When the show premiered on MTV Germany in 2006, it was accompanied by a deliberately provocative ad campaign, that included images of a crucified Jesus who laughed while watching TV. It sparked such a controversy that Christian groups and politicians called for a ban of the show before one single episode aired. However, the German TV ratings board FSF couldn't find any reason for censorship and allowed the cartoon to air complete and uncut at an appropriate daytime. MTV also countered the outrage with a special live show, in which a studio audience discussed the hot button topic of satire Vs blasphemy and reviewed the first episode. Afterwards the controversy quickly died out.
