Cathy Rogers got the idea for the show (i.e. having people build something useful out of junk) after watching Apollo 13 (1995).
Dick Strawbridge, contestant in Series 1 and 2 replaced Robert Llewellyn and Lisa Rogers, as the presenter in Series 11.
Until Series 2. Robert Llewellyn was the only presenter of the show. Producer Cathy Rogers joined the show in Series 2 as a co-presenter.
