The original idea was to set and shoot the film in Sicily, until director Goran Paskaljevic's wife suggested Ireland as a setting, remembering the country from when she had been there as a teenager.
Filming took place on location in Ireland and involved cast and crew members from Ireland, Italy, Serbia, France and Germany.
Many scenes were changed or re-written during production to suit the actors or location.
