Gib mich die Kirsche! - Die 1. deutsche Fußballrolle

This is a "must see" for every fan of (German) Football. The meticulously collected and edited material bespeaks the directors' (Oliver Gieth and Peter Hüls) great love for this sport and German culture of the 1960s and 1970s. It is not only funny and witty, but also has moments of human tragedy and sheer beauty. Divided into chapters such as "Players' Wives", "The Fans" etc. the documentary covers roughly the decade from the beginnings of the German Football League to the World Championchips in Germany in '74. My personal highlights: Werner Kohlmeyer's tears (member of the German '54 World Champion-Team), a player's wife trying to explain the meaning of offside, and the slow-mo footage of Franz Beckenbauer's 'dance' with the ball, to name only a few. This film is not only a "must see", but also a historical document and a homage to the sport itself and the people who love it.
