Thundercats was pure fantasy for me when I watched it in the 1980's. Thundercats is the type of cartoon you can watch and it makes you forget your troubles. The world can be a tough place sometimes so it's nice to be able to sit down and watch a bit of escapism, to be able to watch a world where the heroes always beat the bad guys.
I first watched Thundercats in 1985. However, I picked up a couple of videos of it in late 2001 and watched them. I still enjoyed them.
Thundercats was based on Third Earth which had the most beautiful scenery of any cartoon. Lion-O was the leader who was full of courage. He had a team he could depend on-the strong Panthro, the reliable Tygra and the beautiful Cheetara who could run really fast. They helped him in his battle against the evil Mum-Ra (one of the best cartoon baddies ever in my opinion, certainly more evil than Skeletor from He-Man).
The stories were very good like most 1980's stories. My favourite part of each episode was where Lion-O used to call his friends with the aid of the Sword of Omens whenever he was in trouble.
This was a great series with a brilliant theme tune.
