I saw this film in France on the telly. And for all the life they try to crunch into it, it comes across DEAD ON ARRIVAL. The direction was poor, as well as the acting by the male lead(American ex-patriot). Some nice performances otherwise, and a interesting place to set the film, the fall of the Berlin Wall, but these two +'s can't not overcome the lack of interest I found in trying to identify with the lead they cast. I failed to see him as someone the lead girl would fall for, no danger or sex appeal. Should have no real future in DVD sales. Better luck next time. Good music though. I think that some kind of sound track could score.

A wonderful surprise for anyone who thinks there's nothing new under the sun, "My Sweet Home" has made quite an impression at film festivals all over Europe, but hasn't quite registered on the radar of US moviegoers. Our loss. A heartfelt love story of an American wanderer and the German girl who hits him like a thunderbolt, a fascinating glimpse into the moody world of expatriates from around the globe who land in Berlin, plus an over-the-top Eastern European gypsy-rock band (you have to hear it to believe it) altogether makes for an amazing film.
