"Building a Building" from 1933 is a remake of the 1928 Oswald The Lucky Rabbit Cartoon "Sky Scrappers".
"Building a Building" from 1933 was nominated, at the "6th Academy Awards" for the "Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film". It lost to Disney's 1933 Silly Symphony Cartoon "Three Little Pigs". "Building a Building" is also the second Mickey Mouse Cartoon to get nominated for an "Academy Award".
While Mickey fights Pete, Minnie puts hot rivets in Pete's pants in "Building a Building" from 1933. This is very similar to the 1930 Mickey Mouse Cartoon "Pioneer Days", in which Mickey fights one of the Indians and Minnie comes to the rescue, by putting hot coal in the Indian's pants.
The "Lunch!" call in "Building a Building" from 1933 was reused in the 1945 Goofy Cartoon "Tiger Trouble". It was also reused in the seventh episode of "Mickey Mouse Works", "Sandwich Makers".
The steam shovel Mickey operates in "Building a Building" from 1933 reappeared in the 2010 video game "Epic Mickey" during Mickeyjunk Mountain.
