The opening dedication is to the memory of Dr. Thomas John Barnardo (1845-1905) who was the founder of homes for orphans in Great Britain. His charity, founded in 1866 as a school in London's East End to care for and educate children orphaned by a cholera outbreak is still in existence as of 2017 as Bernardo's with 5,000 employees and 17,000 volunteers.
The quote at the end of the film is from Dr. Barnardo's memoirs, page 274, published by his widow in 1907.
As Geoffrey (Freddie Bartholomew) jumps on board Queen Mary, the seaman attempting to release a hook from the gangway is seen to fall from the railing...but the scene cuts away before showing whether he fell into the water between ship and pier or onto the gangway.
Screenwriter James Kevin McGuinness placed an ad in the Hollywood Reporter titled "Facts" breaking down the writing credits for the script by number of lines, as follows: Himself - 853; Walter Ferris - 51; Sam Wood - 17; Frank Davis - 20; Ferris, Val Burton, Endre Bohem and Bradford Ropes - 37; Ropes, Burton and Bohem - 48; Ropes and Burton - 4 for a total of 1,030 lines of dialogue.
