Krantz was born Judith Tarcher on January 9, 1928 in New York City, the eldest child of an advertising executive and an attorney. After growing up in New York City where she graduated from the Birch Wathen School at age 16, she enrolled at Wellesley College, graduating in 1948.
After graduating, Krantz moved to Paris, where she worked as a fashion publicist. The following year, she returned to New York, where she embarked on a career in magazine journalism. She worked at Good Housekeeping before being promoted to Fashion Editor.

“I’ll kill that plumber!”
Super Mario Bros. screens Wednesday, July 5th at 8pm at Schlafly Bottleworks Restaurant and Bar (7260 Southwest Ave.- at Manchester – Maplewood, Mo 63143) as part of Webster University’s Award-Winning Strange Brew Film Series. Admission is $5
Super Mario Bros. was one of those movies that received hideous reviews when it came out in 1993, but has developed a cult following thanks to fond memories of all the young boys who saw it when it was new and are now adults. Super Mario Bros. was not based directly on the games, but rather lives in the world of it. It would not have been wise to make a movie with a silent plumber hitting his head off bricks and jumping down green tubes. Sometimes artistic license is necessary.
The Mario Bros. (Bob Hoskins and John Leguiziamo) are still at their respective trades but live in Manhattan and are...

Shelby and Cyd’s time-traveling adventures elicits more consequences in Season 2 of Disney Channel’s “Best Friends Whenever.” In this exclusive clip (above), one of those consequences makes itself known in the form of 16th century Princess Daisy (“The Voice” alum Bryana Salaz), who has unwittingly traveled to 2016 due to a time rift created by the besties, played by Lauren Taylor and Landry Bender. This causes all sorts of fish-out-of-water comedic opportunities, of course, such as when she does the chivalrous thing and vanquishes the spirit residing inside a smart phone — by stomping it to pieces. Digital Spy presents Games on Film, a look back at the numerous (and quite often disastrous) movies based on video games. How closely do they stick to their source material, and how well do they hold up on their own merits?
Previous Games on Film: Resident Evil
Super Mario Bros (1993)
How do you turn a wacky concept like Super Mario Bros into a film? That was the conundrum faced by directors Rocky Morton and Annabel Jankel when they inherited the project from French producer Roland Joffe in the early '90s.
Just how Joffe managed to convince Nintendo that a live-action movie about a plumber who stomps on turtles and smashes blocks with his head was a good idea is anybody's guess, but the gaming giant did endorse the venture.
Due to the nature of the source material, a direct adaptation was pretty much impossible, so scriptwriters Jim Jennewein and...

Movie merchandise is big business. But some people will try and slap the name of The Avengers or Batman on anything...
Cool film stuff can be almost as fun as actually going to the movies. Think of a Batman cape, an Arnold Schwarzenegger action figure, or Goldeneye on the N64. Hell, the merchandising can often be more enjoyable than the actual film – remember how much fun the first few months of 1999 were before Star Wars: The Phantom Menace was actually released?
Yet, in the chase to make a quick buck out of devoted fans, some... let's just say less relevant, movie merchandise is churned out and flogged to the public.
Here then are 50 of the strangest (not ranked in order!) – expect action figures of obscure henchmen, 16-carat gold Twilight jewellery and some truly vomit-inducing burgers…
1. Spider-Man 3 / The Dark Knight – Burger King’s Dark Whopper

Super Mario Bros: The Movie will receive a comic book sequel.
The comic book creators have been meeting with the film's writer to create an in-canon follow-up.
"Following discussions with original writer Parker Bennett, Steven Applebaum and Ryan Hoss have scripted a new adventure that continues right where the film left off," reads the project's website.
"Join Mario, Luigi and Princess Daisy as they explore new locations and creatures inspired by the games, yet adapted in the film's unique cyberpunk style."
The story will incorporate elements that had been intended for a movie sequel.
The 1993 film Super Mario Bros: The Movie starred Bob Hoskins, John Leguizamo and Dennis Hopper.

Rupert Everett accidentally swore on live television earlier today (May 1).
The British actor was appearing as a guest on ITV's Loose Women this afternoon, when he said "f**k" during a discussion.
Everett was discussing an incident in the 1980s when he was convinced he had contracted HIV while shooting a TV series.
He said: "For the first few years of HIV, you couldn't test for it. When my whole career started I thought I was on a death sentence.
"I remember once I was doing this miniseries called Princess Daisy. You can see it in the film, I was bitten by a mosquito."
He added: "I looked at the mosquito bite and thought, 'F**k, this is it!'"
Everett instantly realised what he had said, adding: "Sorry everyone!"
Host Carol Vorderman apologised to viewers, saying: "We do apologise for some naughty language."
Tom Hanks apologised for swearing in...

As news of a new movie hits, we look at the remarkable things to spot in the infamous Super Mario Bros movie...
Adapting any art form into a movie presents a tricky proposition. It is, after all, easy to fall into the trap of being too reverential to the source material - whether it happens to be a play, novel or old television show you're making into a feature film, there has to be an element of invention, of reworking the source material into something that stands on its own as a piece of entertainment and - dare we say it - art.
This would go some way to explaining why Super Mario Bros., the 1993 feature-length adaptation of Nintendo's hit videogame series, only vaguely resembles the property on which it was meant to be based. Released in a busy summer season - one dominated by another flick with dinosaurs in it,...

It’s a mere few weeks away from the release of Nintendo’s eagerly awaited 3Ds racer Mario Kart 7.
Along with Super Mario 3D Land, the game has boosted interest in the 3Ds and pushes the handheld towards a brilliant future. Taken on its own terms, Mario Kart 7 is also one of the biggest and most anticipated entries in the series to date.
While Mario Kart has always been a series heavily built on a tried and tested formula, Mario Kart 7 boasts a hefty amount of content and changes to the series – perhaps that’s the reason why we’re getting a fully fledged numbered sequel, rather than an entry which simply sticks ‘3D’ onto the end of the title.
We’ve put together a handy guide to everything you need to know about the upcoming racer, taking a look at brand new features as well as the return of...

Super Mario 3D Land is finally released to the cheers of rejoicing 3Ds owners this Friday.
It’s as good a time as any to take a look back at some of Mario’s previous handheld adventures and spin-offs throughout the years.
This isn’t a list of every single one of Mario’s portable adventures, but rather a handpicked selection of some of the highs – and lows – of Mario’s long history as the face of Nintendo’s portable consoles, from the humble Game Boy to the innovative 3Ds.
You might be a little busy trying to earn killstreaks or exploring the world of Skyrim this week, but don’t forget about that little Italian plumber who continues to be one of gaming’s greatest icons – pretty impressive for someone who spends all of his time scrounging for coins and stomping on fungi.
Check it out, and make sure...

It looks like the theme that has developed over the course of Curb Your Enthusiasm’s eighth season is that Larry David can’t seem keep a woman he’s courting around for too long. At some point, either he or the Fates — who always seem to be conspiring against him — will do something to bring an end to those relationships. Geopolitics came in between Larry and the owner of his favorite Palestinian chicken place. Another relationship ceased to exist the moment he refused to express sorrow over the passing of the woman’s father (who happened to have died two years ago). In tonight’s episode, “The Hero”: it was shoelaces. We pick up where we left off last week, with Larry still enjoying his Pinkberry on the flight to New York. A beautiful blonde named Donna (Samantha Mathis, who you might remember as Princess Daisy from the...

In the short, eventful history of videogaming, is there anyone more fundamentally tragic than Mario’s brother, Luigi? He is one of the most well-known game heroes. He has starred in several of the greatest and most popular games in history. In sharp contrast to his older brother — a failed physician-turned-racecar driver who throws horrible, endless parties and resembles a less fashionable clone of Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec — Luigi is tall, slender, and affable. He can jump extremely high. He owns a mansion. And yet, he is forever trapped in the shadow of his more famous sibling. No one will ever refer to Luigi as “Super.

It's going to be a crowded year; tickets sold out six months ago, and the first panels on Thursday morning are filled to the brim. We're not talking the giant halls where the studios camp out and show off trailers to six thousand people at a time who had to wait in a four hour line in the sun. Not those Rube Goldberg versions of YouTube. Even the little ones are packed.
The Power of Myth is a panel discussion in one of the smaller rooms, eight novelists crammed elbow to elbow on a little stage with the owner of a local sci-fi bookstore moderating their discussion. Here's the cut and paste list of the authors: Amber Benson (the Calliope Reaper-Jones Novels), Esther Friesner (Sphinx's Princess), Thomas Greanias (The Promised War), Lev Grossman (The Magicians), Les Klinger (editor, The New Annotated Dracula), Seanan McGuire (the October Daye novels), Michael Scott...
