Link fights monsters with a sword and other tools of combat, such as a long bow, bombs, fire spells, ice spells, and a small, powerful hammer.
Monsters do not bleed and explode into smoke upon being killed.
Link can be seen getting hurt by running into enemies, getting hit by rocks, falling into pits, getting hurt by spiked floors and cactus, eye walls shooting laser beams at link, stepping on land mines.
If Link attacks and abuses the chicken with his sword enough times, the flock of chickens will swarm all over Link. Also Link can be seen getting stung by a bee.

The Dark World is a dark, creepy, monster-filled dystopia.
Monsters include living skeletons, disembodied hands, ghosts haunting cemeteries with lanterns, and sentient mummies.
The Skull Woods area is a shadowy, haunted forest with large skulls littering the ground everywhere.
The background music to the Dark World's dungeons is a shivering, haunting orchestral approach that fits the dark theme of the complex very well.
