Two of the greatest 2 season tragedies in television. Your Honor and Heels.
This show isn't just for wrestling fans, it opens the door to the sport with a witty script and characters you will invest in. Real life situations are depicted in Heels which are a painful reminder of what grass root wrestling organisations go through. The fighting siblings, the washed up wrestler making a return, defecting wrestlers, promoters at loggerheads, the ascension of women in wrestling. The show has it all and you will be glued especially if you are a wrestling fan. You even went back to watch old matches just to compare.
Kelli Berglund is amazing in the role and it's evident she has trained her socks off to be authentic
This show is well done and truly an honor to the sport. It needs to be picked up by another network if Starz don't realise what they have.

I just finished Season 1 of Heels and came away pretty impressed. It's a show that's absolutely worth watching. I came into the show already a fan of both Stephen Amell & Alexander Ludwig but this show made even a bigger fan. They both do an incredible job here as does the supporting cast. Those two play two brothers in a Georgia community that own, run and participate in an independent wrestling company. It shows the rivalry between the brothers both in the ring and in their regular lives as they try to grow the company. I already knew about the wrestling world and how independent organizations struggle to keep up but you don't have to be a fan of wrestling to enjoy this show. The writing is just as good as the acting as it will pull you in from the very first episode. I can't wait for another season.
I hate that Starz canceled this show on a cliffhanger, so if you like a complete storyline don't start heels like I did. I loved the two seasons and I don't know what show to compare it to maybe Kingdom and the movie fighting with my family. I really hope another Network like Netflix or Prime picks this show up and gives it the two or three more seasons it deserves. Alof of people don't have Starz, if it was on Netflix it would be a really popular hit show guaranteed. Someone please let Amell and company compete this show, I mean Netflix did it for Manifest but they blew that one big time.....

I can't believe that you cancelled Heels. What a great show with great stories and great characters. Not to mention that you left it on a stone cold cliffhanger!! WTF?? You have so many shows that are just unbelievable and have nothing to do with the human contact between each other and then you cancel one of the only shows that has that. They say that they are looking for another home for the show. Wherever it ends up I will be subscribing. It's just too good not to get the chance to continue. Heels was the only reason I kept my Starz account. I guess that's about to end. Way to go Starz, you keep the junk and cancel the worthy.

Being a fan of of both Stephen Amell (Arrow) and Alexander Ludwig (Vikings) I was looking to this ever since I first heard about it. Well this show not only met my expectations but surpassed them. I'm also a fan of wrestling, not a die hard fan like some other people reviewing here, but still a fan. Even though it's probably more enjoyable if you know you're wrestling, you don't have to be a fan to like this show. It's good regardless if you're a wrestling fan or not. Both Amell and Ludwig are excellent in this. They've both come a long way as actors and really show their talent here. I'm glad to hear this did well enough to her renewed for another season.

I grew up with my dad and brother watching wresting, but I never really paid much attention to it. Heels starts strong and draw you in right away. I don't think you need to be a wresting fan to enjoy this. Ultimately, this is the story of rivalry between two brothers and anyone that has siblings can understand to that.
You already know it's gonna be a winner the way the first episode ends. It's a lot more than wrestling and the showmanship behind it. The leads are gonna make this show very very entertaining but also have a lot of depth too. Looking forward to the rest of the series!

Stephen Amell really shines as the conflicted champion/owner of the family wrestling business.
The entire cast is stellar.
It really reminds me of Friday Night Lights just with wrestling. If the series continues to hold up on the quality of the pilot episode, it might reach the heights of the show it resembles.
Highly recommend!

I enjoy Wrestling fairly in general and knowing both main actors from Arrow and Vikings it was a no brainer to watch the show. I was surprised to see this has only 8 episodes tough, wich in my opinion is a low count, i would had expected 10 at least but oh well.
Overall i taught it was a good show, and everybody played well their part. The story had some flaw especially when it comes to how they deal the wrestling aspect (the action itself is well done) but it didn't bother me too much. The show is set in the current time but seem to somewhat stick to old tropes of the 80s wrestling. For instance the character of Crystal who wants to be a wrestler but everybody sees her as just a vallet.
Ultimately tough after having watched season 1, i am very curious to see where they will go with Season 2. At the moment of writing this, it was not renew yet so i really hope it does, because there is potential with this show.

Not a wrestling fan but this is pretty good. Hope this get's a second season because it's much more than wrestling, it's a good drama that makes you think on what you wish or goals you want to achieve in this life.
Drama about a brothers that run and participate in a pro wrestling venue in small town Georgia. I have never seen anything like it before, so it gets points for originality at the very least.
Grades:
Acting: C+ One actress has a noticeably bad southern accent, but most of the actors do a good enough job to sell the story.
Story: B- Good pace, action, and even romantic subplots. One can find flaws if you look for them, but something about this story it held my interest.
Production: B The show looks pretty good to me, no unrealistic sets or bad camera work that I noticed.
Bottom Line: You don't need to have an interest in pro wrestling to be entertained.

Great stars and acting but the storyline is really bad. They had to drag a 30 mins angle to one full hour and gave the worst swerve at the end of the pilot. If you're a wrestling fan or not, GLOW wrestling series was fun and exciting to get hooked on unlike this 1 hour long garbage.
If you haven't watch it, watch the first five minutes, bake a cake 🍰🎂 and come back for the last five minutes after doing all the chores you wanted.

I hate starz for canceling this - it was my last show that was not cancelled - everything is canceled - why are you making shows if you cancel everything after one or two seasons -cancel cancelled cancel. What do you need to do to keep a show going past two seasons because great reviews get them canceled - 8+ ratings are now canceled. I don't even watch a lot of dramas, but this was a great show that kept my attention the entire time and coming from someone with similar emotional experiences as the show it was tastefully done it was nice to get some one else's way of dealing with hard situations - I wasn't surprised this was canceled only because every network is canceling every show that is good. SMH.

I know the show was on STARZ before they canned it but for those on the fence about watching it, just give it a few episodes to warm up to you. We know suicide is a difficult subject, but they do a good job showing the perils of all parties involved with the before and after the person's untimely death. Season 2 is well-written and keeps you engaged each episode with various characters feelings and emotions adding to it's entertainment value. If you enjoy wrestling, romance, comedy, or drama then this show is for you. Hey Netflix, let's get this show renewed so they can finish the story the right way and get more eyes on the product compared to Starz (no offense to Starz)!
I was unsure this show would work. I'm a wrestling fan, and I know how hard it is to portray the art form, and those who perform it. But this show continues to surprise me week after week. I loved Amell as Oliver Queen on Arrow, and some of his other work. He is perfect in this role and he carries it well but I expected that. What has surprised me is the talent of the surrounding cast, especially the women. Alison Luff, Mary McCormick, and Kelli Berglund are killing it on a weekly basis. There have been some awesome cameo performances that wrestling fans will appreciate and even former NFL star James Harrison is solid and entertaining. My favorite character is Wild Bill, who is played by the great Chris Bauer. The Wire fans will remember him as Frank Sobotka. I just remember him for always being a top notch talent, whatever the role. These great performances are aided by some solid storylines that will keep you invested in the show and the characters.
My only complaints would be the character of Ace Spade, played by Alexander Ludwig, and the awful opening credits and the song that goes with it. Other than that, I thoroughly enjoy this show. I hope it gets another season.

I enjoyed the first episode so much.. Great Pilot to start the show. I love Stephen Amell, he is so talented, and once again he proved what a great actor he is. Give the show a chance even if you don't have a lot to do with wrestling! It's definitely worth it!! Great music, great characters, great actors! Can't wait for the next episode!

As a lifelong wrestling fan, I really did enjoy the backstory and how they intertwined the "real life" stories with the "wrestling" stories. Far too many people look down on wrestling and a joke or fake but it really is a great relfection of life and society. Incorporating the family dynamics into the wrestling part of the show was done extremely well and truly sticks to the heart of actual wrestling. The actors did an absolutely great job getting the move sets down and goes above and beyond what a lot of actors need to do to make you believe. The one problem with the show is Mary McCormack. Not only is she just a terrible actress, but the way she plays her role makes it even worse. Anothet waste of a role, but knowing who she is friends with in real life explains her awfulness.

I don't care about pro wrestling at all and I was all in. Good story, great acting, and all the feels. Stick around for the finale. Just trust me. It slapped so hard.

Since early childhood, I've been a fan of wrestling. And since I was born, raised, and still live in the Southern United States (North Carolina to be exact), I've always been a fan of independent wrestling. Heels is a very fine example of the workings of a local independent wrestling organization, including a lot of things that happen behind the scenes (I know this because one of my best friends is not only an independent wrestler, but was also the stunt double for Diego Cottonmouth in this series). This show has a little of everything for fans; there's drama, action, a little comedy, and just overall consistent entertainment.
I'm not saying that this show will be anyone's favorite television show, but it's definitely worth watching and I'm looking forward to season 2.
