Both movies feature similar moments of children stumbling across people who they think are "sleeping," shots of their feet to reveal that they are corpses of recently deceased.
Ransom money is thrown from a moving train at the end of a bridge. Hence the plans of the money throwers are spoiled. Also this film is one of the favourites of Joel Coen (src: Time Out, 1995) and was Joel's choice for the Ballerina Ballroom Cinema of Dreams festival.
