the biggest month for comedy consumption, with audiences seeking to quell pre-election anxiety. “Hubie Halloween,” “The Wrong Missy,” “Space Force,” “Holidate” and “Kevin Hart: Zero Fucks Given” were the most popular comedy titles of the year.
In the three weeks following George Floyd’s death at the hands of Minneapolis police, viewing soared for titles that reflected the Black experience: “13th” saw the most growth, with viewing up more than 5,000%. “LA 92,” “Dear White People,” “Time: The Kalief Browder Story” and “American Son” views also skyrocketed.
Netflix users also gravitated toward twice as much romance in 2020 as the year prior, with films “The Kissing Booth 2,” “Princess Switch: Switched Again” and...

Netflix has revealed its most popular non-English language films and TV series in the U.S., with the list containing an interesting mix of titles from Europe, Asia and South America, plus a few surprises.
Spanish-language genre pic The Platform, set in a nightmarish vertical-style prison, tops the list of most-watched movies after being released in March this year, when lockdowns first hit America. Netflix does not tend to reveal specific viewing statistics, and these charts do not include solid numbers, but the company did previously note this one was watched by 56 million households in its first four weeks of release, making the title one of its most watched original movies ever.

France’s exhibitors and distributors are aiming for a quick restart when theaters are allowed to reopen, whenever that may be.
During the first lockdown, which lasted nearly three months, many French distributors took the streaming route, opting to release their films on transactional VOD services and in some cases, sell rights to SVOD platforms such as Amazon or Netflix. But this time around, key distributors like Gaumont, Studiocanal and Le Pacte, who had movies playing when theaters shut down on Oct. 29, told Variety that they’re planning to re-release their pics when cinemas reopen, even if a date is still unknown.
Among the films that will return to theaters are Gaumont’s “Bye Bye Morons,” a black comedy directed by Albert Dupontel; Le Pacte’s “DNA,” directed by Maiwenn; Studiocanal’s “Little Vampire,” an animated feature by Joann Sfar; and comedy “30 Jours Max” from Tarek Boudali.

Despite the plethora of horror and other genre releases that glutted home platforms this week, romance “After We Collided” placed best on VOD charts this weekend. It ranked #1 at both Apple TV and Google Play, both of which rank by transactions.
“Unhinged” is #1 at FandangoNow, which is based on revenue and gives an edge to Premium VOD titles like this $19.99 entry. Cable giant Spectrum still shows the Alec Baldwin-starring mystery “An Imperfect Murder,” which has little action elsewhere, atop its chart.
Surging late on the charts, “The Craft: Legacy” from Blumhouse Prods. and indie director Zoe Lister-Jones performed strongly at $19.99. It likely missed the top spot at FandangoNow because its full-week chart covered four days prior to its Friday release, but still took the #2 spot there. It is #3 at Apple TV and Google Play, despite its higher cost.

Happy Halloween Eve! Before we reach the big day tomorrow, Netflix is celebrating the incoming witching hour by delivering 10 new titles this Friday, October 30th. As you’d expect, the haul is especially spook-centric with a bunch of horror films, both brand new originals and a couple that are a few years old, dropping today. It’s also rich for foreign movies, too, as well as including the latest and final season of a major TV series.
For those who are looking for fresh Halloween-related pics to watch, don’t miss the five from all over the world that debut today. Hidden in Plain Sight is a thriller about a woman who faked her death but still fears that her abusive boyfriend will track her down, while The Day of the Lord is a Spanish language Exorcist-esque chill-fest, Kaali Khuhi is an Indian horror about a young girl who must...

"If something bad happened to me, what would you do?" Netflix has unveiled an official trailer for a French action thriller titled Rogue City, written & directed by Olivier Marchal. Set in the city of Marseille in the South of France, the film is about a "complex case of rivalry between gangs and a group of cops." Caught in the crosshairs of police corruption as well as Marseille's warring gangs, a loyal cop must protect his squad by taking matters into his own hands. Described as a "dark and intense thriller." Starring Lannick Gautry, Stanislas Merhar, Kaaris, David Belle, Jean Reno, Claudia Cardinale, Gérard Lanvin, Patrick Catalifo, Moussa Maaskri, and Catherine Marchal. This film looks like the most cliche and derivative gritty French action thriller, with all the usual cheesy lines and scenes. But damnit - stills looks entertaining. Here's the new official trailer (+ poster) for Olivier Marchal's Rogue City, from...
