Thursday Night Live

An announcer (Dave Thomas) introduces Guy, who complains about the tone of the introduction. He then tells us that SCTV comedy will try to be more hip. It starts with a new live comedy sketch show called Thursday Night Live.

The show parodies SNL as well as a recent show called Fridays. Earl Camembert appears as the host, while the audience whoops and shouts at every bad joke he makes. Robin Duke and Tony Rosato appear in the sketch which relies on cursing and drug humor, this would prove to be ironic because both would become SNL cast members in the next year.

Great White North has Doug not hearing Bob because he has his ear muffs on.

Dat's Da Name Of Dat Tune is a game show parody with Rosato doing a Baretta impression.

Bobby Bittman has a TV special with a salute to Texas, Bittman Does Dallas. He sings (badly) Deep In The Heart Of Texas and Abilene. He also tearfully talks about Davy Crockett and the Alamo. He also tries some high kicks with the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders.

There is a hilarious K-tel commercial for a two minute version of Edward Albee's Who's Afraid Of Virginia Woolf with fast talking actors. The K-tel announcer (Dave) plays George while Barbra Streisand (Andrea) plays Martha. Broderick Crawford (Joe Flaherty) and Sandy Duncan (Duke) are Nick and Honey.

Rick Moranis has a funny bit as secretary Guy Friday, he works for powerful business woman Andrea Martin.

Andrea plays Joyce De Half Witt in a Half Legs commercial.

Dave and Rick play Walter Cronkite and David Brinkley in Point/CounterPoint, they discuss alcohol while getting drunk while the credits roll.
