When it was announced that the third season would be the series' last, it was assumed that Netflix decided to end the show; the streaming platform has become known for rarely airing an original series for more than three to four seasons. However, the series' creator Liz Feldman revealed that it was her suggestion to wrap up the show with Season 3. Feldman said that her decision was inspired by the British comedy-drama Fleabag (2016). Feldman noted that the series aired for two seasons and only 12 episodes, but told a complete story without "filler" episodes.
