"Call it." "We shoot our way out." Lionsgate has unveiled an official trailer for an action movie called Dirty Angels, yet another rescue in Afghanistan thriller. Yet it's being dumped on VOD in the middle of December, along with a few theaters for good measure. The movie centers on a group of female soldiers who disguise themselves as medics to rescue a group of teenagers caught between Isis and the forces of the Taliban. What an original story - more jingoistic action. Dirty Angels stars Eva Green, Maria Bakalova, Ruby Rose, Jojo T. Gibbs, Rona-Lee Shimon, Aziz Çapkurt, and Reza Brojerdi. This so wants to be The Expendables but for women...

Boys’ Love, or ‘Bl’ as it is also known, was once a minor and lightly regarded type of Japanese manga catering mainly to female fans, delivering stories of handsome young guys falling in love with each other.
Now its popularity has spread beyond Japan to much of East Asia and beyond, while metamorphozing into a film, TV and online genre with millions of fans. Just how big Bl has become was evident in a Wednesday Tiffcom seminar on the Bl phenomenon in Thailand: Beyond Borders: Exploring the Global Appeal and Diversity of Thailand’s Boys’ Love Contents.
The eleven speakers, including an official from the Office of Commercial Affairs, Royal Thai Embassy in Japan, vigorously pitched partnerships with Japanese content companies, which seemed to be a classic case of selling ice to Alaska’s indigenous inhabitants.
Members of the packed seminar room might beg to differ, however. From the presentations of the speakers,...

Higher prices, fewer shows and more franchise spin-offs: The bill for peak TV is coming due, and media companies are hoping they can pass on the cost to consumers and shareholders. Paramount Global’s announcement that it could write down as much as $1.5 billion in content this year as it merges Paramount+ and Showtime is just the latest sign of the newly cost-conscious stage of the streaming revolution, experts and analysts told TheWrap.
Paramount is just one of many media companies looking to rationalize their portfolios: Consider Disney’s Hulu dilemma or Warner Bros. Discovery’s pending plan to combine HBO Max and Discovery+. But Paramount may be moving the most decisively to scale back a famous brand from the era of cable TV to bolster its direct-to-consumer business and cut costs, as investors grow impatient with streaming losses. Criminal Minds, CBS's second-longest-running series behind NCIS, will have a two-hour finale starting at 9 p.m. Wednesday, March 18.
The real mystery is whether the finale will be only for Season 13 or for the series itself, as CBS has continued its pattern of waiting until the last second to decide whether or not to renew the veteran procedural.
Erica Messer, executive producer, and showrunner has been with Criminal Minds since its beginning in 2005.
Previously a writer on series such as Alias, Charmed, and The O.C., Messer also served as executive producer and showrunner for the spinoff Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders for its two seasons.
Taking time out from developing programming at her Erica Messer Productions company, Messer talked all things Criminal Minds, including its finale and possible future.

Welcome, Matt, to the Bau.
After most of the season has passed, Matt Simmons finally got his spotlight episode on Criminal Minds Season 13 Episode 19.
Simmons came over to the Bau as a refugee from the FBI's International Response Team, featured on Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders, the better of Criminal Minds' two short-lived spinoffs.
That series always felt to me akin to Law & Order: Los Angeles, full of darkness offset by a good deal of light. That must have been because of the colorful locations and the positivity projected by Gary Sinese's Unit Chief Jack Garrett.

Mollywood The actor will be playing one of the leads in the Malayalam campus thriller ‘Queen’ Digital NativeThe Malayalam movie Queen released on January 12 and is doing well at the box office. This campus thriller has a set of newbies who were selected after nearly about ten rounds of auditions. Speaking about bagging the role, Druvan, who plays Balu in the film, said that he was unwell on the day of the audition but decided to give it a try and bagged the role. The actor, who was seen in a small role in the Mohanlal starrer 1971: Beyond Borders added that he initially thought that he would bag a small role but was surprised when he came to know that he would be playing one of the leads. The actor appears in three get-ups in Queen and had a lot of scope to perform. In an interview to the Deccan Chronicle, Druvan said, “The looks from the first year of college to the fourth year are shown. The first year has me in a clean-shaven look and by the fourth year I have a beard. There is also a look in a flashback scene.” He added, “I studied art but by the end of the film, I felt I had finished my engineering course without the certificate.” Having bagged the role through auditions, Druvan has a word of caution to the aspiring actors about fake auditions. He cautions that fake auditions are a part of the business and requested the aspiring actors to be careful during the selection process. Directed by Dijo Jose Anthony, Queen has a set of newbies including Saniya Iyappan, Eldho Mathew, Druvan, Arun H Das, Arun Nandakumar, Ashwin Jose, Jenson Alappat, Moozi, Sooraj Kumar, and Sam Sibin. Jakes Bejoy had composed music for this venture with Suresj Gopi cranking the camera and Sagar Dass editing it. According to trade reports, Queen is turning into a box office success.
