Storyline
Featured review
Disphoria takes a restrained, small-drama approach to the layers of personal trauma visited on a young woman. Director Yaron Shani merges a seamlessly natural style, strong but nuanced performances, and unobtrusive mechanics into an intimate narrative that masterfully projects a detailed past and future for his characters. Yaron Shani is working now on his first feature film, co-written with Scandar Copti, a Palestinian filmmaker ("The Truth"). Their film was a finalist in the Israeli Film Fund, and is expected to be produced as a Palestinian-Israeli-French-Canadian co-production in the winter of 2005-06.
