Cezanne Et Moi The biggest explosion of French and francophone cinema in the UK will hit cinemas in November as part of a major expansion of the French Film Festival UK, which celebrates its 24th edition from November 3 to December 1.

The organisers today announced preliminary plans with a selection that embraces contemporary titles, classics, animation, documentary, shorts and a specially curated programme for young audiences.

The festival will take place in major cities (among them Newcastle, Leeds, London, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Cardiff, Bristol and Belfast) as well as smaller towns from Kirkcaldy to Hereford, Hebden Bridge, Chichester and Richmond (Yorkshire) and many others. In London the Festival venues are the Ciné Lumière (South Kensington), the Regent Street Cinema, and the Barbican. Overall more than 30 different locations will be involved.

Professor Brian Cox and Robin Ince's new 6-part science web mini-series, The Quest For Wonder, has a first trailer...

Where should you go if you've lost your wonder? Where else but The Science Museum! Nearest tube stop: South Kensington.

That's where comedian Robin Ince and Professor Brian Cox, aided by their puppet counterparts, embark on a quest for the good prof's sense of awe (small, blue and fluffy in case you see it around) in this trailer for a new six-part web series.

The online mini-series, arriving in 2016 and made in association with The Science Museum, is being billed as "a fun-filled caper through the world of science that is sure to delight both children and adults alike."

Chicago – Sienna Miller creates illumination that a movie screen never forgets. From her early roles in “Alfie” and “Factory Girl,” to the more recent “Foxcatcher” and “American Sniper,” Miller adds an extra level of truth that generates expressive and notable characteristics to the roles that she portrays.

In “American Sniper,” Miller portrays the real-life Taya Kyle, wife of military man Chris Kyle. Chris is the subject of the film’s title, a trained Navy Seal who has the distinction of being the marksman who had the most “kills” of any sniper in American war history. In the film, Siena Miller represents the home front for Chris Kyle, the wife that is waiting for his adjustment to civilian life. Like her previous roles, Miller finds the nuance in Taya, and produces the conflict that gives no easy answers to a warrior without a war.

With one in four women in the UK suffering abuse in their lifetime, and with some 3000 reported cases of honour-based violence each year, there is an urgent need for action. The 18-22 September 2013 will mark an important week as the Sccf launches their gala evening and sale of artworks to raise funds for victims of abuse. The artworks will be on display and open to the public until 22 September, during which time educational days, workshops and artist talks will also take place. Top Criminal Behavioural Analyst Laura Richards is advising the Sccf on its educational programme.
