This two-reel number contains a pleasing blend of mystery, love and adventure. James Oliver Curwood is author of the scenario and Maurice Costello, Mary Charleson and an actor named Raymond play the leads. The latter gave a particularly good representation of Lawlor. the cringing villain of the piece. L. Rogers Lytton, who plays first mate, holds the key to the mystery, which is graphically explained at the close of the second reel. The story is entertaining throughout, but the photography was very dark and foggy in places. - The Moving Picture World, October 18, 1913
