The Batgirl suit worn by Dina Meyer in the series is a repaint of the one worn by Alicia Silverstone in Batman & Robin (1997). Silverstone and Meyer later co-starred in Miss Match (2003).
Batman's suit was recycled from Batman & Robin (1997) - changing the color of the suit from blue to black and adding yellow inside the chest emblem. His cowl was recycled from Batman Forever (1995).
In 2019, the series was retroactively connected to the Arrowverse - the fictional universe shared by Arrow (2012), The Flash (2014), Constantine (2014), Supergirl (2015), Legends of Tomorrow (2016), and Batwoman (2019) - when Ashley Scott reprised the role of Helena Kyle in the "Crisis on Infinite Earths" crossover event. Rachel Skarsten, who played Dinah Lance, also stars on "Batwoman" as the title character's nemesis.
Actor Bruce Thomas, who played Batman in the Batman OnStar commercials, was previously credited as playing the character on the show, but in an interview, he said this was not the case. He also noted that he contacted the Internet Movie Database to correct the error but they never did, as the actor who portrayed Batman in Birds of Prey was yet "to-be-announced" by WB.
The series was cancelled in January 2003, with 11 episodes aired. The producers were, however, allowed to film the final two episodes of their 13-episode commitment, and these episodes aired in February 2003, with the final episode retooled in order to close off the various storylines in the series, an unusual privilege for a cancelled series.
