You may have always thought that war comedies do not get any more surreal and farcical than, say, M.A.S.H., 1941, Duck Soup, or Dr. Strangelove. Well, this one does - by a country mile.
That makes it certainly stand out, but it also makes it a rather acquired taste. The film betrays its comic-strip origins by not pursuing a lengthy plot but rather focusing on a flood of farcical comedy elements. The humour is often crude and shallow, but occasionally it goes deeper and hits harder. The easily offended should certainly stay away.
