Mr. Peabody & Sherman is an animated sci-fi comedy film directed by Rob Minkoff from a screenplay by Craig Wright. Based on the characters from Peabody’s Improbable History by Jay Ward, the 2014 film follows Sherman, a young boy who misuses his scientist father Mr. Peabody’s time machine, and causes the world to go haywire.

A topical historical drama depicting the creation of IVF; a paranoid thriller series starring Colman Domingo; a bracingly original crime musical, and awards contender, from Jacques Audiard; the second part of the final season of Cobra Kai; and a reverential big-screen adaptation of a Pulitzer-winning August Wilson play are some of the highlights among the new films and series hitting Netflix in November.

On Nov. 7, action and mystery drama Outer Banks returns to Netflix. The first half of season four ended with several cliff-hangers for the Pogues, many of which should be resolved, to some degree, in the second half of the season. Over on Kildare Island, Rudy Pankow’s JJ probably gets the biggest bomb dropped on him when he learns that he’s not the son of his alcoholic and abusive father, Luke. The cast have promised “craziness” so expect some more jaw-dropping revelations.

The writing duo of Thomas Lennon and Robert Ben Garant are best known for their work on comedies and family friendly projects: Reno 911!, Taxi (2004), The Pacifier, Herbie: Fully Loaded, Let’s Go to Prison, Balls of Fury, Mr. Peabody & Sherman, Baywatch (2017), Night at the Museum, and Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian. But they’ve also written the horror comedy Hell Baby, and Garant has written the horror films The Veil and Jessabelle. So it’s not entirely off brand to hear that they wrote the initial screenplay for the upcoming horror film The Casket Girls, with Gabrielle Union (Breaking In) on board to star and executive produce.

Ty Burrell won’t be making a comeback to ABC after all. The network officially passed on the pilot for “Forgive & Forget,” a new comedy from Eugene Garcia-Cross and Robin Shorr in which the “Modern Family” actor was set to EP and star.

The news comes as ABC greenlit the Tim Allen-led comedy series “Shifting Gears” to series, meaning the two shows were likely competing for the same slot in the broadcast network’s lineup. “Shifting Gears” will also go through a showrunner change as Mike Scully and Julie Thacker Scully exited.

The axed multicamera series from 20th Television centered around perennial life of the party Hank (Burrell). “After an unexpected diagnosis, Hank reconnects with his responsible adult son Ben in hopes of making new memories together,” according to a logline provided by ABC when the network ordered the pilot in March.

The two-time Emmy-winning Modern Family star has been tapped to star in Forgive and Forget, a multicamera comedy that has been ordered to pilot at the Disney-owned broadcast network.

From writer Eugene Garcia-Cross (The Santa Clauses, Peacock’s Punky Brewster), Forgive and Forget revolves around Hank (Burrell), the perennial life of the party, who, after an unexpected diagnosis, reconnects with his responsible adult son Ben in hopes of making new memories together.

Garcia-Cross, a 2018 graduate of NBC’s Writers on the Verge program, will also exec produce alongside Robin Shorr (Diary of a Future President, The Carmichael Show, Galavant, The Middle), who will serve as showrunner on the potential series. Burrell will also executive produce via his Desert Whale Productions banner. Forgive and Forget is produced by Disney’s 20th Television, the same studio that delivered mega-hit Modern Family.

Netflix UK and Netflix US takes down numerous titles each month without fanfare, meaning that many things on your watchlist could suddenly disappear.

These removals are due to licencing deals coming to an end. Often, the titles make their way back to Netflix in the following year, but sometimes they leave to go to other platforms.

If you were planning on rewatching Martin Scorsese’s mob masterpiece “Goodfellas” in memory of late stars Ray Liotta and Paul Sorvino, you have until August 31 before it leaves Netflix. Scorsese classics “Taxi Driver” and “The Departed” also take a bow at the end of the month.

You also have a limited time to revisit Tom Cruise defying gravity and the speed limit in three “Mission Impossible” movies, as well as Captain Smith going down with the ship in “Titanic,” which sails off the service on August 31 as well.

Jay Ward Productions, owners of beloved animated series including “Rocky & Bullwinkle” and “George of the Jungle,” have inked a wide-ranging deal with kids and family entertainment group WildBrain.

The deal covers distribution, production and licensing of Jay Ward Productions’ portfolio, which also includes “Mr. Peabody & Sherman,” “Dudley Do-Right,” “Super Chicken” and more.

Jay Ward is the legendary animator who created some of the most iconic characters of the 1950s and 60s. He died in 1989 and the rights in the works have since been managed by Jay Ward Productions, which is headed by Ward’s daughter Tiffany Ward while granddaughter Amber Ward is vice president.

As well as adding 788 episodes of Ward animations to its distribution library, including “The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle” and “Dudley Do-Right” the deal will see WildBrain and Jay Ward Productions creating “brand-new content” based on Ward’s work.

Chicago – A couple weeks ago, Netflix released for streaming the new animated film “Arlo the Alligator Boy” and immediately it went to 100% Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes (including a 4.5/5 on this forum). This fresh, delightful and full-of heart “2D” cartoon musical is the product of creator and director Ryan Crego.

Although this is Ryan Crego’s debut animated film, he is a veteran in the industry. He tells the story of his origins in the business on the interview, but his first big break came with Dreamwork’s “Shrek Forever After.” From there he worked on notable film and TV projects such as “Puss in Boots,” “Kung Fu Panther 2.” “Peabody & Sherman,” “Sanjay and Craig,” in addition to voice work on “Rise of the Guardians” and “Turbo.” The characters of Arlo and his friends will break out into their own Netflix series, with a release date yet to come.

Building on a busy month for library expansions, Netflix are now planning to put up a number of new titles this week. In terms of what’s coming from August 10th to August 16th, highlights include four seasons of The Legend of Korra, original movie Project Power, and critical favorites such as Nightcrawler. What, then, can we expect from the streamer in the next few days?

Well, the aforementioned Project Power has been gradually generating buzz over its concept, wherein a drug lord provides users with a product that can temporarily grant superpowers. Set in New Orleans, the Netflix picture stars Jamie Foxx and Joseph Gordon-Levitt, with directing duties falling to Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman. You can catch the trailer for this one up above, with the film arriving on August 14th.

Netflix is adding a seriously impressive line-up of content across August. In a bid to keep you indoors and out of the sun, the streaming giant has got a wide range of titles coming to its library next month, including various highly-anticipated original movies and TV shows, as well as countless beloved films that are being added – or are returning – to the site.

We’ve previously had a couple of updates on what to expect in August, but this is the full official list of everything that’s due on Netflix over the course of next month. As we already knew, some of the highlights include Jamie Foxx superhero vehicle Project Power and the fifth and penultimate season of DC’s Lucifer. Now, however, we can see there’s a lot more to look forward to besides just that.

The first day of August, in particular, brings a whole heap of titles.

Rob Minkoff, director of the original Disney animated classic “The Lion King,” as well as “Stuart Little,” “Stuart Little 2,” and “Mr. Peabody & Sherman,” is attached to direct and co-produce an animated adaptation of beloved children’s book “How Winston Delivered Christmas.”

Written and illustrated by creator Alex T. Smith (“Claude”), “How Winston Delivered Christmas” follows a brave mouse who finds a letter that has been lost on its way to Father Christmas on Christmas Eve, so, with no time to lose, he sets out to deliver it himself in time for Christmas Day.

Kelebek Media (“Wissper”), an independent U.K. production house and global children’s media business focusing on high-end television and film production, has optioned the rights of the property from Macmillan Children’s Books, to develop as specials and series. Wall Street analysts were taking potshots at DreamWorks Animation on Monday after Mr. Peabody & Sherman raked in a lackluster $32.5 million over the weekend, causing the stock to drop 1.4 percent while the S&P 500 was about flat. Stern Agee analyst Vasily Karasyov predicts Peabody will eventually earn $310 million at the global box office, which would translate to an $84 million write-down. On the day I was scheduled to talk to both Lena Headey and Eva Green about their work in "300: Rise Of An Empire," there was also a morning screening of "Mr. Peabody & Sherman." Both of my sons were eager to see that, and that meant they would need to come to the interviews with me as well. As a result, they got a chance to meet Green, and by the time we walked out of that room, both of them had grown full beards and their voices had dropped an octave. Green gives off a powerful feminine vibe in person, and seems well aware of the effect she has on people. It's interesting how similar the roles are that she played in "Dark Shadows" and in "300," right down to a scene that happens in both films. It wouldn't surprise me if she got cast in "300" specifically because of "Dark Shadows.

Shares of DreamWorks Animation fell 4 percent on volume three times higher than average on Wednesday as investors digested news that the company would delay at least one release and lay off employees. The company said late Tuesday that Mr. Peabody & Sherman would be delayed four months, taking the spot previously held by Me & My Shadow, which the company threw back into the development process. DreamWorks Animation has moved back the release date for Mr. Peabody & Sherman to March 7, 2014. Originally scheduled for a Nov. 1 opening, the Twentieth Century Fox-distributed animated film will take over the March slot previously held by Me & My Shadow, which will now return to development. Well, Robert Downey Jr. is certainly making the most of his second shot at A-list glory.
