James Brady wakes up and reaches for Tums and aspirin for his hangover before stumbling to the kitchen for some vodka, skillfully hidden in a carton of orange juice. Why? Because it seems to be a law that the leads of films like these have to have a troubled past and a drinking problem. His son Casey picks him up from his AA meeting in an armoured car, and they start another day of deliveries.
But as they go through their day, Rook and his crew, which includes Smoke, Echo and Viper are watching them. And with names like that, you know it can’t be a good thing.

How Drew Barrymore fought to make Charlie’s Angels, and the Sylvester Stallone film with three names. It’s all in the Film Stories podcast.
It was following the success of The Fugitive that Hollywood started plundering (again) the archives of television for its movie ideas. Sony wanted a Charlie’s Angels film, and was looking for pitches. Drew Barrymore, then making Never Been Kissed, was interested.
The film she’d help steer to the screen though wasn’t without behind the scenes incidents, though.
Sylvester Stallone was all set to earn $60m for three movies in the mid-1990s meanwhile, he just had to make sure he picked the right projects. He committed to filming D-Tox in the late 1990s. But years after it was finished, it’d been through three titles, assorted cuts, and Hollywood smelt trouble.
Stories of both films are told in this episode…

It’s always cool when we have the chance to watch action heroes venture into horror territory. We’ve seen Arnold Schwarzenegger take on the Predator, battle Satan (in End of Days), and raise a zombie daughter (in Maggie). Sylvester Stallone has taken on psycho killers in Cobra and Eye See You. Charles Bronson tracked a serial killer in 10 to Midnight. Dolph Lundgren faced off with an alien drug dealer in I Come in Peace. Jean-Claude Van Damme played both a serial killer and the killer’s heroic clone in Replicant. Steven Seagal killed vampires in Against the Dark. The list goes on… but two separate action horror projects we tragically missed out on would have given us the sight of both Van Damme and Seagal fighting Yetis, a.k.a. Abominable Snowmen!

The early 2000s were a bad time for Sylvester Stallone professionally. In the mid-nineties, after a short-lived resurgence of three hit movies, Cliffhanger, Demolition Man and The Specialist, Stallone’s career as a bankable action star began to sputter, with Judge Dredd, Assassins and Daylight all losing money. Copland, an indie drama directed by James Mangold, made money and earned Stallone his best reviews since the original Rocky, but his follow-up movies were disastrous. His attempt at a slasher/ horror movie, D-Tox, sat on the shelf for years, finally being released under the lame title Eye See You. His 2000 remake of Get Carter was another disaster, with critics eviscerating him for remaking the Michael Caine classic, with even a cameo from Caine himself not easing their fury. In 2001, he teamed with Cliffhanger’s Renny Harlin on a go-for-broke would-be blockbuster called Driven.

Sylvester Stallone allegedly had a bad rap among the directors of his earlier movies, who complained that the actor took control over some of their creative decisions. This reputation made one director not want to work with him, despite the First Blood actor expressing interest in the role. Jim Gillespie finally had to give up his premonitions, as the studio could find no other A-listers except Stallone for the role in 2002’s D-Tox.
D-Tox director Jim Gillespie initially didn’t want Sylvester Stallone in his movie
Gillespie had his own vision for the psychological thriller film based on the novel Jitter Joint. Stallone’s lead character is a mentally tortured federal agent hunting down serial killers. However, things were not how Gillespie thought it would be.

Sylvester Stallone isn’t just an actor, but a director and writer himself. Because of this, Stallone once had an unfavorable reputation behind-the-scenes of wanting to take control of the projects he starred in.
So when Stallone was cast in this obscure thriller, this filmmaker flat-out refused to collaborate with him. Until he was forced to.

The 2002 feature film D Tox, also titled Eye See You, might be one of the more obscure films in Stallone’s filmography. The movie was based on the novel Jitter Joint, and starred Stallone as a psychologically tortured federal agent hunting down serial killers.
Filmmaker Jim Gillespie would helm the project. He had a long list of big-named actors he wanted to work with on the thriller, but the Rocky star wasn’t one of them.

Sylvester Stallone may be one of the biggest movie stars in Hollywood, but even though he’s got a lot of successful blockbuster films out there, he’s also had his fair share of flopped projects. Not only did these films tank at the box office but they were also critically slammed.

It’s not easy to determine what kind of films make great profits because people’s preferences and global trends change. However, some of Stallone’s most loathed works were projects he did not carefully choose, or those where his vision was not followed.

If you’re like me and so many other nineties kids, you may remember Eye See You (watch it Here) as that Sylvester Stallone film you saw late in his career sitting on the shelves at your local Blockbuster or Hollywood Video featuring Sly pointing a gun in a snowy landscape looking just as surprised as you to be there with such little fanfare. Stallone belongs on the “Guaranteed to have in-stock or you get a free rental” Holy shit package wall of the video store or at the very least in an interesting role among an all-star cast like he’d been in with Cop Land a few years previous.

Copland was supposed to be Sylvester Stallone’s comeback movie. Despite earning decent box office and generating Sly’s best reviews in decades, it seemed to be the final nail in his coffin as a leading man, and I don’t understand why. Before Copland, Stallone was headlining huge action movies like Daylight and Judge Dredd, and while they underperformed domestically and overseas, they were still big. One would think that Stallone would have been given an old-school action film to revive his career, but all of a sudden, he was slotted into cheap movies, such as the slasher thriller D-tox, which is also called Eye See You. That movie was so bad that it went direct-to-video, which pretty much meant the end of Stallone’s career for half a dozen years until he managed a major comeback with Rocky Balboa. It would get pretty dire for Sly, but Warner Bros...

1995 wasn’t a good year for Sylvester Stallone at the multiplex. His summer tentpole, Judge Dredd, flopped domestically, and it was quickly followed by Richard Donner’s Assassins, which only grossed $30 million at the domestic box office. While Sly’s career had seen a few slumps, his straightforward action movies typically performed, and the failure of those two films put his clout as one of the world’s biggest stars in jeopardy. In this episode of Sylvester Stallone Revisited, we’re going to talk about a movie that was supposed to be a big-budget, commercial change of pace for the actor but wound up being the last would-be blockbuster he’d star in for years. That’s right; we’re going to talk about Rob Cohen’s Daylight.

1995 – it was the best of times; it was the worst of times. While the peak era of action movies was beginning to wane, multiplexes were still packed with decent action films, and icons like Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone were still packing them in. Meanwhile, second-tier action heroes like Steven Seagal and Jean-Claude Van Damme still tried to punch their way onto the A-list. It would never quite happen for those two, with both starring in direct-to-video movies by the decade’s end. But 1995 was arguably the last year in the nineties when Stallone and Schwarzenegger were at the top of their game. Schwarzenegger’s career would only really falter at the end of the decade, with him never really able to recapture his former box office glory following his run as the Governor of California. Stallone would be luckier, with him able to reinvent himself in the mid-2000s...

It has been reported that Freddie Prinze Jr. hasn’t yet been offered a role in an upcoming sequel to his 1997 breakout hit, I Know What You Did Last Summer, although it had already been published in the trades that he would be starring in it. Ironically, that original film was so miserable for the actor that he almost left the movie business altogether. According to Deadline, Prinze Jr. had clashed with the director of that film to the point of almost quitting mid-production.
While promoting his new podcast, That Was Pretty Scary, in an interview, Prinze Jr. opened up about the difficult time he was having with director Jim Gillespie on his first major Hollywood movie. “There was no passive aggressiveness — which I hate — (the director) was very direct in the fact that, ‘I don’t want you in this movie,’ So when that’s your first job and you hear those words,...

Eye See You: Koberidze Spins a Modern Fairy Tale of Distracted Perceptions
Georgian director Alexandre Koberidze ascends to a sublime arthouse stature with his curious sophomore feature What Do We See When We Look at the Sky?, a sort-of randomly moderated fairy tale romance, travelogue mussed music video. Arriving shortly after Dea Kulumbegashvili’s exceptional Beginning (2020), Koberidze’s accomplishment heightens the possibility for a budding New Georgian Wave. A provocative mix of tones, inspirations, and playful textures, it’s filled with odd waves of captivation, though its fluctuations may repel whatever initial ambience convinces one of its charm. If you commit to its running time, Koberidze concocts a genre unto itself with this cinema as hypnosis, switching gears every time you feel you’ve figured out where the narrative is headed.…...

Growing up in the UK’s equivalent of The Shire meant that access to the escapism of video rentals was something as distant as The Misty Mountains. The arrival of a man who looked like Stanley Uris from Stephen King’s It, driving a van that was filled to the rafters with VHS, and which glowed like the Pulp Fiction briefcase when opened, introduced me to a roll-call of the 80s Action Heroes. Monosyllabic men, who quipped their way through bullets and bodies. The first plastic case to cross my sweaty palms featured a muscular fellow, holding a gun, against a colourful heatmap backdrop. It was Predator, and that was a long time ago.
About where things began to change for the real expendables is hard to pinpoint. Why did these one-time box-office giants; Schwarzenegger, Stallone, Van-Damme, and to a lesser degree Lundgren, suddenly find their powers diminishing?...

This can’t be what Arnold Schwarzenegger imagined 2017 to look like: Sure, there’s a reality star in the White House, the Chicago Cubs are World Series champions, and his arch-rival (/best celebrity friend), Sylvester Stallone, is a recent Academy Award nominee. Yet for the ex-governor of California, far more confounding is how he became an ex-celebrity.
Schwarzenegger spent his acting life amassing a domestic box office of more than $1.8 billion. That haul came from comedies, like “Twins” ($111 million); science fiction, like “Total Recall” ($119 million) and “Terminator 2” ($204 million); or — his bread and butter — action flicks a la “True Lies” ($146 million) and “Eraser” ($101 million). But one unfortunate connection for all of Schwarzenegger’s films grossing $100 million-plus: They were all made before the year 2000.

Principal photography on Marvel's Doctor Strange picked up this morning in Kathmandu, Nepal, following yesterday's unconventional commencement. And several new photos have surfaced from the shoot (via Twitter and Instagram) with a much closer look at a scruffy Benedict Cumberbatch in full costume as Stephen Strange. Furthermore, the Oscar-nominated actor's dialect coach, Sarah Shepherd, has been posting photos on social media from the same filming location which could imply that Cumberbatch's Sorcerer Supreme will have an American accent as opposed to British. There is no word on how long Doctor Strange will be filming in Nepal, but the Marvel Studios production (aliased Eye See You) is expected to head to London next month. In the meantime, be on the lookout for more photos hopefully with other cast members in costume. What do you think? Sylvester Stallone did it with "D-Tox," John Cusack with "Identity," Val Kilmer with "Mindhunters", and now Agatha Christie's well-worn "And Then There Were None" formula is getting trotted out again.
This time it's Arnold Schwarzenegger leading the group of ten, an elite DEA task force who successfully execute a raid on a cartel safe house. It seems to be all over, until one by one the team members start dying.
USA Today has posted the first photos from the David Ayer-directed action thriller which also stars Sam Worthington, Joe Manganiello, Terrence Howard, Josh Holloway, Olivia Williams, Mireille Enos and Max Martini. The film opens April 11th.

It seems like we have a little internet battle regarding information on Marvel's Doctor Strange film. Latino-Review has been feeding us a lot of cool information on the upcoming unannounced film project, and so has Comic Book Movie who subtly claims that their source is better than Latino-Review's source and that their information is false.
Now there's no confirmation on who is right and who is wrong when it comes to the information they are providing, it's just a couple of sites with two different sources that are feeding them different information. Both of which could be completely false, or one of them totally true.
So the latest update on the film comes from Cbm who says they received three pages of the script, so that they can help clarify the reports coming out of Latino-Review. What I think is funny is that at the end of giving their information...

Jim Gillespie is returning to the thriller scene for his first project since 2005's Venom. According to Variety, he'll next helm Take Down, a film "about a group of rich youngsters trying to defeat criminals who are to abduct them from far-flung boarding school." The director made his feature debut in the '90s with I Know What You Did Last Summer. He followed that up with D-Tox, starring Sylvestor Stallone.

Bullet to the Head
Starring: Sylvester Stallone, Jason Momoa, Sung Kang
Directed by Walter Hill
Rated R
Sylvester Stallone’s career has always been somewhat of a punchline. Sure, he gave us Rocky, but he also gave us Over the Top, Stop or My Mom Will Shoot, Eye See You, Daylight…well you get the idea. Limited in his range as an actor, but always trying to demonstrate otherwise, Stallone, with a career that was only becoming more of a punchline, decided the best thing to do was to relive his past. That meant bringing back his two most iconic (well his only iconic) characters (Rocky and Rambo) from the past into the new Millennium. His gamble paid off, then paid off big time with his ode to 80’s action glory.
And Stallone, just like Schwarzenegger, decided to push that nostalgia one step further with Bullet to the Head, a movie that,...

Sylvester Stallone has had a pretty impressive comeback in recent years. The Rocky and Rambo star was once one of the biggest actors in the world, but despite his box office successes through the 80s and 90s, he was relegated to straight-to-dvd work like Eye See You, Shade, and Avenging Angelo for much of the 2000s. After resurrecting his iconic characters and getting the gang back together for The Expendables, Stallone seems to have a second chance at being a megastar again, but that doesn't mean he'll only be doing blockbusters. Variety reports that Sly has joined Reach Me, an indie drama for director John Herzfeld. The film tells the story of a collection of people who have a connection with a self-help book written by a secretive and reclusive former football coach and stars rapper-turned-actor Nelly, Elizabeth Henstridge (who has just been cast in Joss Whedon's "S.H.I.E.L.D." With the ‘80s action hero ensemble The Expendables 2 currently on theater screens worldwide, it’s worth remembering that most of these men of action have dabbled in horror over the years. Bruce Willis has the ghostly hit The Sixth Sense (1999) to his credit; Arnold Schwarzennegger went toe to toe with a tenacious space-spawned hunter in the classic sci-fi/horror hybrid Predator (1987) and took on Satan in End of Days (1999); Sylvester Stallone battled a serial killer in the little-seen Eye See You (1999) and some would say that his violent cop thriller Cobra (1986) rests comfortably on the periphery of the ‘80s slasher genre. But despite the various merits of those films, I have to single out the Chuck Norris vehicle Silent Rage (1982) as a true action/horror favorite.

When I heard that Tom Cruise's hirsute and bechubbed Tropic Thunder character was getting his own film I just snorted and rolled my eyes and muttered something like, "Of course he is." But when I read via Film School Rejects that a script has been completed by one of the Scott Pilgrim vs. The World writers, my eye rolls turned to daggers. Did Cruise's Les Grossman make me laugh? Sure, why not. Does he deserve his own movie? No way. Should someone who is obviously talented (Scott Pilgrim was one of my favorite films of last year, haters) waste his time writing Diet Coke and iPhone jokes? No. F*cking. Way. Here are some recent supporting characters I'd rather he wrote a script for. Speaking of Scott Pilgrim, let's start with:
Kim Pine--"Scott Pilgrim vs. The World"
Why? She's ten times bossier than Les Grossman.
Proposed Title: I...

One of my fondest childhood memories involved a thrilling trip to a dank, grimy, old sewer tunnel, climbing in and placing my head between its enormous, seemingly razor sharp fan blades. Of course, I was in no real danger and everything had been constructed from wood. Still, it was an experience I wouldn’t forget – albeit a bizarre one. I was touring the set of a new Sylvester Stallone action opus. Yet, all was not well.
Our insightful tour guide explained the nightmarish production problems. Personnel changes (including the replacement of the film’s director and cinematographer at different points in production) and ever-changing script were leading to severe cost overruns. Executives were nervous because of tepid box office returns for the Stallone vehicle Lock Up. As such, the movie’s title, The Set Up, was being changed to Tango & Cash, to eradicate any association.

He is one of the most recognized "movie stars" of the past 30 years. He has been nominated for an Academy Award both as an actor and as a screenwriter and approaching the age of 65 he could beat the living crap out of most men without so much as breaking a sweat.
He is Sylvester Stallone and once again he sits atop the box office mountain with his newest film "The Expendables", the high octane adventure that is essentially a love letter to fans of the great action films of the 80's.
But amidst the success of "The Expendables" a lingering question hangs in the air... what does (or can) Sylvester Stallone do next?
Let's rewind a little bit. 20 years ago Stallone was one of the most bankable and successful stars in Hollywood. He was so good that even though he had a couple of duds that would have killed other actors careers (yes,...

Yes, it’s lame, and I apologize to you die-hard “My Heart Will Go On” fans out there. It was released today by Atlantic Records that James Horner’s score for Avatar would be hitting CD shelves on December 15th. With this announcement came word that not only would the soundtrack be filled with Horner’s score, but it will also be including an original song, “I See You,” performed by Leona Lewis.
For those of you who don’t know who that is (I had to look it up myself), she is a multi-platinum and three-time Grammy nominated R&B singer songwriter. The song, which, honestly, should have been written about seven years ago for that little-seen Stallone vehicle, Eye See You, is also being co-produced by Horner and Simon Franglen, both of whom did producing work on Titanic’s Academy Award winning song. A companion music video is...

While fans may be disappointed to hear that the upcoming season of ER will be the show’s last, some may find interest in the fact that it will be quite a star-studded 15th season. In fact, NBC announced today that yet another actor is set to join the cast as a guest star, who will take part in a multi-episode arc. In April, the network announced that Angela Bassett will be playing Dr. Cate Banfield in the upcoming season as a replacement for Kari Matchett’s outgoing character, Dr. Skye Wexler. Today, NBC announced that Bassett’s real life husband, Courtney B. Vance will be playing her on-screen hubby, Russell Banfield.
"We are excited to see the on-screen chemistry and emotion this incredibly talented husband and wife team will bring to our show," executive producer David Zabel said in a statement. "Fans are in for a treat and we...
