- TriviaOne of the official videos that could not be included in this collection was "Worlock." "Worlock" consists of gory scenes (some of them censored from their original films) from over fifty horror movies, making it virtually impossible to secure rights and clearances for the whole thing.
Featured review
This is an excellent compilation of most of the official Skinny Puppy videos. The only ones missing are the "Worlock" video (which could not be released due to extensive video sampling from horror movies) and the promotional videos for "The Process".
The videos seem to be influeced by the low budget horror movies that the band members watched. They are all dark and disturbing, but have that special touch of B-movie cheesiness. The first two videos that SP made ("Smothered Hope" and "Far Too Frail") are EXTREMELY low quality. On "Far to Frail", they didn't even bother to find footage where Nivek Ogre was singing the right lyrics, which looks pretty goofy. The videos they made after those are generally well done despite their extremely limited budgets and are very entertaining.
If you're an SP fan, the video is worth buying just to see the what the band members were thinking about when they wrote the songs. As far as artistic quality is concerned, the videos don't come close to the music (not possible), nor are they as good as the videos of some of their contemporaries like ClockDVA and Einsturzende Neubauten. However, they are still better than almost anything on MTV (IMHO) and I recommend them to anyone who is a fan of SP. I give this video a 7.
