In a 2015 interview, Henry Darrow had great things to say about the show and David Janssen. When asked how he got along with Janssen, he answered: "Wonderfully. He had a marvelous, dry sense of humor. We pulled jokes on each other here and there. When I was being replaced, he waited for me when he finished shooting earlier in the afternoon. Harvey Frand, the executive at Warner Brothers who oversaw production, recalled in the 1989 book "Murder on the Air" that "the experience was wonderful because we had a good crew, and because of David. Who he was shaped what the series was about."

Walter Dominguez, who worked on "Harry O," said in a 2013 interview about David Janssen: "He was a sweet, sweet man. I was an apprentice. I was an assistant director trainee. When they reassigned me, after being on his show for a while, they reassigned me to another show, he stopped everything, he had a little party, he gave me a gold pen and pencil set with my name inscribed on it. He just couldn't have been a nicer person."
