Unification was a huge moment for Star Trek fans. It was a viral video, that was made in conjunction with the Roddenberry Archive and Paramount, to tell the story of William Shatner's James T. Kirk saying goodbye. However, that wasn't totally made clear in the video. While we saw Kirk seeing old friends like Savik and eventually Spock, the message wans't exactly clear as to what we were seeing.
Was this heaven? Did Kirk get caught up in the Nexus? Who knew? Considering this was supposedly right after his death at the end of Star Trek Generations, either scenario was possible. It certainly felt like Kirk and Shatner were being given one final send-off to say goodbye. But we didn't know for sure.
Now, however, we do know. Not only was this project done to close out Shatner's time with the franchise, apparently, and also done to help say goodbye to Kirk.

Jonathan Majors' Kang was supposed to be the Marvel Cinematic Universe's new Thanos. Loki introduced He Who Remains, the Nathaniel Richards who created the Sacred Timeline. However, when the Multiverse returned, so did his countless Variants.
A war between them loomed, with the end result likely the destruction of everything. Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantuamania, however, made a massive blunder by having Kang the Conqueror - the Variant we expected would be the Multiverse Saga's main villain - defeated by Scott Lang.
As a result, interest in the character quickly started to fade. Even so, Kang's fate wasn't truly sealed until Jonathan Majors was arrested and later convinced of two misdemeanour counts for assaulting his ex-girlfriend Grace Jabbari.
While he was ultimately only sentenced to attend domestic violence counselling, Marvel Studios still decided to part ways with the actor and promptly fired him from the MCU following his initial guilty...

Since ‘Avengers: Endgame,’ the MCU has had its highs and lows. The studio ramped up production, releasing multiple projects each year and diving into a variety of storylines—like the Multiverse, Kang, Shang-Chi’s rings, the Eternals, Celestials, Dane Whitman, and the long-awaited introduction of mutants.
This summer, Marvel and Kevin Feige announced they would wrap up the Multiverse Saga with a big finale. The announcement included Rdj’s return as Dr. Doom and the reveal of ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ and ‘Avengers: Secret Wars,’ which aim to tie together all the Multiverse stories since 2020.
Recently, industry insider Alex Perez shared some insights about what we might see in the saga’s conclusion, as well as what’s next for Dr. Doom and Kang.
Starting with Dr. Doom and Kang, it looks like Rdj’s involvement won’t last long. As for Kang, there’s still a chance he could appear again,...

Whether or not we ever actually see a new "Star Trek 4" at this point remains to be seen. J.J. Abrams rebooted the legendary sci-fi franchise for the big screen in 2009 with a brand new cast and a brand new timeline, dubbed the "Kelvin Timeline." That cast, led by Chris Pine's Captain Kirk, has been waiting in the wings since 2016's "Star Trek Beyond" for another go-around. If/when that happens, Zoe Saldaña has one request for her return as Uhura.
During a recent conversation with Variety, Saldaña discussed the potential "Star Trek 4," which is being written by Steve Yockey ("The Flight Attendant") last we heard. While plot details remain under wraps, Saldaña explained that she wants to see her character, Uhura, take on a "leadership role" on the Enterprise, or within Starfleet in general. Here's what she...

The Sentry is a character that holds an interesting place in Marvel Comics. Created in 2000, Marvel had an interesting marketing strategy for the character, depicting the hero as something that had had a storied history at Marvel Comics, such that he went through all the beats of comic book history. He had a goody two shows era in the ’60s, and a gritty anti-hero era in the ’90s, all with appropriate costume changes.

However, as the years went on, The Sentry became a standard superhero in the Marvel Universe. One of its strongest heroes, the Sentry has fought the likes of Galactus and The Hulk to a standstill, and his introduction to the MCU is definitely going to change the hierarchy of power in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. How then, if the MCU goes this route, will it explain the hero with the Power of One...

Dragon Ball might seem like a simple battle-oriented Shonen manga, but there are several complex sagas that only true Dragon Ball-heads can decipher. The Future Trunks Saga is definitely one of the most confusing plot points of the popular franchise, but it is also extremely satisfying.
The Future Trunks Saga led to the unveiling of several timelines in the Dragon Ball multiverse. The audience realized that the actual plot of the series is ongoing in the main timeline, or Timeline 1. The timeline in which Future Trunks originates is Timeline 2. However, by crossing over to the main timeline, Future Trunks seals his fate.

The Sacred Timeline's Marc Spector seems like a lock for Avengers: Secret Wars, but what about the other Oscar Isaacs from Marvel’s Multiverse?
Ahh, the Multiverse Saga. Some have embraced it as a means of seeing classic characters return to the screen while others view it as representative of an irritating gimmick that has already worn out its welcome.
Whatever the reaction from audiences may be, Marvel Studios does not seem intent on halting its exploration of other realities and universes from the MCU’s wider Multiverse.

Marvel chief Kevin Feige has repeatedly shown the MCU’s timeline as ‘The Sacred Timeline’ and has designated Earth 616 to the franchise’s main timeline. While the franchise is in its multiverse saga at the moment and has come into contact with various realities, the main MCU starting from Iron Man has the Earth 616 designation.
However, Feige may be wrong about the number as there are fewer proofs of the franchise actually belonging to that timeline. The 616 designation is canonical to the Marvel comics universe which the MCU deviates from. Ms. Marvel star Iman Velani also pointed this out and mentioned that she has argued with Feige over this.

Sharing fresh new updates on buzzy upcoming Marvel movies? We can do this all day! With the release of Shawn Levy's Deadpool & Wolverine just days away, and the MCU focusing its attention on small-screen shows like WandaVision spin-off Agatha All Along for the remainder of 2024, the next blockbuster in the Sacred Timeline we'll be getting is next February's Captain America: Brave New World (formerly New World Order). And, with it being American Independence Day yesterday, Anthony Mackie — Cap himself — took to Instagram to share a new photo of himself suited up, shield in hand, to mark the occasion in Marvel-ous fashion. Check it out below;
As you can see in the new photo, Sam Wilson's switching up his Cap wardrobe for Brave New World, trading his more outré The Falcon And The Winter Soldier suit in favour of a more stealthy, more recognisably Steve Rogers-esque get-up here.

Gerard Butler has had a varied career so far, with him playing everything from action leads to rom-com love interests to a singing Phantom of the Opera. But, it has to be said that his most consistently entertaining output falls squarely into the action genre, and as far as Gerard Butler movies go, the action films will always be our favorites… so don’t expect to see The Ugly Truth on this list, but The Bounty Hunter might scrape by. Or maybe not. Let’s see how it goes:
300 (2006)
Perhaps The film that put Gerard Butler on the map for most people, particularly the action and comic book crowds. Butler is in peek physical form here, showing off his bod as the ultimate Spartan warrior and proving that he is indeed quite the leading man. His performance here is commanding, a bit in your face (in the right way), and exactly what the film needed.

This Halo article contains spoilers.
There’s no denying that the Halo season 2 finale delivered the goods, not only finally getting Master Chief and Cortana to the ring itself but also setting up storylines from the original game that will hopefully pay off in big ways in a third season. But despite a cliffhanger finale that introduced both 343 Guilty Spark and the Flood parasite, and that ended with John-117 preparing to trek deeper into the depths of the ring, we still haven’t heard anything about Halo season 3.
Not that the Halo team isn’t already thinking about what could come next. In fact, judging from comments made earlier this year, they’re more than ready to finish the fight.
“You always have to assume the best, right? And you wanna be writing with that long-term view in mind. So, definitely there’s story beyond season 2. We would love to be able to explore,...

When a franchise has lasted for upwards of half a century and is still going strong, the decision-makers in charge will inevitably run into one pressing question above all others: Where do we go next? "Star Trek" became a beloved institution among the nerdiest of fans for a pretty good reason, largely because of its wholesale commitment to treading new ground and envisioning a new future. But with the franchise firing on all cylinders these days and no signs of slowing down anytime soon, writers have become increasingly hard-pressed to boldly go where no others have gone before ... literally speaking, that is, since recent "Star Trek" shows like "Strange New Worlds," "Lower Decks," "Discovery," "Picard," and more have filled in all sorts of gaps in the official canon.
It's no secret that Paramount is eager to get back in the big-screen business for "Trek," however, and one of the more...

I find it ironic how despite existing on a planet where pretty much every living thing originated in the ocean, one of humanity’s most widespread fears is thalassophobia – the fear of the deep ocean. Whether it’s some form of genetic memory that continues to haunt our species or a natural reaction to witnessing one of the deadliest ecosystems in the world, it’s no surprise storytellers have been taking advantage of this fear for millennia.
And while Jaws obviously dominates the conversation when it comes to underwater horror in film, there are still some intrepid filmmakers that dare to explore other kinds of sea-borne thrills. For example, Deep Blue Sea director Renny Harlin’s upcoming Deep Water looks like it’s going to take us on another roller-coaster ride directly into shark-infested waters. ‘WandaVision’ is one of the highest-rated Disney+ shows. The original and unique approach to Wanda’s post-blip life and emotional trauma was well-received by the fans, and some of the characters introduced during the shows inevitably got their own spinoffs. White Vision project has been in the works for some time now, with rumors about the Wiccan show also resurfacing in recent times.
However, one of the most hype-worthy projects appears to be ‘Agatha: Darkhold Diaries’ focusing on WandaVision villain, scheduled to release sometime in 2024. When it comes to the MCU limited series on Disney+, the pacing issue is something that fans have often felt to be bothersome, and it ends up messing up the innovativeness of the storyline by gearing up the flow in favor of shoehorning the world-building aspects. Fortunately, Loki seemed to be the only exception, as it takes its sweet time to build on the narrative, provides viewers with an insight into the characters, and seemingly has a fixed resolution it is destined to reach without bothering much about the next big reveal and tease. It’s good to see that the second season has maintained the tradition.

This article contains spoilers for Loki Season Two.
Forget your Pizza Poppas, and forget your zombie superheroes. Loki season two has already given us the strangest, most unlikely Earth in the multiverse. Yes, the chyron in episode two tells us that Loki and Mobius go to 1977 in the Sacred Timeline. But in that world, a cheesy slasher called Zaniac is a star-studded, big-budget affair. In our world, even a masterpiece like Halloween was greeted with derision by critics of the time.
On the upside, our Earth does have wonderful things like Marvel Comics in the 1980s, when writers like Doug Moench told the kind of weird stories where Thor actually fights the Zaniac. Introduced in Thor #319 (1982), Zaniac was not just a movie monster portrayed by actor Brad Wolfe, but also an evil entity from the Dark Dimension.

The "Star Trek" movie franchise is in a bit of an odd spot right now, as we haven't had anything on the big screen since 2016's "Star Trek Beyond," which served as the third entry of J.J. Abrams' rebooted iteration. Dubbed the "Kelvin Timeline," these films existed in a new branch reality that Abrams created in 2009's "Star Trek," paving the way for a new incarnation that could honor what came before but pave a new path forward with a new cast. Now, Paramount is keeping things largely relegated to streaming, with shows like "Strange New Worlds" left to anchor the franchise. But there was a time when the studio was looking to exploit the Kelvin Timeline far more aggressively.
As explained in the book "The Fifty-Year Mission" by Mark A. Altman and Edward Gross, after "Star Trek" and before 2013's "Into Darkness," Paramount commissioned a series of in-universe novels.

As U.K. network ITV launches an external review into the circumstances surrounding “This Morning” anchor Phillip Schofield’s “unwise but not illegal” relationship with a young employee, many are wondering how the long-time host – a staple of British daytime television – went from ITV golden boy to Tellyland exile in a matter of weeks.
It’s a storyline that could have been ripped from Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon’s Apple TV+ hit “The Morning Show.” An older male anchor handpicks a glamorous, younger and – according to unkind whispers – malleable blonde to be his co-host after falling out with her predecessor.
Fifteen years later the young blonde (reportedly) turns on him, ousting him from the show following a string of scandals that were beginning to taint her brand. But her victory may be short-lived as the married male anchor drops the bombshell that he had an affair with a young...

The last couple of seasons of “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel,” it sure seemed as if Alex Borstein’s character Susie Myerson was not just being placed front and center, but also given a career and a life outside of Midge Maisel. The big question is: why? Could Midge’s tough-as-nails manager be getting a spin-off?
“Whatever [‘Mrs. Maisel’ creator] Amy Sherman-Palladino wants to do — and if I am invited to the party — I am there. I’m there early, and I will be the last guest to leave,” Borstein told TheWrap enthusiastically.
“I really, I just feel very safe and I really trust her,” the three-time Emmy winner (two for “Maisel”) continued. “She creates these universes that consistently expand, and I don’t know how she does it. You cannot get bored because it’s constantly expanding and changing and like the universe, there’s enough dark matter to keep you surprised and wondering and explore.

Nothing's a surefire bet in Hollywood until it is. Few took "Star Wars" seriously until it forever changed the movie landscape in 1977, ushering in our modern blockbuster era. Many were just as skeptical of the very concept of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, right up until "The Avengers" became the highest-grossing non-James Cameron movie ever at the time of its release in 2012. But when it did, you can bet your bottom dollar studios did everything in their power to replicate that success as quickly as possible -- and you can be just as well-assured that the outcome was often more regrettable than not.
Sequels like Sony's "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" and Warner Bros.' "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" were hastily rejiggered into launchpads for shared universes to noticeably sloppy results. Universal even announced its 2017 reboot of "The Mummy" would give rise to a retooled version of its...

So close but no conviction. Investigator Joseph Becerra was ready to bring convicted murderer and millionaire Robert Durst to trial for the murder of his wife Kathie, but Durst died in prison before the family had a chance to have their day in court.
“My biggest frustration in all of it was the fact that I couldn’t bring him back to New York to be arraigned,” Becerra told Showbiz Cheat Sheet about Durst. “I was hoping at some point he would tell me where Kathie’s body is. But we were never able to do that.”

Durst was convicted of murdering his close friend Susan Berman following an acquittal in the murder of his neighbor. In 2000, Berman was found in her home with a gunshot wound to the head. Durst was tried and convicted for her murder 21 years later. He was sentenced to life without parole.

Paul Walker enjoyed a lengthy career in Hollywood that carried him through various roles in several unique movies before his unfortunate death in 2013 at just 40 years old. Fans likely remember him best as Brian O'Conner in the "Fast and Furious" franchise, but the talented and handsome actor also appeared in critical hits such as "Pleasantville," "Joy Ride," and Clint Eastwood's "Flags of Our Fathers," and served as executive producer on the films "Vehicle 19," "Hours," and "Pawn Shop Chronicles." He even enjoyed a guest spot on National Geographic's "Expedition Great White" in 2009.
In his youth, Walker popped up in a variety of high-profile TV shows, among them "Highway to Heaven," "Charles in Charge," "Who's the Boss," and "Touched by an Angel," before making the leap to schlocky B-movie horror films such as "Tammy and the Rex," opposite Denise Richards, in which his character's brain somehow lands inside a Tyrannosaurus Rex.

Well, I was not expecting this: Orphan: First Kill, a prequel to 2009’s horror mystery Orphan, is better than its progenitor. No, scratch that: First Kill is, rather, not quite as bad as the previous movie. Still, this is a rare cinematic occurrence, and one to be commended, no matter how qualified.
The thing about the 2009 movie is that it played like a parody of horror movies, and, alas, not a knowing one. It had little beyond overbaked tropes of the genre: the “scary” music, the “menacing” camera angles, the telegraphing of every boo. Its big twist — look away now if you don’t want a 13-year-old movie spoiled — is that its central “sinister child,” the orphan of the title, is not, in fact, nine years old but actually an adult with a pituitary disorder that leaves her perpetually childlike in body. Though not childlike in mind: she’s cunning and devious,...

In the days since legendary filmmaker Richard Donner’s death at age 91, his longtime wife, Lauren Shuler Donner, has taken comfort in the outpouring of love and support from the “Superman” director’s fans and colleagues.
“Each one is more remarkable than the next,” Shuler Donner tells Variety about the stories she’s heard about her late husband. “He was a prankster, a lover. He was an extraordinary man, and I want everybody to celebrate him in their own way.”
Since news broke of Donner’s death on Monday, industry leaders including Steven Spielberg (who wrote the story for “The Goonies”) and Donner’s “Lethal Weapon” stars Mel Gibson and Danny Glover have been among those publicly mourning the director’s passing.
“Somebody who’s prominent in the business, told me that when they were young [in the 60s or 70s], they were somewhere, and suddenly there was a ripple in the room, and somebody whispered,...

Director-producer Richard Donner, best known for helming the “Lethal Weapon” film series, “The Goonies” and the original “Superman” film, died on Monday. He was 91.
Donner’s production company confirmed news of his death to Variety, though the cause was not disclosed.
Though not his first bigscreen effort, his big feature break came with 1976’s “The Omen,” starring Gregory Peck and Lee Remick. Thereafter, he brought his craftsmanship to the first “Superman.” He also branched out into producing, usually with his wife Lauren Shuler Donner — he executive produced the huge 2000 success “X-Men” and later the prequel “X-Men Origins: Wolverine.” But his career was highlighted by the “Lethal Weapon” series, starring Mel Gibson and Danny Glover, which elevated him to the ranks of directors generating more than a billion dollars in box office.
Born Richard Donald Schwartzberg in the Bronx, he attended Parker Junior College and then NYU, where he majored in business and theater.

It’s summer, everyone! And with its relatively sparse list of new releases for July 2021, Hulu seems to be subtlety imploring its subscribers to go outside.
Don’t get us wrong: Hulu’s library offerings get a big upgrade this month. July 1 sees the arrival of great films like Galaxy Quest, Fargo, and Caddyshack. Bill and Ted Face the Music premieres on July 2 and its followed by Barb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar on July 9. Not bad stuff! It’s just that, outside of the library titles, there isn’t much to go off of.
Hulu’s only major original release this month is the FX on Hulu production American Horror Stories on July 15. As its name implies, the show is a spinoff of American Horror Story and will feature self-contained horror episodes rather than a season-long arc. If you’ll allow this geriatric millennial to deploy one truly ancient meme: “Yo dawg,...

This article contains spoilers for Loki episode 3.
Back in the first episode of Marvel’s Loki, viewers get a helpful expositional rundown about the Time Variance Authority from Miss Minutes (Tara Strong), a friendly cartoon clock.
In a ‘50s style orientation video, Miss Minutes described how the Time Keepers created the Tva and all the employees within it to maintain the Sacred Timeline and avert temporal chaos. Makes sense! But in this week’s episode, “Lamentis”, we are provided some information that appears to be at odds with the “official” founding myth of the Tva.
As rogue Loki Variant Sylvie describes what it’s like to enchant people’s minds to our lead character, she reveals that sometimes a mind is so strong that she must create a fantasy of a memory to lull them. Such is the case with Hunter C-20 (Sasha Lane).

The elevator pitch is a tried and true concept in both the entertainment and business worlds. The thinking goes that if you can’t explain your entire idea in the time it takes an elevator to take you to your floor, then it’s too complicated and doomed to fail. In the latest clip from Marvel’s next Disney+ series Loki, Owen Wilson’s character Agent Mobius takes on perhaps the most ambitious elevator pitch yet.
Give the clip, which premiered during the MTV Movie Awards, a look below to see what we mean.
“What does that mean?” Loki wants to know about Mobius’s statement that “time passes differently in the Tva.”
Thankfully, Loki asked the right man for an explanation because by the time the pair exit the elevator, the God of Mischief has a shockingly thorough understanding of just what the Time Variance Authority does.

Fresh off the long-awaited arrival of Zack Snyder’s Justice League (a.k.a. the fabled Snyder Cut), HBO Max has no need to appease fandom culture in April 2021. But the streaming service is gonna do it anyway!
The most notable new release for HBO Max this month is the HBO series The Nevers. This show, created by Joss Whedon, is set in a 19th century steampunk London and finds a sizable portion of the population (predominantly women) having been “Touched” by mysterious paranormal powers. There’s an interesting bit of irony at play here, as HBO Max is following up the Snyder Cut with a show created by his original Justice League replacement. Or at least there could have been an interesting bit of irony here, if Whedon had not bowed out from the show and been enthusiastically left out of the marketing material by HBO.
