Standing Tall - was filmed almost entirely in Siskiyou County, California. The opening scene and the branding scenes were filmed on our ranch in Siskiyou County. The rodeo scene was filmed at the Etna, California rodeo grounds. The final shootout scene was filmed on Forest Mountain between Yreka and Fort Jones. The stockyard scenes were shot at Siskiyou stockyards near Yreka, California. I originally was renting our ranch locations and horses, cattle and wagons to the movie company. When they were filming a chase scene a lot of the extras fell off their horses so we were holding the stock and were put in to finish the scene. After that we got to be in quite a bit of the movie. Some of the indoor scenes were shot in Little Shasta and south of Medford, Oregon. Ron Lillard the local fair manager and a professional rodeo announcer announced the rodeo. In the scene where one of the rodeo contestants got hung up and walked on - this really happened and was kept in the movie. Will Sampson was quite an artist and was always drawing stills of some of the scenes in the movie. Sammy Thurman a great rodeo lady in her own right did the roping and stand ins for Linda Evans. Billy Burton was one of the stunt men and did filming from horseback. Buck Taylor was a pleasure to be around and has become an accomplished western artist.
