Now Someone keeps reporting my reviews. I guess they are jealous because I do tell the truth. I want to point out that I never make snide remarks about actors weight or real life sexual orientation. If there acting is terrible or limited "I talk about that". If a story is bad "I will mention that" So why am I being "picked on"? IMDB? When one of my reviews gets deleted IMDB will not even tell me what someone found offensive. Well on to this review.

This film is about people being "solo". New girl at school trying to fit in. There is the ice queen of the school who feels she is on her own after her mother ran out on her & her dad. Then there is the two "Single Parents" trying to figure everything. Being "Solo" at Christmas isn't easy for various reasons.

Now when the single parents stumble into the possibility of love for Christmas, they discover that their daughters are embroiled in a nasty rivalry at school. When the rivalry gets out of control, everyone comes clean about where they are in life. Most of all nobody is criticized for "Sharing Their Feelings".

Well Done.

I enjoyed the line "Boyfriend for Christmas," which refers to one of Kelli Williams' earlier Christmas movies which I generally watch each year. Kelli has graduated from child to parent in this movie that deals with bullying and forgiveness. I appreciated how the film showed parents can often exacerbate a bad situation among teens, but, also, they can be instrumental in healing them. As the movie was a feel-good holiday flick, it ends happily. Wish it were so simple in real life.

This movie would've been so much better without the Melissa character. Angry teenager or not, she was beyond ridiculous.

Christmas Solo has two stories in one.

Jennifer is a vet who has moved to a small town with her teenage daughter Charlotte from San Francisco. Jennifer ends up tussling with Nate over some fancy Christmas decorations the only ones left in the store as no one in these small towns has heard of ebay or Amazon.

However both find romance with each other but there is a fly in the ointment. Nate also has a teenage daughter Melissa and she is not happy that Charlotte has nabbed the solo at the school Christmas concert.

Melissa has turned mean girl on Charlotte including having her house daubed with graffiti.

This is a nice enough Christmas film, maybe it needed a few more better songs but the ending was a little bit too sweet and convenient. Obviously the police in these small towns are not too hot on pursuing people for criminal damage to private property.

The credits section at the beginning looked like the tacky flower pictures my 70yo mom posts on Facebook. I didn't expect much after that - but the movie managed to surprise me im a good way.

You can clearly see it had low budget. It looks like a reality TV episode. Not enough extras on the set. And some od the acting is beyond cheesy (the scene where MJ sneaks up to Charlotte...).

MJ character acts like she is 5. And then from angsty teen she just jumps to being the sweet girl in one scene with mandatory makeup style change to indicate she's a good one now. The parents fall for each other a bit too quickly for credibility. And all the usual romcom BS.

The plot is mostly predictable as hell, but it's a Christmas romcom, it's enough if it entertains me. And it did.

The final song scene is too perfect for an unrehersed performance, but OK, for this kind of movie let's roll with it.

The other thing is that for comedy it is not funny at all. What made me laugh at the end was that the song they played on end credits was not long enough for them to end, so instead of playing another song there was just dead silence.

Tinkling background music...your Christmas season flick 2 101...fake snow as sun shines in back of the scenes... Another wonderful holiday adventure...NOT!!!

My original review: This movie has elements in common with a few other Christmas movies revolving around a rivalry and a romance, but it goes deeper than the others I can think of. I'm glad to see the writers didn't try to check off every possible Christmas tradition to fill screen time, but instead stayed focused on the issues related to the theme of the movie.

This movie makes it clear fairly quickly that the "villain" is anything but and that she too is a person in need. At the same time it deals with bullying of a new student, although it doesn't offer any overly simplistic solutions.

Like so many Christmas movies, it wraps up too many things a little too neatly, and uses an unbelievably courageous teen to help it along, but what else would we expect? Still it is an UPlifting movie with excellent family values.

Addendum added about 18 months later: I just watched a movie that gave me an aha moment regarding bullying. It made me think back to this one and I had to watch it again, I realize it does offer one possibility as a defense for bullying. The girl's defense is her very deep rooted belief in who she is and her values. This allows her to not only say no to despair, but to go beyond what society expects to love her neighbor even when that neighbor was acting like an enemy. And she couldn't have done that without loving support of her mother and some faithful friends.

The actions of Charlotte display the true meaning of Christmas that goes closer to the real reason for the season than almost any TV dares to go now a days. It's more than just being with family. It IS about new beginnings and a kind of new birth that come from forgiveness that was made possible by the one whom we celebrate. Joy to the World.

This movie had potential but is ruined by a couple different elements; most notably is that it feels like nothing more than an after-school special with a sappy Christmas theme. Second is the ending. Our angsty antagonist a true blue bully by all definitions suffers no consequences to her behavior! I cynically feel like she manipulates her way into getting exactly what she wants in the end.

Christmas movie that blends the very classic Christmas movie themes with the classic teen drama themes and does this stuff in a bad way, creating a very boring and very banal film that bores you for its entire duration in a terrible and terrible way. The plot is about two singles with one daughter each who want to get together and the two daughters hate each other because one is unnaturally bad and the other is unnaturally good. Therefore trivial and very badly structured film with a plot that drags on with a terrible effort for its entire duration. In conclusion this film is an unwatchable and meaningless waste of time.

Just another example of the lie of toxic masculinity perpetuated by the brain dead woke mob. Toxic femininity is worse but, of course, is covered up by these idiots.

Christmas Solo is a delicacy amidst a sea of "Christmas cookie cutter" movies. There are no "weak" elements of the movie. Acting, wardrobe, everything is good. The chemistry between the parents is amazing. This isn't a typical romance movie and yet they are so good that they "sell it" anyway. Every scene with them together is believable and not under-acted nor over-acted. It is "just right". This will seem a bit random, but whoever was on hair did an incredible job. Jennifer's (Kelly William's) hair always looks AMAZING. In many Christmas movies, there is some kind of pain that the main character(s) is having to overcome from the past. However, it feels more like just "backstory". Here, the pain of well...all of the four character's pasts is very much real and in the story. Great storytelling, great story. Nicely written too. I highly recommend this movie.

Why do so called actors have to do the weird uh oh umm sorry oh um crap every time they speak to men. It is so unrealistic lame overused cliche not interesting, funny or cute anymore. For the love of all that is good can you make a cheap stupid movie that is literally not exactly the same as the other billion movies.

I will have to say the mean girl almost was original being a psycho ex friend???? At least it was different.

Lastly for the love of all that is holy stop trying to make Christmas songs sexy. Everything is not and doesn't need to be sexy. Ugh. Really pushed the boundaries with a child trying to be sexy singing silent night.

Please Ignore all negative reviews about this film. Here we have a single dad and single mum with daughters who are rivals at school.

We have a mum and a dad who date, but she splits up with him due to the antics of his daughter.

The ending is wonderful, and it would be so nice if all kids got on so well.

A lovely film well worth 10 stars.

I liked the movie, just wondered why they changed the words to "Joy to the World" at the end of the movie?

I love the dual storylines for mother and daughter to watch together. And I appreciated the light shed in bullying and grief.

This movie had real depth and dealt with real life issues in a realistic way. Kelli Williams is an old pro and both lead characters were believable and had chemistry. Most movies of this type feel like they brought in characters off the street - especially teen actors. This one had a strong supporting cast and is was hard to ignore Ricky He & Kayla Wallace who put in robust performances and should have good careers. I enjoy scripts that offer real humor and this one did so very deftly.

Why in the world would you change the words to the common Christmas carol Joy to the World? It's "Heaven and nature sing" not Heaven and angels sing. Good acting but the writer and editor should have had a pay cut not to catch this obvious mistake.

There are two stories in this movie, and as a parent of a 20 year old (who is, like the teen characters, totally into music) I was thoroughly engaged by both.

The romance between Williams' and Scarfe's characters is superbly written in five short scenes that deftly go from first meeting to almost first kiss. Aided by the easy-going, conversational charm and chemistry of the leads (plus a deliciously comical cameo by the wickedly funny Lucie Guest) their relationship is one of my all time Hallmark favorites.

That it all goes off he rails because of the dischord created by his daughter's jealousy at being usurped by her daughter's natural vocal talent makes it all the more entertaining,
