This enjoyable and intriguing motion picture was competent and professionally directed by Miguel Lluch. It deals with Carlos (Julian Mateos) a young ¨señorito¨ accustomed to satisfying his every desire thanks to his rich uncle, Don Antonio (Luis Induni) , the wealthy owner of a rural area . When the cocky boy begins to feel attracted to Inés (Sonia Bruno) , he decides to assault his house with the help of his faithful companion and bodyguard Ramón (Sergio Doré) and with the complicity of the town watchman. Then the local doctor (Victor Valverde) is accused for a grisly killing .
The picture is developed with tension , suspense , emotion , adequate interpretation, and the exciting deeds are unfolded with absolute logic until the final outcome in Agatha Christie style and in which all suspect people are reunited by the stubborn Judge instructor finely played by Fernando Sancho . An appropriate and interesting production in short budget that alrightly copies adequately most of the characters of the classsic Noir Film . One of the best films at the time that stands out for its commitment to show explicitly grisly violence, an element already highlighted in ¨A Sangre Fria¨(1959 Juan Bosch) and that would be used by several directors as a properly criminal resource and besides, it would also bring a certain modernity to Spanish films. It is also interesting for its setting in a rural environment governed by the typical cacique, in which the love passion triggers several crimes, as well as the suspicion of the false culprit -another reason of the genre- that will serve to launch a moralizing message. This ¨Crimen¨ (1964) was made back to back ¨El precio de un asesino¨ (1963), both of whom share same actors , cameraman Víctor Monreal , musician Enrique Escobar and director , dealing with criminal events , though the plot is different , as the latter concerning a sibling rivalry between two opposite brothers , a priest : Julián Mateos and a delinquent : Victor Valverde, resulting in fateful consequences
This nice film ¨Crimen¨ (1964) belongs to the Spanish Film Noir of the Fifties and Sixties , whose main center was in Barcelona and Madrid, at times ; other great titles also located within a Barcelona or Madrid production are the following ones : "Distrito Quinto" (Julio Coll,1957) , ¨Brigada criminal¨(1950) Ignacio F Iquino , ¨A sangre fría (1959)¨by Juan Bosch , ¨Un vaso de Whisky¨(Julio Coll) , or "A Tiro Limpio" (1963), by Francisco Pérez-Dolz , ¨el precio de usn asesino¨ (1963) by Miguel Lluch, ¨091 Policia al habla¨ by Jose Maria Forqué and the best Noir resulted to be "Los Peces Rojos" (1955) by José Antonio Nieves Conde .
This well paced and compellingly played production that stunningly brings most of the roles of the classsic Noir Film was nicely filmed by Miguel Lluch. This craftsman was a competent filmmaker who made all kinds of genres : adventure , comedy , drama , thriller with skillness and intelligence enough such as : El halcón del desierto , La chica del autostop, Crimen , El precio de un asesino ,Taxi , Un demonio con ángel , Fra Diávolo , Las estrellas , Botón de ancla , Los claveles , Sitiados en la ciudad, La montaña sin ley, among others .
