One of Adam Sandler's most underrated and divisive comedies is finally returning to streaming this February. Sandler's run of comedies from 1995 to 2008 is nothing short of legendary. Within that time, the actor and writer released Happy Gilmore, The Wedding Singer, The Waterboy, Punch-Drunk-Love, 50 First Dates, The Longest Yard, and You Don't Mess with the Zohan (this writer's personal favorite). But, the film that kicked it all off was Billy Madison, and it's finally coming back to streaming.

Billy Madison arrives on Hulu on Feb. 1; it was directed by Tamra Davis, and co-written by Sandler and Tim Herlihy (Happy Gilmore) and is one of Sandler's most underrated comedies. Released in 1995, the film follows 27-year-old Billy Madison (Sandler) who is set to take over his father's hotel empire. However, his father (Darren McGavin) has one demand before he inherits the fortune: for his son to go back and finish school.

Adam Sandler was the king of comedy when it came to low-budget films for the longest time, but as is the case with industry funnymen who make it big, the actor faced a slew of personal tragedies that took a toll on his physical and mental health.

Happy Gilmore director Dennis Dugan is returning in front of the camera for the Adam Sandler-led Netflix sequel, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

Dugan, who is an executive producer on Happy Gilmore 2, will reprise his role of pro golf tour commissioner Doug Thompson that he originated in the 1996 comedy. Kyle Newacheck is helming the new film that is currently in production and has not yet announced a release date.

Sandler is back as lead character Happy Gilmore, introduced in the original as an unsuccessful hockey player who becomes an unlikely golf sensation, due to his mammoth drives. Christopher McDonald, Julie Bowen and Ben Stiller are among the returning faces from the first movie, while new additions to the cast include Benny Safdie, Bad Bunny, Margaret Qualley and Scott Mescudi, along with cameos from Travis Kelce and golfer John Daly.

The Happy Days star's appearance as Coach Klein was a last-minute favor for Sandler, who reached out to Winkler after the original actor cast for the role didn't show up for production. Frank Coraci's The Waterboy follows Sandler's Bobby Boucher, an awkward waterboy who discovers he has a hidden talent for football and becomes a member of Coach Klein's team. The satirical film was the fourth collaboration between Sandler and director Dennis Dugan. The film was released in 2008 and has some scenes that wouldn’t sit well with the audience today. David E. Diano, a veteran camera operator with credits including Tombstone, The Fast and the Furious, Wedding Crashers and Spider-Man 3, has died. He was 71.

Diano died Jan. 22 at Huntington Hospital in Pasadena of coronary issues after a battle with prostate cancer, his wife, still photographer Gemma Lamana, told The Hollywood Reporter.

Diano served as president of the Society of Camera Operators from 2003-04 before deciding not to run for a second term.

“To write that David was a one-of-a-kind friend to those of us who worked with him would be an understatement,” Soc historical chair Michael Frediani said in a statement. “His kindness, artistry and boyish smile endeared him to countess friends and fellow industry colleagues — and that is what set him apart from many,”

Comic Nick Swardson is following up a disastrous performance in Colorado with a promise to “make it up” to the town where he was escorted from the stage 20 minutes into his stand-up set.

On Sunday at the Vilar Performing Arts Center in Beaver Creek, an admittedly inebriated Swardson, 47, was removed from the stage to the sounds of an angry crowd booing him after he stammered through what appeared to be a nonsensical opening during his headlining appearance. On Tuesday, the Grandma’s Boy actor issued a statement about the incident.

Actor Mike Batayeh passed away at the age of 56 at his home in Michigan on June 1. The cause of death has just been announced as “asphyxia hanging.”

His family originally announced that his cause of death was a “massive heart attack,” but this proved to be untrue. Steve Owens, Batayeh’s manager, also reaffirmed this statement.

His sisters spoke about their brother’s death, “He was a kind, sensitive, intelligent, and gifted soul. This is such a devastating loss of a huge life and Mike will be missed by us and so many people in all parts of the world.”

The police were called after he committed suicide, but it has not been released who called the police. They reported to his apartment on the third floor of his building based on a call for a “possible suicide.”

All that is known about the caller is that they are a male relative of Batayeh.

Mike Batayeh, who portrayed the laundromat manager Dennis Markowski in Breaking Bad and performed comedy sets around the world, has died. He was 52.

The actor died June 1 of a massive heart attack, his family told The Hollywood Reporter.

“It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that my sisters and I announce the passing of our dear brother,” his family wrote in a statement posted to Facebook. “He will be greatly missed by those who loved him and his great ability to bring laughter and joy to so many.”

Batayeh is perhaps best known for his work on Breaking Bad, in which he played the manager of the Lavandería Brillante laundromat. The company served as Gus Fring’s (Giancarlo Esposito) cover for the huge meth lab that Walt (Bryan Cranston) and Jesse (Aaron Paul) used when they worked for the Pollos Hermanos owner/drug kingpin. Free streaming platforms like LG Channels seemingly add new channels all the time. There are more than 1,500 free ad-supported TV (Fast) channels available in the United States alone, and the amount of time consumers spent watching these channels increased in April, despite it normally being a period where TV watching decreases across the industry.

One thing Fast platforms don’t normally offer, however, are a lot of is live sports. But users of the free streaming service LG Channels will see that change this month, as the service is adding several live events to the schedule on the NCAA Championships Channel (channel 100), including tennis, lacrosse, and track and field events from both the NCAA’s Division II and Division III.

Jennifer Aniston has named her favourite Adam Sandler film – and the choice is rather unexpected.

The actor has reunited with the comedian for Murder Mystery 2, a sequel to their comedy that broke streaming records for Netflix in 2019.

Both actors are doing the promotional rounds for the film, which is released later this month.

As part of this, Sandler participated in an interview with The Washington Post, which featured commentary from entertainment figures to have worked with the actor since his rise to fame in the 1990s.

It was for this interview that Aniston selected the Sandler film she thinks is the best.

Recalling being unable to “keep a straight face” when watching the actor, the Friends star said: “Personally, I think You Don’t Mess With the Zohan is one of the funniest movies.”

Alright everyone, we’ve got all the spookies of October out of our system. Time to turn our eye to Hulu’s list of new releases for November 2022 to celebrate a new fall tradition of…hunky male dancers?

That’s right, Hulu’s biggest original title for November 2022 is Welcome to Chippendales on Nov. 22. This limited series stars Kumail Nanjiani (Eternals) as Somen “Steve” Banerjee, the real life founder of the original Chippendales club of exotic male dancers. After hits like The Dropout and Pam & Tommy, Hulu likely has high hopes for this one.

The other big original series of note this month is FX’s Fleishman is in Trouble on Nov. 17. This is based on a 2019 novel of the same name and stars Jesse Eisenberg as the titular Toby Fleischman in crisis. Before that, Hulu is teaming up with ABC for some true crime docuseries like Where is Private Dulaney?...

The Gotham Film & Media Institute will honor Adam Sandler with a Performer Tribute at its annual ceremony, presented by Josh and Benny Safdie, co-writers and directors of the actor’s 2019 crime thriller Uncut Gems.

Nomination for the 32nd annual event will be announced Tuesday at 9 am Pt/12 pm Et. Awards will be handed out Nov. 28 at Cipriani Wall Street in NYC for the first major ceremony of the fall season, which can draw early critical recognition and media attention to indie films and series.

“Adam Sandler’s spectacular performances across some of the most popular films of the past three decades have inspired the community of filmmakers that we represent here at The Gotham time and time again,” said Jeffrey Sharp, Executive Director of The Gotham Film & Media Institute, the awards’ parent organization. “Adam has proven that he is a brilliant talent who can deliver genuine heart and hilarious comedy in any role.

In February of this year Hulu unleashed the true crime limited series “Pam & Tommy.” The Emmy-nominated series prompted audiences to look at the nature of celebrity culture, misogyny, and complicity in the wake of the infamous 1990s sex tape that shaped the internet. This month Robert Siegel, one-half of the creative team that brought “Pam & Tommy” to screens, returns with a similar true-life story: “Welcome to Chippendales.”

“Welcome to Chippendales” follows Somen “Steve” Banerjee’s (Kumail Nanjiani) rise and fall in the adult entertainment industry. Matt Shakman directs the series, with Nanjiani, his wife Emily V. Gordon, co-showrunner and writer Siegel, co-showrunner Jenni Konner, and writer Rajiv Joseph among the executive producers.

Brooks Arthur, the Grammy-winning record producer, engineer and music supervisor behind films such as “The Karate Kid,” died on Oct. 9. He was 86.

Arthur was a highly respected producer who engineered hits such as Neil Diamond’s “Sweet Caroline” and Van Morrison’s “Brown Eyed Girl,” on which he sang backup. He reached the high point of his producing career with Janis Ian’s Grammy-winning 1975 debut album “Between the Lines,” which hit No. 1 on the Billboard album chart.

Throughout his career, Arthur worked with artists including the Grateful Dead, Art Garfunkel, Burt Bacharach, Dusty Springfield, Liza Minnelli and Peggy Lee, and he gathered 20 Grammy nominations — including three wins — as well as an Oscar nod for “Glory of Love” from “The Karate Kid II.”

Exclusive: Rob Schneider (The Wrong Missy) has signed on to star alongside Jake T. Austin and Isabella Gomez in the action-comedy Pledge Trip from director Tracy Boyd, which will go into production in November.

The film centers on three college freshmen who, in a pursuit to belong, take off down a twisted, debauched, pride-busting road to brotherhood. Details as to the role Schneider is playing haven’t been disclosed.

Boyd and Claudia Horaist penned the script from a story by Eric Prokay. Keli Price will produce under his Price Productions banner, along with Howell Upchurch and John M. Netflix is turning Fiona Rosenbloom’s beloved coming-of-age novel “You Are So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah” into a feature film with the help of Hollywood’s favorite mensch, Adam Sandler.

Sandler’s entire family, his teenage daughters Sunny and Sadie and his wife Jackie, will co-star in the movie. Idina Menzel, who played Sandler’s spouse in “Uncut Gems,” will also appear in “You Are So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah,” along with “Saturday Night Live” newcomer Sarah Sherman and “Punch-Drunk Love” actor Luis Guzmán. With “Frozen” star Menzel and “Saturday Night Live” breakout Sherman, the film’s cast will also feature Sandler himself acting alongside his wife Jackie and daughters Sadie and Sunny. Exclusive: LeToya Luckett (Greenleaf), Romeo Miller (Honey) and Keith David (Greenleaf) have signed on to star in the film A Miracle Before Christmas, from writer-director LazRael Lison (#Unknown).

The love story centers on Mercedes Wright (Luckett), a famous, fast-talking relationship therapist who has the answers to fixing everyone else’s marital issues, but is challenged by problems faced with her own husband (Miller), leaning on help from an angel (David) to get past them. Lison and Tatiana Chekhova are producing the film under their Summer House Pictures banner, with Charles F. Porter of Black Bench Productions, and Jasper Cole (Never and Again). Marlon D. Exclusive: Stephen Dorff (Old Henry), John McEnroe (Ocean’s Eight), Gina Gershon (Emily the Criminal) and Luka Sabbat (Grown-ish) have signed on to star alongside Vito Schnabel in the dark comedy The Trainer, which Tony Kaye (American History X) is directing from a script by Schnabel and Jeff Solomon.

The film, heading into production Tuesday after nearly a decade in development, is based on an original story by Schnabel. It unfolds over eight days of sleep-deprived chaos and follows Jack (Schnabel), a down-on-his-luck fitness expert living with his mother in Los Angeles, who takes a maniacal swing at fame and fortune, trying to realize his version of the American dream. Julia Fox, Steven Van Zandt and Taylour Paige are also set to star. Details with regard to the characters the new additions to the cast will be playing have not been disclosed.

Schnabel, Kaye and Jeremy Steckler are producing, with George Paaswell serving as executive producer.

Dorff recently appeared in Potsy Ponciroli’s Western Old Henry, and on Fox’s Deputy. He’s also previously been seen in films including I’ll Find You, Leatherface, The Iceman, Somewhere, Public Enemies, World Trade Center, Cold Creek Manor, Zoolander, Blade and I Shot Andy Warhol. McEnroe, the former pro tennis player, currently narrates Netflix’s coming-of-age comedy series Never Have I Ever. Alec Mapa has signed on to star alongside Alec Baldwin and Kelsey Grammer in an ABC multi-cam comedy series, Variety has learned.

The untitled series revolves around three men who were roommates in their twenties until their warring egos drove them apart. Now, the trio are reuniting decades later for one more run at the lives they’ve always wanted.

Mapa will star as Andre, the third roommate from the old days in New York. A gay man with a highly empathetic nature, he is often called upon to keep the peace between Channing (Baldwin) and London (Grammer), while also attempting to find a romantic and professional success that have so far eluded him.
