Today, Heroic Signatures announced the company is in production on its first animated feature film for its popular franchise, Mutant: Year Zero. Based on Mutant: Year Zero Road to Eden, a tactical adventure video game first released in 2018, the film follows an unlikely team of animal mutants as they navigate a post-apocalyptic wasteland in search of answers.

Dolph Lundgren and Ian McElhinney will lend their voices to the feature, with more talent to be announced soon.

The Mutant: Year Zero film is being produced using Unreal Engine 5 in an innovative approach to video game IP adaptation. The team will introduce all-new animation assets that expand the storyline of Mutant: Year Zero Road to Eden, which was developed using Unreal technology, while additionally revitalizing original assets for a cinematic experience.

Max Beyond tells the story of Max, a young boy held captive in a research facility. Using his ability to create rifts in the fabric of spacetime across parallel universes, he searches for the reality in which his brother Leon, a former-marine, manages to rescue him. With attempt after attempt ending in Leon’s death, the strain starts to take its toll on both brothers. When Max discovers his captors are using his power against him, he realizes he must stop focusing on how the story ends and rewrite the story from the beginning.

Anna Cathart’s Kitty Song Covey is ready to head to Korea in the first trailer for Netflix and Awesomeness Studios’ “To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before” spinoff series, “Xo Kitty.”

“Teen matchmaker Kitty Song Covey thinks she knows everything there is to know about love,” the show’s official logline states. “But when she moves halfway across the world to reunite with her long-distance boyfriend, she’ll soon realize that relationships are a lot more complicated when it’s your own heart on the line.”

The 10-episode series, which will premiere globally May 18 on Netflix, is executive produced by creator and co-showrunner Jenny Han, co-showrunner Sascha Rothschild and Ace Entertainment’s Matt Kaplan. The series is directed by Jennifer Arnold, Jeff Chan, Pamela Romanowsky and Katina Medina Mora.

In 1980s Chicago, a 10-year-old sets out on a quest to get the Christmas gift of his generation: the latest and greatest video-game system.

Directed by Michael Dowse, 8-Bit Christmas stars Neil Patrick Harris and Winslow Fegley as the adult and young Jake, respectively, June Diane Raphael, with David Cross, and Steve Zahn (The White Lotus).

Exclusive: Sofia Rosinsky (Fast Layne), Camryn Jones (Cherish the Day), Riley Lai Nelet (Altered Carbon) and Fina Strazza (A Christmas Melody) are set as the four leads in Amazon’s Paper Girls series, based on Brian K. Vaughan and Cliff Chiang’s graphic novel, from Amazon Studios, Legendary TV and Plan B. Paper Girls is set to film in Chicago this year.

Paper Girls follows four young girls who, while out delivering papers on the morning after Halloween in 1988, become unwittingly caught in a conflict between warring factions of time-travelers, sending them on an adventure through time that will save the world. As they travel between our present, the past, and the future — they encounter future versions of themselves and now must choose to embrace or reject their fate.

NBC has released the first trailer for Season 6 of “The Blacklist,” which will return with a two-night/two-part premiere event beginning Jan. 3 at 10 p.m. Et/Pt and continuing Jan. 4 at 9 p.m. Following the revelation that Raymond “Red” Reddington (James Spader) isn’t who he says he is, Elizabeth Keen (Megan Boone) is torn between the relationship she’s developed with the man assumed to be her father and her desire to get to the bottom of secrets and lies. She is ready to tackle the challenge head-on, just as she has with everything else in life, but her confidence is shaken when she faces roadblocks at every turn—getting lost in the confusing hallways, being late to class and facing rejection during soccer tryouts from her frenemy, Bonnie.

Kim’s day starts to turn around when she and Ron meet and befriend Athena, a new classmate and Kim Possible superfan who is having an even worse day than Kim. With Kim’s guidance and friendship, Athena transforms into the newest member of Team Possible.

Travis Braun has entered an overall deal with Disney Channels Worldwide, Variety has learned exclusively.

Under the deal, Braun will develop and produce both animated and live-action content across Disney Channel, Disney Xd, Disney Junior, as well as Disney’s upcoming direct-to-consumer streaming service.

“Travis has created and written some of the most imaginative content for our audiences, spanning live-action and animation,” said Nancy Kanter, executive vice president of content and creative strategy at Disney Channels Worldwide and general manager of Disney Junior. “We are very much looking forward to this partnership and to

exploring the inventive new ideas he comes up with next.”

Disney Junior has given the green light to T.O.T.S., an animated comedy for kids age 2-7, for premiere in 2019.

Created by Travis Braun (Disney Junior’s Vampirina and Disney Channel’s upcoming series Fast Layne), T.O.T.S. is about the hilarious adventures of best friends Pip and Freddy, a tenacious penguin and a kind-hearted flamingo, who are the only non-stork delivery birds in-training at Tiny Ones Transfer Service (T.O.T.S.). As new members of the esteemed team, these junior flyers must take tender care in transferring baby animals – kittens, cubs, calves, bunnies, puppies and joeys among them – from the nursery to their forever families around the globe. Together, they will learn how to nurture and care for the babies and use creative thinking and problem solving to model for young viewers that there isn’t just one way to achieve a goal.
