Many of us have faced awkward interactions in public which make us wish for the ground to split in two and give us an escape from the weirdness. Something similar happened to the Gladiator II star when he encountered Ryan Gosling at the BAFTAs.
Paul Mescal recalled sharing an embarrassing moment with the Barbie actor which would make introverts cringe in discomfort. The duo shared eye contact, which the Normal People actor gushed about to his sister, but unfortunately, Gosling heard him. Mescal found it mortifying that the object of his admiration had supposedly overheard his fawning.

Was Ryan Reynolds Mistaken For Ben Affleck? (Photo Credit – Instagram/Wikimedia)
Imagine this: Ryan Reynolds, just trying to grab a slice of pizza in New York, gets mistaken for Ben Affleck. And instead of clearing up the mix-up? He just rolls with it. Why? Well, because he’s Ryan Reynolds and doesn’t play by the rules.
During an appearance on the Dear Hank & John Podcast, Reynolds revealed his secret—he’s been going to the same East Village pizza joint for years, and for all that time, the staff has thought he’s Ben Affleck. “They believe I’m Ben Affleck and I’ve never corrected them,” he confessed.
What’s even better? He doesn’t cash in on it. Nope, there is no special treatment for this “Ben Affleck” at the pizza counter. “I don’t accept anything—like they’re not giving me free pizza based on this factor,...

Was Anne Hathaway not the first pick for The Devil Wears Prada? (Photo Credit – Instagram)
Yep, the role of Andrea “Andy” Sachs almost went to seven other actresses before Hathaway made it her own. During a virtual appearance on RuPaul’s Drag Race, Anne spilled the tea, revealing she was the ninth choice for the part. “I will give you some tea: I was the ninth choice for The Devil Wears Prada. But I got it! Hang in there, never give up,” she told a contestant. And honestly, can you imagine anyone else crushing the role like she did?
So, who was the top pick? Rachel McAdams. Hot off hits like The Notebook and Mean Girls, McAdams was Fox 2000 Pictures’ dream Andrea. But she just wasn’t feeling it. “We offered it to Rachel McAdams three times,” director David Frankel told Entertainment Weekly. “The studio was determined to have her, and...

The Notebook is one of those classic love stories that we’re still obsessed with 20 years later, and that’s in large part thanks to the incredible (and very wealthy) cast.

Many of the movie’s stars have had lengthy, successful careers in Hollywood, and they’ve amassed impressive fortunes over the years.
We got curious and decided to do some digging to see who was the wealthiest star to appear in the movie. We were surprised to see how big of a difference there was between the net worth of first and second place!

Another Grammy nominations clean-sweep for Broadway: For the third consecutive year, all the nominees for Best Musical Theater Album are for Broadway productions. No West End, Off Broadway, regional theater – or 2022 winner TikTok.
The six 2025 Grammy nominees in the theater category are Hell’s Kitchen, Merrily We Roll Along, The Notebook, The Outsiders, Suffs and The Wiz. Four of the shows are still running, though two of those (The Notebook and Suffs) will be closed when the winners are announced in February so would be unable to benefit ticket-wise from the publicity.
This year’s cast album nominations mean that plenty of performers not typically associated with music, or only music, could potentially tick off a box on the long road to Egot status: Daniel Radcliffe, Wayne Brady, Jonathan Groff, Lindsay Mendez, among others.

The genre of horror films has been around for a very long time. Despite shocking and frightening audiences, this genre is very popular, and some filmmakers have made a living by creating horror films, especially after Alfred Hitchcock took the genre to new heights.
Wes Craven, John Carpenter, and George Romero are regarded as classics, but there are also a number of up-and-coming filmmakers who want to make a career in the genre.
One of them is Drew Hancock, whose upcoming sci-fi horror Companion is set to be released early next year, although we’ve just received news that the movie is being pushed back, although not by much.
As Bloody Disgusting reports, Companion has been pushed back from its initial January 10 release date, but it is still going to air in the same month, so everyone who’s expecting to see this movie won’t have to wait much...

“Venom: The Last Dance” held on for a second weekend win at the South Korea theatrical box office. It fended off a decent challenge from local comedy “Amazon Bullseye.”
“Venom” earned $2.21 million in its second full weekend of release, down 48% from (a steeply revised figure of) $4.45 million reported by Kobis, the tracking service operated by the Korean Film Council. Since releasing on Oct 23., “Venom” has built a cumulative total of $9.34 million.
Newly released “Amazon Bullseye” shot $1.45 million over the weekend and $2.37 million over its five-day opening run. Directed by Kim Chang-ju, the film is a comedy about a Korean archery champion who has to learn some humility when a plane crash lands him in the South American jungle and puts him among tribesmen with better bow and arrow skills. The laughs begin when he takes a trio back to Korea.

“Venom: The Last Dance” waltzed to a weekend win in South Korea, but failed to shake the country’s box office out of its recent torpor.
The third film in the “Venom” trilogy earned $2.66 million over the Friday to Sunday period, according to data from Kobis, the tracking service operated by the Korean Film Council (Kofic). That represented a dominant 62% market share.
Over the five days since its opening on Wednesday, it built up a cumulative of $4.13 million. At that pace, the new film will struggle to overtake the $15.2 million total earned by “Venom: Let There Be Carnage” which was released in 2021 during the worst of the Covid pandemic.
That is indicative of a downturn at the Korean box office which is beginning to look like it has become structural. Across the nation, Korean cinema receipts were worth just $4.32 million over the latest weekend. By a narrow margin that was...

Horror, much like comedy, is subjective. But even keeping that in mind, it’s hard to be prepared for The Roots’ James Poyser’s favorite scary movie. Jimmy Fallon was blindsided by the keyboardist’s pick on the latest episode of “The Tonight Show.”
In honor of spooky season, Fallon noted that a new survey found 84% of people watch scary movies around Halloween. “Personally, my favorite is the original ‘Halloween,'” Fallon shared. He then asked the members of “The Tonight Show” house band what their favorite scary movies are.
Most were expected. Black Thought listed “Paranormal Activity,” saying “that one really got me.” Questlove mentioned “Jaws” because “that shark messed me up.” Then it was James Poyser’s turn.
“The scariest movie I’ve ever seen has to be ‘The Notebook,'” he confidently said as the studio audience laughed. The crowd and Fallon may have been giggling, but...

Eva Mendes says the only way that she could be convinced to return to acting is if it’s alongside her husband Ryan Gosling.
It’s been a decade since Mendes stepped away from acting. Her last role was a small part in Gosling’s feature directorial debut Lost River. The actress’ last credit, though, was lending her voice to a 2021 episode of Bluey.
“I was never in love with acting. I don’t mean this in a self-deprecating way, but I wasn’t a great actress. I had my moments when I worked with really great people,” she said in an interview with the U.K.’s Sunday Times.
Mendes says her best work was opposite Gosling in films like Lost River and The Place Beyond the Pines, which is the 2012 film where they first met.
“He gets something out of me that’s never been accessible before,” she said.

With the presidential race slowly approaching its end, Donald Trump recently decided that it would be an incredible idea to spend a day in the life of a minimum wage worker at McDonald’s. The BBC posted a video of the former president cooking up some tasty-looking fries to serve customers while even stating that he liked what he did. Trump also expressed his desire to return to an outlet of the fast-food restaurant and work again.

Plot twist: Ryan Gosling got The Notebook role because he wasn’t “handsome” enough! Director Nick Cassavetes alluded in one interview that he wasn’t the typical heartthrob—just a regular guy who looked “a bit nuts.”
Imagine this: Author Nicholas Sparks couldn’t find an actor willing to play Noah. Why? No one wanted to sign up for a role that’s all about waiting around for love and, spoiler alert, still being in love at the end! Sparks spilled the tea in 2016, saying, “No one wanted to play Noah. They all asked, ‘What’s his arc?’ And I was like, ‘He’s just madly in love, folks, that’s the whole point!'”
Then, like a knight in slightly rumpled armor, in walked Gosling. He wasn’t the textbook handsome,...

Korean-made crime-comedy-thriller “I The Executioner,” a sequel to 2015 hit ‘Veteran,” continued to top South Korea’s weekend box office. Its victory, however, was a hollow one as Korea’s overall box office slumped to its lowest level this year.
Nationwide, Korea’s roughly 2,500 cinemas together earned just $4.39 million between Friday and Sunday.
In several previous years, the month of October has been weak for cinemas in Korea, but the latest weekend total was a lower mid-October mark than either Covid-blighted 2022 or 2023’s recovery year.
The latest figures are in line with some of the gloomy discussion at the recently-concluded Busan International Film Festival, where the difficulties currently faced by theatrical cinema and the companies that supply and distribute it, were major talking points.
“I, The Executioner” earned $1.08 million in its fifth full weekend session, according to data from Kobis, the tracking service operated by the Korean Film Council (Kofic). The...

Suffs, a Broadway musical about the women’s suffrage movement, is closing on Jan. 5, 2025, after about 10 months on Broadway.
The musical, which stars Shaina Taub, who also wrote its book and score, had the backing of Hillary Clinton and Malala Yousafzai, who were both named as producers, and won Tony Awards for the best book and score.
Still, the musical, which opened on Broadway on April 18, has seen a gradual decline in grosses since hitting a high of $942,785.35 in the week ending June 23, which is the week following the Tony Awards. Suffs performed at the ceremony, and took home the two trophies, but did not take home the top prize of best musical.
Attendance has been in the 80 percent to 90 percent capacity range for most weeks of the run, but the higher running costs for Broadway shows make it hard to sustain a show without grosses consistently closer to the $1 million level.

Rachel McAdams is set to reunite with Sam Raimi on his return to the horror genre for the upcoming film Send Help. More here.
At the tail-end of last week, news emerged that stated Sam Raimi had signed a deal to once again work with Marvel Studios, taking on the director’s chair for Doctor Strange 3. As you’ll know, the Evil Dead director made the most recent entry in the series, 2022’s Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness and the film – while very much suffering from typical MCU issues – went on to earn almost a billion dollars at the global box office in an era when that financial benchmark is far from guaranteed.
Rachel McAdams co-starred – and will presumably pop up in the threequel, we’d imagine. However, it looks like Raimi has more plans for the actor, given that The Insneider is reporting that Raimi has cast...

Rachel McAdams is in talks to star in Sam Raimi’s Send Help, the horror-thriller from 20th Century Studios, which he is producing and directing.
Sources tell us that these negotiations are in early stages, and nothing is definite at this point. The news follows Deadline’s exclusive earlier in July, which broke the news that Raimi had boarded the project not officially greenlit by the studio.
Billed as a two-hander horror-thriller set on an island, the story is somewhere between Rob Reiner’s Stephen King adaptation Misery and Robert Zemeckis’ classic Castaway. Send Help is based on an original script by Baywatch scribes Damian Shannon and Mark Swift. Zainab Azizi will also produce under the Raimi Productions banner, and the film is expected to nab a theatrical release.
Disney did not respond to requests for comment.

Movies tend to influence the masses easily, and Rachel McAdams’ Mean Girls character was what took the world by storm. For 20 years, the movie has been a go-to during sleepovers, family nights, or simply if you’re too lazy to get out of bed and work.

And 20 years after the movie’s release, several dialogues from the teen comedy film are still being used by youngsters across the world. If Mean Girls had this much of an impact on society, imagine what it did to McAdams’ career over time.
Rachel McAdams claims Regina George helped her achieve longevity
Rachel McAdams has been in the movie industry for several years, dating back to 2001 when she debuted as Beth Swanson in Shotgun Love Beth. The 45-year-old found a decent amount of success before becoming the face of Regina George on Mean Girls.

Warner Bros. has released the first teaser trailer for an intriguing new sci-fi horror love story(?) titled Companion, which stars Jack Quaid (The Boys) and Sophie Thatcher as a not-so happy couple.
The teaser cleverly puts us at ease with the usual romcom set-up, even noting that the movie comes from the studio that brought us The Notebook. We then see a chef preparing a meal for Quaid and Thatcher's characters, who initially seem to be enjoying each other's company.
Things quickly take a dark turn when it's revealed that Thatcher is handcuffed to her chair, and we're then told that "the unhinged creators of Barbarian" were also involved with bringing the film to the screen.
From here, we get some glimpses of sinister goings-on involving the leads (it definitely looks like they're doing their best to kill each other for some reason), but it's still not clear exactly what's happening.

Zum Schauspielensemble gehören Sophie Thatcher („Yellowjackets“, „The Boogeyman“), Jack Quaid („The Boys“, „Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse“), Lukas Gage („Smile 2 – Siehst Du es auch?“, „Dead Boy Detectives“), Megan Suri („Noch nie in meinem Leben…“, „It Lives Inside“), Harvey Guillén („What We Do in the Shadows“, „Blue Beetle“) und...

Sophie Thatcher is a certified scream queen.
The “Yellowjackets” breakout star has gone on to appear in “The Boogeyman,” act opposite Hugh Grant in A24’s buzzy “Heretic,” and now lead elusive horror-thriller “Companion” alongside Jack Quaid.
“Companion” only has a mysterious faux ad for its tagline, reading, “Hey you. Tired of swiping? Sick of getting ghosted? Are you feeling like a part of you is missing? FindYourCompanion.com is guaranteed to find you a Companion who’s made for you.”
Audiences can also text (978) 878-5683 to find their Companions — and yes, that is a real phone number with data rates applying.
The teaser trailer does show Thatcher seemingly being stalked, chased, and perhaps even murdered, before then getting her hand lit on fire from love interest for Quaid’s character. Lukas Gage, Megan Suri, Harvey Guillén, and Rupert Friend also star.

Sometimes a trailer comes along that's a bit of a surprise, lurking in the peripheral of the hype cycle so that when it drops, it's a refreshing surprise. The teaser trailer for "Companion," from the team behind the 2022 horror hit "Barbarian," is just that kind of trailer. Featuring a sweetly sinister Jack Quaid and a truly terrified Sophie Thatcher, the teaser gives us a look into what could be one of next year's biggest surprise hits. The teaser is delightfully tongue-in-cheek, starting off with, "The studio that brought you 'The Notebook' cordially invites you to experience a new kind of love story," written in elegant cursive script, though it's clear that this movie will be nothing like "The Notebook."
Instead of following Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams on a heart-wrenching love story throughout their lives, it looks like we're going to watch Quaid and Thatcher as he torments her and threatens her,...

Ah, rom-coms! Who could forget those, silly little romances that made our hearts flutter? The ’90s and early 2000s were pure magic for love stories, they really don’t make them like that anymore! Fast forward to the 2010s, and it feels like the genre has taken a nosedive. But why? Sandra Bullock recently spilled the tea on why classic rom-coms seem to have gone Mia.

Terrence Howard spoke about Robert Downey Jr.’s role the Iron Man drama (Photo Credit – Instagram)
According to Howard, the Marvel Studios cash cow didn’t come cheap for everyone involved.
Let’s rewind to the early days of Iron Man. Marvel had their sights set on a different star for the role of Tony Stark. But guess what? Downey Jr. swooped in after the casting team had made their picks, battling the studio’s initial reluctance. Still, he made the cut, and the rest is cinematic history.
Now, Howard’s side of the story is where things get juicy. As the original Rhodey, Howard was making bank—reportedly between $3.5 and $4.5 million, making him the highest-paid star of the film. The deal came with a promise: if Iron Man 2 happened, he’d be back as War Machine with an extra $5 million on the table. Sounds sweet, right?

Ryan Gosling almost suited up as a superhero, and the story behind it is wild! Before joining the Barbie world or serenading us in La La Land, Gosling was eyeing a different kind of role—a superhero flick that once had the Wolverine himself, Hugh Jackman, attached. Yeah, imagine Gosling trading in his smooth, brooding charm for some crime-fighting action.

Ryan Gosling might have undertaken various roles across different genres but fans love him best for his dramatic portrayals in the romantic genre. From the critically acclaimed The Notebook to Crazy, Stupid, Love, Gosling is Hollywood’s typical ‘nice guy’ (and an actual one at that), who seems to shine best in romantic dramas, whether they be comedy or downright agonizing.

One of his most excruciatingly painful yet beautiful romantic films was La La Land opposite Emma Stone. A bittersweet film, some viewers have gone as far as labeling it a ‘horror movie’ for the emotional rollercoaster it was. However, many seem to forget Gosling’s one Indie film that is so brutal that it even makes his Oscar-winning film look like a joyful dream in comparison.
