The giant anthills are real and were an accidental discovery while filming Hermit Bob in the woods. Jim liked them so much he added the scene and dialogue spontaneously.

When Officer Morrison decides she doesn't want to remain in the car, she opens the back door. Police cars do not have doors in the back that open from the inside. This keeps those that have been arrested from any attempts to exit the vehicle. On the Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor, there is a switch on the edge of the rear door frame that can easily be engaged or disengaged to prevent the rear door from operating from the inside. They are sometimes called "child safety locks" or "childproof locks".

The opening Focus Features logo is seen glitching once at the start of the movie, briefly showing zombies and a burning house.
