Pop culture comes to life in St. Louis next month! It’s the Wizard World Comic Con May 22nd through the 24th at America’s Center downtown (701 Convention Plaza – St. Louis, Mo 63101), and boy oh boy, do they have an amazing line-up of guests!
Sure, you got the comic artists and cosplayers, wrestlers, a St. Louis Ram, a Power Ranger, and of course the ubiquitous Walking Dead stars, but what We Are Movie Geeks is most excited about are the celebrities from movies that will be on hand: Horror legend George Romero, Sharknado legend Tara Reid, horror hostess with the mostest (if you know what I mean) Elvira, Guardians Of The Galaxy tough guy Dave Bautista, Henry the serial killer himself Michael Rooker, Do The Right Thing’s ‘Buggin Out’ Giancarlo Esposito. Lord of the Rings Trilogy’s Pippin Billy Boyd, Captain America squeeze Hayley Atwell, and Silent Bob’s buddy Jay aka Jason Mewes.

Who are the stars of tomorrow in TV, film and theatre?
Digital Spy presents its predictions for 2015 - in no particular order, here are seven young actors, writers, comedians and musicians who look destined to make an impression on the world of entertainment this year.
1. Billy Howle
After graduating from the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School in 2013, Billy Howle quickly landed television work in Channel 4's New Worlds and on ITV's Vera.
But the young actor first came to our attention last year with his powerful performance as the troubled James in sorely underrated countryside thriller Glue.
Next up for the talented Howle is a plum role in BBC One's adaptation of Laurie Lee's Cider with Rosie, which is due to be broadcast later in 2015.
2. Hannah Britland
A graduate from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, Hannah Britland launched her television acting career with early roles in Misfits and Skins.

Showtime‘s 2014 series Penny Dreadful is accumulating quite a cast. This latest round of hirings includes one of the most famous of The Doctor’s companions, Billie Piper. Joining the former Rose Tyler are Helen McCrory (Narcissa Malfoy in the Harry Potter movies), Danny Sapani (the Misfit in the first two episodes who became a homicidal maniac), and Simon Russell Beale, who played the Home Secretary in seasons 9 and 10 of British series Mi-5, if you were lucky enough to see that show.
Penny Dreadful will be set in Victorian England, which captures my attention right from the start; toss in Dr. Frankenstein and his creature, Dorian Gray and iconic figures from the novel Dracula, and I am all in. Here’s the casting announcement:

Filming is underway in London on new BBC drama One Night. The four-part series is written by aPaul Smith (Desperadoes) with Spaced star Jessica Hynes and Douglas Hodge (Robin Hood, Mansfield Park) headlining the cast.
They are joined by Georgina Campbell (represented by Bloomfields Management) playing rebellious but bright teenager Rochelle in the 2nd episode and newcomer Billy Matthews (represented by Bwh Agency) who plays 12-year-old Alfie in the final episode. A few hours short of his 13th birthday, after an evening out with his mates, a rite-of-passage event forces him to make the most grown-up decision of his young life.
The opening episode centres around the story of Ted (Douglas Hodge). After years of hard work, Ted's future looks uncertain. On the day he is throwing a barbecue to impress his boss, a teenager from a nearby estate refuses to pick up the litter dropped outside Ted's house and...

It’s the casting fans of The Vampire Diaries have been waiting months for: British actor Joseph Morgan has officially been confirmed as Klaus, the oldest and baddest of the Original vampires. He’ll make his debut on The CW’s top-rated series April 21, which isn’t as far off as it may seem. After next Thursday, the next new episode doesn’t air until April 7. Though Daniel Gillies, who’s kept us entertained as Klaus’ scheming nemesis Elijah, was hoping for someone like Deadwood’s Ian McShane, Morgan’s casting is in line with what exec producers have teased all along.

This season's story on 'The Vampire Diaries' owes much of its mystery to an ancient, powerful vampire named Klaus whom we've yet to meet. But that could change soon, since TVLine is reporting that the show is thisclose to hiring Welsh actor Joseph Morgan to play the coveted role.
Morgan (pictured here with actress Emily VanCamp) is relatively unknown to American audiences, unless you're a longtime BBC America fan or have Anglophile friends who introduced you to the short-lived show 'Hex' about a college-aged witch. (It was ahead of its time, really.)
He's also popped up in movies like 'Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World' and 'Mister Lonely,' and the TV movies 'Mansfield Park' and 'Silent Witness.'

The UK may be struggling to keep up with the rest of the world in the arena of football, but we’re at least producing some top quality actors. Here’s Matthew’s pick of upcoming talent…
In a review I read for the BBC film, Dive, it stated, "It is lucky that, at a time when we are failing miserably to produce young footballers, we are producing such wonderful young actors." I'm not exactly sure why one would make up for the other, but I agree with the assertion. We have some great young actors and our young footballers are rubbish. For me, that's the best way round, though.
Here's a list of ten young British actors whom I expect to be making big moves in the world of entertainment in the near future, if they aren't already. The list is based on some completely subjective criteria such as talent,...

British actress Hayley Atwell has beaten back heavy competition to secure the role of Peggy Carter in the eagerly anticipated and much documented adaptation of Marvel’s Captain America.
Atwell has been cast opposite comic regular Chris Evans (not that one) as the love interest of this favoured superhero in The First Avenger: Captain America due for release in 2011.
The 28-year-old, who has come up through the silky, demure ranks of period drama in Mansfield Park (2007), Brideshead Revisited (2008) and The Duchess (2009), was rumoured as the new the frontrunner after former favourite and British compatriot, Emily Blunt turned the role down. All she then had to do was pip square-smiled pinhead Keira Knightley to the post via a series of rigorous screenings, say Empireonline.com.
With unlimited speculation over The Avengers series seeming limitless, it is reassuring to see some left-field names appointed with sci-fi deity Joss Whedon likely to take control of the franchise.

We were lucky enough to see Descent Part 2 at the World Premiere during Frightfest a month or so ago. It’s not out until 4th December so we’ve still got an age before we can post our review but keep your eyes peeled.
The Descent Part 2 stars Shauna Macdonald, Natalie Mendoza, Krysten Cummings, Anna Skellern, Gavan O’Herlihy (Seven Days of Grace), Joshua Dallas (Ghost Machine, “Doctor Who”) and Douglas Hodge (Mansfield Park).
In the meantime, we have this new Japanese poster (click it to enlarge) which basically sums up the film in one image. It has a lady looking scared, a monster’s face and she’s in a pothole. What else could you want?!
If you want to read our report from the premiere you can check it out here and you can check out the trailer here.

Billie Piper is getting ready to dress up, strip down and get paid to fulfill men's fantasies between the sheets — on screen, at least. In Showtime's Secret Diary of Call Girl, the U.K. native and new mother has her hands full as a high-end escort in London, walking the line between her public persona as Hannah and her private profession, where clients know her as Belle.
Piper, who began her career in England as a pop star, has tackled a range of roles since segueing into acting, from Fanny Price in Mansfield Park to Rose Tyler in Doctor Who. At the start of her second season as Belle (Secret Diary premieres Sunday, Jan. 18/10:30 pm/Et), TVGuide.com caught up with her to find out where Hannah's exploits will pick up, if her character will ever find love and how Piper will bring even more to the show for...

Hayley Atwell has joined the cast of the ITV/AMC remake of cult '60s series The Prisoner. The 26-year-old, a regular in British period dramas (Mansfield Park, the upcoming Brideshead Revisited), told MTV that she will soon jet off to Namibia to work on the six-part series with Sir Ian McKellen and Jim Caviezel. Atwell described the new series as "ambiguous" and reflecting contemporary issues such as security concerns. "It's [about] this guy who gets taken into this village and everyone's got a number, not a name," (more)...

PBS sets Austen 'Masterpiece' six-pack
Jane Austen fans in the U.S. can be grateful for what appears to have been something of a local feud between the U.K.'s ITV and the BBC over filmed versions of the author's English classics. The rush to production over recent years has made it possible for PBS' Masterpiece Theatre to air adaptations of all six of her novels for the first time in what amounts to an Austen festival beginning in January.
Fans in the U.S. have been busily blogging for months with chatter about the upcoming series, The Complete Jane Austen. But full details of the event are now being outlined by U.K. screenwriter Andrew Davies and Masterpiece executive producer Rebecca Eaton, who are on a multicity tour to promote the series and meet sponsors.
Complete Jane Austen offers new productions of Northanger Abbey, Persuasion, Mansfield Park and Sense and Sensibility. The lineup also includes Pride and Prejudice, starring Colin Firth, as well as the version of Emma that stars Kate Beckinsale.
Eaton said the series will include a production that is bound to have scholars of the great 19th century novelist scrutinizing each scene: Austen Regrets, a biopic based on the author's letters.
