For a long time, it was reported that the special was never rerun because Garfield was used without the permission of his creator, Jim Davis. Garfield and Friends (1988) writer Mark Evanier stated that Davis approved of Garfield's appearance, but the special could only be shown for a limited time as part of the agreement.

Goofs
Some of the cartoon characters are explained as being in "the real world" by being represented as toys that magically come to life, or as characters on a comic book page, but several others simply show up in their cartoon form with no explanation whatsoever.

Quotes
Theodore: [the chipmunks and ALF discover what Michael is hiding in the box; Theodore sniffs the air] What's that funny smell?

Crazy credits
When the special is originally aired on the television, the copyright notice for "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" characters is not shown, but however it was corrected and it was later added to the home video release.

Alternate versions
When Estrellas de dibujos animados al rescate (1990) went to VHS (the same season and year it was broadcast), the "Playboy" magazine laying open on Corey's dad's workbench (as it showed explicit results of a woman) is edited out to avoid controversy towards attended audiences.

Funny, like Reefer Madness

Hilarious video depicting a young boy who's using drugs and turning for the worse. Quite cute in the parts where it shows him stealing his baby sisters piggy bank to get money for some pot. Other scenes that stick out in my mind include seeing his future looking like some guy from Night of the Living Dead. As you would expect, complete and utter propaganda, however, it's one of the funniest films I've ever seen.
