Hallmark is branching out into reality TV this holiday season. The channel announced that it would be debuting its first-ever reality competition series with a show called Finding Mr. Christmas.
The show is hosted by Jonathan Bennett and will see ten contestants going head-to-head. When describing the show, Jonathan noted the other reality series that influenced the creation of the new program.
via Instar The Show Is A Search For A Leading Man
Finding Mr. Christmas is a competition for performers, as it seeks to sort through ten contestants to find which of them will be the next leading man for a Hallmark holiday film. The participants will not only have to prove their acting chops, but will also need to showcase their charm and, perhaps most important of all, their holiday spirit.

RuPaul starred in The Brady Bunch movie, bringing humor and iconic scenes that still resonate with audiences today. Despite success, RuPaul wasn't thrilled with his makeup in the film, wishing he had gone for a bolder look. Other actors, like Amanda Seyfried, also have regrets about past performances and roles, highlighting the vulnerability of actors.
In 1995, The Brady Bunch Movie was released and became a classic in its own right. The film was a parody of the famous sitcom, poking fun at the All-American, clean-cut, family-friendly image of the original show.
At the time, RuPaul was a huge celebrity, known for his hit single "Supermodel (You Better Work)." He was appearing everywhere, on magazine covers, MTV, and even The Oprah Winfrey Show. So it only made sense he would appear in The Brady Bunch Movie as well.
Way before RuPaul's Drag Race, his role as Jan Brady's guidance counselor had audiences howling with laughter.

Ever since Jimmy Kimmel turned down next year’s Oscars hosting gig because he wanted to “take a little break,” Hollywood has been buzzing with potential replacement ideas. Will the academy go back to a former emcee like Amy Schumer, Chris Rock, Hugh Jackman or Billy Crystal? Or will somebody new be given the reigns to the Academy Awards? Well, RuPaul Charles has decided to channel TV’s Deborah Vance by publicly tossing his own name into the ring. “I’m right here, bitch!” he proudly declared while subbing for a vacationing Jimmy Kimmel on a recent episode of “Jimmy Kimmel Live.”
The moment occurred during a comedy segment called “Gayer News” on Monday, August 19 — watch below at the 10:06 mark. In a classic newscaster voice, RuPaul stated, “Jimmy Kimmel has announced he will not host next year’s Oscars. The academy is still looking for an emcee with hosting experience,...

Oi there, listen up! Amazon Prime Video’s list of new releases for June 2024 includes another season of its biggest, bloodiest hit.
The Boys season 4 premieres its first three episodes on Thursday, June 13. Based on the trailers, The Boys is really leaning into the political side of its social satire with a presidential election underway and Homelander on trial for the small matter of killing a guy last season. The season will continue to air on Thursdays, culminating with the finale on July 18.
Amazon is really leaning into its sports offerings this month as well. Fans will get to watch the New York Yankees, the WNBA, and the Nwsl several times throughout June. That’s in addition to a couple of sports docs: Power of the Dream on June 18 and Federer: Twelve Final Days on June 20.
But if you’re looking for something even more explosive than Homelander and Roger Federer,...

Action shonen anime dominates the medium, for better and worse. Every big franchise eventually gets an original movie — or a dozen. "One Piece" has 15, "Dragon Ball" 24, and "Naruto" has 11.
The problem is that these mostly tend to be non canonical movies without much consequence. They are cute, fun adventures, for sure. Still, they are more concerned with providing fan service than providing substance. The best ones are those that manage to make the most out of their non canonical status and present truly experimental movies, like the best of the "One Piece" films.
Now comes "Spy x Family: Code White," a movie based on one of the most popular manga, published in Shonen Jump magazine — which makes this technically a shonen anime movie, regardless of its actual genre. The premise is simple. Loid is a spy, Yor is an assassin, and together they fake a family for convenience (and for...

It’s a fairly big month on Prime Video in March, at least compared to the other streaming service offerings! There are are two major films arriving on Amazon’s streamer. The first is a remake of the Patrick Swayze action classic Road House. Stepping into the late Swayze’s shoes? A crazy-jacked Jake Gyllenhaal, who really seemed to want to go the extra mile for this project.
The other big film coming to Prime Video is Ricky Stanicky, and the plot sounds really fun! It follows three friends who have always blamed their mistakes on an imaginary guy called Ricky Stanicky. When they have to finally introduce people to Stanicky, they decide to hire a washed-up actor (John Cena) to impersonate him. Hilarity ensues, maybe? But if neither of those make your watchlist, there’s also the return of the animated hit series Invincible.

This is going to stun anyone who grew up on 21st century superhero cinema (which kicked off in 2000 with Bryan Singer's "X-Men" and only now seems to be on the wane), but what if I told you that in the 1970s, there were television series dedicated to the Hulk, Wonder Woman, and Spider-Man, and they weren't the main small-screen pop cultural obsessions for sci-fi/fantasy fans? Not even close.
This is because every kid in America was crazy about "The Six Million Dollar Man."
Based on the novel "Cyborg" by Martin Caidin, "The Six Million Dollar Man" starred Lee Majors as astronaut Steve Austin, who's saved from certain death after the crash of an experimental aircraft when he is transformed into an experimental superhuman being via bionic implants. As the show's opening credits reminded us every week, these scientists made Majors "bigger, stronger, faster." He was as powerful as a bulldozer,...

Anyone who grew up in the 1970s can tell you the story of a lovely lady, who was bringing up three very lovely girls, and a man named Brady, who was busy with three boys of his own. Of course, one day, the lady met this fellow, and the rest is TV history. When Carol Martin (Florence Henderson) married Mike Brady (Robert Reed), all six of their children came together, along with their trusty maid Alice (Ann B. Davis), to become the sitcom family known as "The Brady Bunch."
"The Brady Bunch" is one of the most beloved and memorable sitcoms of all time. As of this writing, Greta Gerwig's new satire "Barbie" is poised to rake in close to $100 million in its opening weekend, making it a bone fide hit. Because it is opening alongside the equally hyped Christopher Nolan biopic "Oppenheimer" and the less-ballyhooed but well-reviewed horror film "Cobweb," the summer of 2023 is beginning to resemble the diversity of the 1990s. One might recall the weeks in 1995 when "The Brady Bunch Movie" was playing in theaters at the same time as "Outbreak," "Muriel's Wedding," and John Carpenter's "In the Mouth of Madness." Aesthetic diversity is back, baby.
Prior to "Barbie," Gerwig directed the semi-autobiographical coming-of-age drama "Lady Bird" and the awards darling "Little Women." With "Barbie," Gerwig has moved solidly into the realm of "commercially proven," leading to a well-moneyed Netflix offer for the director to make two new "Chronicles of Narnia" movies. I love movies more than just about anything else in the world, but if anything is going to rank higher on my personal hierarchy of needs, it's the promise of free stuff. The economy is in shambles and my rent just went up, so needless to say, I am all about anything that doesn't come with a price tag. We here at /Film have been preaching the gospel of Pluto TV, the free ad-supported streaming television (Fast) provider with thousands of titles in their library and specialized channels of constantly running programming, for years.
If you long for the days of turning on the TV in the middle of the afternoon on a Sunday and watching whatever it is the cable programming gods decided for you, this is the closest thing to capturing that feeling. Want to watch a horror movie? There's a channel for that. Hoping to check out...

As the calendar flips over to 2023, Prime Video is attempting to start a new year on the right track with fresh seasons of some major originals.
Prime Videos’ list of new releases for January 2023 is highlighted by Hunters season 2 on Jan. 13. The first season of Hunters was set in 1977 and followed young Jonah Heidelbaum’s (Logan Lerman) introduction to a world of Nazi-hunting. After a lengthy wait for season 2, the fresh (and final) batch of episodes will find Jonah and friends venturing to South American to take out none other than Adolf Hitler, himself.
While Nazi-hunting undoubtedly takes up a lot of streaming space, two other Amazon original series of note arrive in January. The Rig, a supernatural thriller set on a Scottish oil rig, premieres Jan. 6. That will be followed by season 2 of fantasy role-playing animated series The Legend of Vox Machina on Jan. 20.

The new year is upon us and Amazon Prime Video is kicking things off in grand fashion. Not only are they debuting the third season of their Tom Clancy adaptation “Jack Ryan,” they’re also debuting the final season of the ambitious, Al Pacino-starring actioner “Hunters.”
Initially debuting to the service in February of 2020, right as the pandemic started, the series’ first season follows a ragtag group of Nazi hunters in 1977 New York City. The so-called Hunters discover that hundreds of high-ranking Nazi officials are living in the United States and are conspiring to create a Fourth Reich in America. The Nazi hunters, led by Pacino, will embark on a bloody quest to bring the Nazis to justice and thwart their genocidal plans. The series concluded in 2020 and has taken some time to get back to screens. Unfortunately, this second season will be a finale as well so fans...

On NBC's '90s sci-fi sitcom "3rd Rock from the Sun," four aliens land on Earth and assume human identities: Dick (John Lithgow), Sally (Kristen Johnson), Harry (French Stewart), and Tommy (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) pose as the Solomon family. Harry -- and I'm trying my best to soften the language here -- is the unintelligent one; he's literally supposed to be the stupidest person in the universe. And Stewart plays the role to perfection. He made the character even funnier by improvising one of Harry's most memorable mannerisms: his signature squint.
"3rd Rock from the Sun" was created by married writing duo Bonny and Terry Turner, who are known for penning the scripts to "The Brady Bunch Movie," "Coneheads," and "Wayne's World." Before that, they worked as staff writers on "Saturday Night Live." There, they met and developed a friendship with John Lithgow when he served as the special guest host in the '80s.

Perhaps Wayne Knight's most popular performance was his recurring role as Newman, a disgruntled mailman and arch-nemesis of the titular character on the NBC sitcom "Seinfeld." Newman's mysteriously bitter feud with Jerry and string of failed get-rich-quick schemes with Kramer (Michael Richards) serve up a lot of good laughs, even more than 20 years later.

As Samuel L. Jackson said in the TV edit of David R. Ellis' 2006 hit film "Snakes on a Plane": "I have had it with these monkey-fighting snakes on this Monday to Friday plane!"
"Snakes on a Plane" was part of a curious cinematic trend in the mid-2000s that might be described as neo-grindhouse. The trend was an attempted revival of a certain kind of exploitation movie that was put back into vogue in the 1990s with nostalgia-driven, '70s-retro fare like "Boogie Nights," "The Ice Storm," "The Brady Bunch Movie," "Jackie Brown," and "Shaft." The last two starred Jackson. Even the 1977...

Exclusive: A Christmas Story Christmas, Warner Bros. and Legendary’s sequel to A Christmas Story for HBO Max, continues to ramp up its cast, adding four actors from the original 1983 film: Ian Petrella (Randy), Zack Ward (Scut Farkus), Scott Schwartz (Flick) and R.D. Robb (Schwartz).
The film follows an adult Ralphie in the 1970s as he returns to the house on Cleveland Street to deliver his kids a magical Christmas like the one he had growing up. Garth: What do you do if every time you see this one incredible woman, you think you’re gonna hurl?
Wayne: I say hurl. If you blow chunks and she comes back, she’s yours. But if you spew and she bolts, it was never meant to be.
Sage advice from two legends. Really, this line from the original Penelope Spheeris-helmed Wayne’s World (1992) sort of encapsulates a lot about what makes that film so great: its strength is its expert ability to elucidate intelligent truths, covertly bundled in the ramblings of airheads.
That movie was released 30 (!) years ago today, February 14th, 1992. It’s time for a most excellent look back at the classic blockbuster comedy, for those of us who don’t want to live in the now. Party on.

This will be well-remembered by members of Gen-x and Gen-y, but the 1990s were a ripe time for 1970s nostalgia. There was "The Brady Bunch Movie" in 1996, a wave of '70s genre-inflected indie crime cinema inspired by the popularity of "Pulp Fiction" in 1994. And there was, for its many, many fans, the long-running "That '70s Show," the Fox sitcom with the Big Star theme song. If you don't own a Big Star record yet, rectify that immediately. Also watch the 2012 documentary "Big Star: Nothing Can Hurt Me," 'cause it's good. But I'm not here to talk about Big Star.

Eleven months in to 2021, and Warner Bros. movie streaming strategy on HBO Max is still going strong. Now the list of new releases for November 2021 on HBO Max is highlighted by yet another big ticket film.
King Richard, starring Will Smith, is set to arrive on HBO Max and in theaters on Nov. 19. The movie will tell the story of Richard Williams, the father and coach of tennis legends Venus and Serena Williams. Smith is already getting some early awards buzz for the role so Oscar-heads may want to check this one out.

November is a good month for saying goodbye on HBO Max. The streaming platform will host the final 2021 episodes of HBO late-night staples “Real Time with Bill Maher” and the Emmy Award-winning “Last Week Tonight with John Oliver,” the season finales of Max originals “Love Life” and “Doom Patrol,” and also provide home viewers their last opportunity to watch “Dune” on HBO Max until sometime in 2022 (“Dune” leaves HBO Max on November 21).
But beyond those conclusions, there are some huge premieres as well: Oscar contender “King Richard” arrives on November 19 with Will Smith in the lead role, the back-half of “Gossip Girl” Season 1 will make its debut at some point, and the HBO Music Box series continues with the Alanis Morrisette documentary “Jagged” (which the singer roundly criticized) and a new feature on Dmx. All of that content, plus a number of library classics, including but not limited to “Moonstruck,...

Trailblazing director Betty Thomas will receive the DGA’s prestigious Robert B. Aldrich Award for her “extraordinary service to the guild and its members” at the 73rd Annual DGA Awards.
Veteran Upm Brian E. Frankish and longtime CBS operations’ associate director Joyce Thomas will receive special awards for their service to the guild and the industry. The awards show will be held on April 10, but the DGA isn’t saying yet whether it will be virtual or not.
All three recipients have long histories of service to the guild. Betty Thomas serves as the DGA’s secretary-treasurer – the guild’s second-highest elected officer.
“Betty means so much to our guild,” said DGA president Thomas Schlamme. “No matter how busy she’s been throughout her remarkable, ceiling-shattering directing career, she’s always placed service to her fellow members among her highest priorities, fighting for their creative and economic rights. Bayside High is set to reopen its doors with Peacock's Saved by the Bell sequel — but it looks a bit different than it did 30 years ago.

Literary adaptions and beloved franchises abound in the incoming May arrivals to Amazon Prime, Hulu, and Netflix. Amazon alone has acquired the screen revivals of multiple classic novels, including renditions of Charlotte Bronte’s “Jane Eyre,” Charles Dickens’ “Oliver Twist,” and Agatha Christie’s “Murder on the Orient Express.”
Also coming to Amazon and Hulu this May is the entire “Rocky” franchise, while Hulu has clinched all six “A Nightmare on Elm Street” movies. Netflix, meanwhile, will add scattered saga installments, including the original “Shrek,” “Scream 2,” and “High School Musical 3: Senior Year.”
A mix of original and acquired TV shows are also set to hit the streaming services next month. The new Showtime series “Patrick Melrose,” starring Benedict Cumberbatch, will stream on Hulu, while Amazon Prime will debut its original animated series “Rocky & Bullwinkle.” Also incoming are past seasons of shows like “Scandal,” “Orphan Black,” and “Running Wild With Bear Grylls.

The Brady Bunch kids are back together again!
Barry Williams (Greg), Christopher Knight (Peter), Mike Lookinland (Bobby) and Susan Olsen (Cindy) appeared on the Today show on Tuesday, where they talked about the impact the family sitcom still has today 48 years after its debut. The foursome also opened up about losing their beloved TV mom, Florence Henderson (Carol), who died in November.
"Everyone she met felt better about themselves, and about the world around them after having spent a moment with Florence," Knight said about the legendary actress.
