This is as good as a thriller can get. The Carl Hamilton saga picks up in a great manner with this TV miniseries from 1990. Peter Haber replaces Stellan Skarsgård as Hamilton and brings much intensity to the part. He shows that although he isn't as big name as Skarsgård, he is still a capable actor, perhaps as capable. Yevgeniy Lazarev makes a great supporting role as the unlikely and unexpected sidekick to Hamilton, the GRU officer Chivartchev.
The stages shift between Sweden, Russia and Palestine and there is a lot of exciting action. At the same time, the plot is very strong and involves a good deal of love scenes and dramatic scenes as well. Hamilton balances on the edge of the razor, caught in a spy game and torn between his relationship with a Swedish policewoman and infatuation with a beautiful Russian woman, Irina.
It is just such an enjoyable series and the original Hamilton author Jan Guillou provides an insightful opening commentary in each part. This is the best Sweden has to offer.

This is better than James Bond. Peter Haber is exellent as Hamilton. He is the swedish version of Sean Connery. Lots of talented swedish actors playing stupid säpo men. Let the hunt of Stig Sandström beginn. Buy the box now.

The Swedish agent Carl Hamilton in a spy story with an authentic background. A thriller at it's peak! Peter Haber is excellent as Carl Hamilton. If this film had been produced in English millions would have looked at it! There is a version with English subtitles - don't miss it!
