Rebecca Black is such a remarkable talent and a dazzling entertainer.

Unless you checked out after her 2011 viral video and the mindless hate that she received, that isn’t new.

What is new is Rebecca’s new hyper-pop track, “Salvation.”

The song is a joy. So, too, is the music video, which features Rebecca living out a nearly universal dream: becoming a young, hot, rich widow, possibly by dubious means.

Salvation (Rent on Prime Video) Credit – CBS

Salvation is a sci-fi mystery thriller drama series created by Liz Kruger, Craig Shapiro, and Matt Wheeler. The CBS series follows a group of people as they discover that an asteroid will hit the Earth in six months and destroy the planet.

Richard J. Bosner is making his directorial debut with Devoted, a new horror film featuring a strong cast. Mena Suvari, Skeet Ulrich, Elizabeth Marvel, Lin Shaye, Alicia Sanz, and Nick Stahl have all signed on for the project.

The movie tells the unsettling story of a woman, played by Suvari, who takes in her estranged sister (Marvel). Her sister is the only survivor of a mass cult suicide, and what starts as a hopeful reunion quickly turns into a nightmare. As her sister’s dark influence grows, the woman and her husband (Ulrich) find their lives spiraling into terror.

Bosner, known for producing Fruitvale Station and Black Bear, is directing and writing Devoted, which is based on his short film Devotee. The short premiered at the 2024 HollyShorts Film Festival and was also featured at Beyond Fest.

Terminator Genisys recast the franchise's iconic T-1000 with Lee Byung-hun, but why didn't Robert Patrick return for the role? Outside of Arnold Schwarzenegger's titular cyborg, the T-1000 is the most iconic character of The Terminator movie franchise. People don't talk much about "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles" these days. TMZ reached out to Dumont’s representative who confirmed what the actor already stated on their social media profile:

They identify as a trans masculine non-binary person. Their work name is still going to be Emma Dumont, but they will go by Nick with friends and family.

Transmasculine refers to people assigned female at birth who identify with masculinity, including transgender men and Afab nonbinary people.

The introduction of Darkness subclasses in Destiny 2, namely Stasis and Strand, was a big deal for the game. The game has a big arsenal of heavy exotic weapons but lacks depth when it comes to Darkness subclasses. While Light weapons have many options in the heavy category, players who prefer Darkness subclasses, such as Stasis and Strand don’t.

With only Winterbite and Salvation’s Grip representing Stasis and no heavy Strand weapons at all, the gap is noticeable. For a game that prides itself on build diversity, this oversight significantly limits the creative potential of players, especially those leaning into Darkness-focused builds.

On a recent episode of ABC’s 911, Bold and the Beautiful alum Jennifer Finnigan guest starred with a familiar face—her real-life husband, Jonathan Silverman. They have been together for 20 years and married for roughly 17 years. So, it was a lot of fun to see them play a contentious couple on the hit Ryan Murphy series that moved from Fox to ABC this season.

Divorce 2024 Style

What was fun about this particular guest star appearance was knowing that Finnigan and Silverman were married in real life. In the episode of 911 titled “Confessions,” they were a husband and wife negotiating a tricky divorce. And, of course, it was messy, toxic, and chaotic.

Silverman’s character had hooked up with his attorney. On top of that, every time he sneezed, Finnigan’s character knew he was lying. That was his big tell. Unfortunately, for the husband, that would be his undoing.

McG's 2009 sci-fi war picture "Terminator: Salvation" is an outlier in the "Terminator" film series, in that it's the only one that's not a time-travel story. James Cameron's 1984 film "The Terminator" was about a mild-mannered waitress named Sarah Connor (Linda Hamilton) who found herself being stalked by a killer robot from the future (Arnold Schwarzenegger). A human time traveler named Kyle Reese (Michael Biehn) finds Sarah and explains that, in his time, humans and intelligent robots are fighting a vicious, apocalyptic war. He also explains that Sarah is destined to give birth to a son named John, who will grow up and lead a successful resistance against the Machines. The Machines, in desperation, sent an assassin back in time to kill John Connor before his birth. Kyle Reese will protect her. 

The premise of time-traveling robot assassins was repeated in 1991's "Terminator 2: Judgment Day," and in 2003's "Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines.

Terminator Zero has the best Rotten Tomatoes score for the franchise since Terminator 2: Judgment Day, which, in addition to The Sarah Connor Chronicles, confirms that Terminator is better off on TV. Terminator is sadly one of the franchises where there are more disappointing movies than good ones. As groundbreaking as The Terminator and Judgment Day were, it is impossible to deny that all the other movies that came after that missed the mark on some level. Starting with Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines, the Terminator movies could never quite recapture what made the first two films so good.

On the one hand, it can be argued that Terminator should not have become a franchise and did not need multiple sequels and prequels. On the other hand, Terminator 2 proved beyond doubt that it was possible to take the concepts from the first...

The Terminator franchise has had a rough go ever since T2: Judgment Day. Terminator 3 had its moments like the crane chase, but Salvation and Genysis did virtually nothing to enhance the flailing series. So what about Dark Fate? After helming 2016's Deadpool, Tim Miller found himself in high demand. When creative differences with Ryan Reynolds resulted in the filmmaker walking away from the Merc with the Mouth's sequel, he set about rebooting the Terminator franchise alongside James Cameron.

The filmmaker had given Terminator Genisys his seal of approval in a featurette, sharing praise he's since admitted regretting due to what a colossal disappointment it ended up being.

While Dark Fate received positive reviews from fans and critics, it didn't make an overly impressive impact at the box office. Earning $62 million in North America and $261 million worldwide, the blockbuster was deemed a flop and the iconic franchise was put back on the shelf for what felt like the umpteenth time.

Cameron was hands-on with the latest movie, though, perhaps explaining why it was much better received than the underwhelming Rise Of The Machines, Salvation, and Genisys.

In theory, 2019’s Terminator: Dark Fate was supposed to be the sequel of fans’ dreams. After the misfires of Rise Of The Machines, Salvation, and Genisys, James Cameron finally returned to his own franchise as producer, teaming up with director Tim Miller to create a bona fide sequel to Terminator 2: Judgment Day – one bringing back Linda Hamilton as an older Sarah Connor, with Arnold Schwarzenegger on killer-robot duties, all while introducing a whole new cast of younger heroes. But despite solid reviews, Dark Fate suffered a… well, dark fate, failing to capture audiences at the box office. It underperformed, making just over $260 million, and remains the last big-screen outing for the franchise as of now.

But despite the film’s box-office struggles, Cameron remains positive about Dark Fate – particularly Gabriel Luna’s two-in-one, T-800-meets-t-1000 killer baddie, the Rev-9. “I think the Rev-9 was cool as shit,” he tells Empire.

Warning: Spoilers ahead for Beetlejuice Beetlejuice!Beetlejuice 2 might capture the wacky spirit of the original, but a lot has changed to the characters at the center of Tim Burton's 1988 movie. It took 36 years for Beetlejuice 2 to happen, with many different versions of a sequel in development during that span. A key to the sequel's potential success, however, was Beetlejuice 2's cast, specifically the returns of original actors Michael Keaton, Winona Ryder, and Catherine O'Hara. All three are integral to the sequel's story alongside Jenna Ortega's Astrid and Justin Theroux's Rory, who are both heavily involved in Burton's follow-up.

While the original Beetlejuice threw its character into some peculiar situations, Burton somehow found weirder scenarios for the Deetz family during their visit back to Winter River. Even the afterlife in Beetlejuice 2 seems bigger, with more locations and prominent lore explored in the sequel.

After two lackluster weeks at the box office, The Crow is eyeing a franchise-low global milestone. Led by Bill Skarsgrd as the titular undead vigilante, the reimagining of James O'Barr's graphic novel of the same name has endured as rocky of a road in theaters as it did in its development, garnering primarily negative reviews from critics and opening to $4.6 million at the box office, shy of its $6-9 million projections. In the weeks since, The Crow has only grossed a worldwide total of $18.5 million, well short of its reported $50 million production budget.

Now, Collider is reporting that The Crow's box office woes are continuing, as the movie has dropped to a $59-per-theater average. Though projections for the weekend of September 6-8 have yet to be shared, the ongoing success of Deadpool & Wolverine and the newly released Beetlejuice Beetlejuice do point toward the movie being unlikely to...

Warning: Major spoilers for Terminator Zero below!Over a decade on, Netflix's Terminator Zero succeeded in a key area where Terminator Salvation failed. The Terminator movie franchise has never topped the critical or commercial success of James Cameron's first two entries. There are a few reasons for this, though perhaps a key issue is that Cameron's Judgment Day was the perfect ending. It rounded off the story of Sarah and John Connor and gave hope that the creation and rise of Skynet had been averted. Of course, the sequel was way too successful to simply let the franchise die.

Terminator 3 posited that Judgment Day itself is inevitable, while the most recent entry Dark Fate tried to mix new protagonists with returning stars Linda Hamilton and Arnold Schwarzenegger. Each sequel was intended to create a new Terminator trilogy, but their critical or commercial disappointments saw those plans come undone.

Terminator Zero Showrunner Defends Terminator Salvation - Main Image

Any longtime Terminator fan knows that the fandom has long held the belief that the last good Terminator film was Terminator 2, and everything else between Terminator 3 and Dark Fate has been a poor entry in the story of Humanity vs. Skynet.

With Terminator Zero receiving sparkling reviews, showrunner Mattson Tomlin defends what he thinks is an underappreciated Terminator entry.

New Order have announced a “definitive” box set of their 1986 album, Brotherhood, out November 22nd via Warner Music. What’s more, they’re separately reissuing the 12-inch singles for “Bizarre Love Triangle,” “State of the Nation,” and “Touched by the Hand of God.”

The Brotherhood collection features nine unreleased songs and demos from a 1985 recording session in Japan alongside remixes and their contributions to the soundtrack of Beth B’s film Salvation. Among these tracks are the full-length version of “Every Little Counts” and instrumental versions of “All Day Long” and “Broken Promise.”

Also included are DVDs containing live performances at Brixton Academy, G-Mex Manchester, and Glastonbury, as well as TV shows from the UK and Europe — all of which are coming to DVD for the first time. Pre-orders for Brotherhood Definitive Edition and the 12-inch reissues are ongoing.

Terminator Zero brings some new ideas to the table, and in doing so has shaken off a storytelling issue that has affected the series since 1991. The Terminator movie franchise never bettered James Cameron's first two entries, with each successive sequel being more disappointing than the last. It took a dozen years for 2003's Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines to arrive, and all it offered was a lukewarm reworking of the second film. The fifth entry Genisys was an embarrassment, while the box office failure of 2019's Dark Fate signaled audiences had grown bored of the property.

It didn't help that each sequel planned to launch its own new trilogy, but when they underwhelmed, the next film would hit the reset switch again. Cameron is developing a script for Terminator 7 with a focus on AI, though the project seems to be on the back burner.

The Crow (2024) has a 64% audience approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, tripling the critical score of just 21%. The movie follows a resurrected Eric seeking justice with supernatural abilities to avenge his and his girlfriend's murders. The audience Rt score not only marks the franchise's second-best behind the original, but also marks a promising sign for the movie's box office chances.

Locarno, Switzerland — Taken multiple ways, 2024’s Locarno industry days proved hot.

Attendance at Locarno Pro, the festival’s industry arm, hit over 1,743 on-site participants and 141 online accreditations, an all-time historical record of 1,884 delegates, 23% up on last year’s 1,530 total.

Business witnessed a mini feeding frenzy from sales agents as 13 of the 28 titles without an announced sales agent at the July 10 Locarno lineup announcement were picked up for international sales by festival start. Variety alone unveiled 16 sales deals, also an all-time high.

Locarno, Switzerland — Paraguay’s Paz Encina (“Eami”) and three first time fiction feature directors – El Salvador’s Enrique Bautista, Cuba’s Rosa María Rodríguez Pupo, Peru’s Fernando Mendoza – split the big prize on offer at this year’s Locarno Open Doors with Encina and Bautista taking the lion’s share of a CHF50,000 cash prize.

The grant was sponsored by Visions Sud Est and the City of Bellinzona. Its winners – Encina’s “The Unique Time,” Bautista’s “Salvation,” Rodriguez’s “Her Lightness” and Mendoza’s “The Return of the Last Mochica Warrior” – were announced Tuesday at the Swiss Festival as Open Doors’ arresting three-year focus on smaller markets in Latin America and the Caribbean came to a close.

Open Doors main partner, the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (Sdc), announced Monday that the co-production and talent development program will now throw its focus for the next four years on underrepresented communities in Africa.

Please Hold is a 2020 short film that combines the real injustices prisoners in America face with the almost surreal experience of trying to navigate modern society's technological "advances". Mexican American filmmaker K.D. Dvila made her directorial debut with Please Hold after spending the first part of her career as a writer, working on the 2017 movie The Labyrinth and writing 13 episodes of Salvation. Many major movie directors have made short films and if the success of Please Hold means anything, Dvila will likely have a feature film of her own soon.

Feature film projects from Godland filmmaker Hlynur Palmason and Small Body director Laura Samani are among 31 titles that have received a combined €8.8m in the latest session of Council of Europe co-production fund Eurimages.

Iceland’s Palmason received €500,000 for On Land And Sea. Produced by France’s Maneki Films, Denmark’s Snowglobe and Iceland’s Still Vivid, it will shoot this autumn. Set at the turn of the 19th century, the film will follow a family which transforms its house into a raft and goes looking for a new place to live.

Terminator Genisys was expected to reboot the franchise, but its flawed execution led to disappointment. The movie did not introduce new iconic villains, relied too heavily on nostalgia, and its biggest twist was not well-received. With a 26% on Rotten Tomatoes and no direct sequel, Terminator Genisys missed the mark and was followed by yet another reboot, Dark Fate.

Terminator Genisys was released nine years ago, and it wasted the Terminator franchises best chance at a reboot. From a low-budget action film with a sci-fi twist to a billion-dollar franchise with six theatrical installments, Terminator has taken many shapes and forms since 1984. Both The Terminator and Terminator 2: Judgment Day are considered all-time classic action films, whereas all other sequels had lots of issues and could not replicate the success of the first two films. By the time Terminator Genisys arrived in theaters, Terminator had already tried to reinvent itself three times.

With the release of the newest raid in Destiny 2, Salvation's Edge, came the release of The Final Shape's raid weapon: Euphony, an exotic special linear fusion rifle. Salvation's Edge is the culmination of the entirety of the D2 lore up to this point, and it's only appropriate that it rewards lucky Guardians with such an interesting weapon. Any Guardian searching for this gun will first have to gather a fireteam of five other Guardians, then make their way to the Witness' stronghold in the Pale Heart to begin the fight.

Euphony is an interesting rifle, and has some powerful implications for any Strand-loving players. Its exotic perk, Unwound, spawns Threadlings at enemy locations after dealing sustained damage to an enemy. Its intrinsic, Spindle, increases the gun's damage as Threadlings deal damage. These two perks mean that any Threadling builds will benefit from this awesome weapon, but players will have to obtain it first.

Originally announced back in 2021, “Terminator: The Anime Series” over at Netflix is now titled “Terminator Zero,” and all episodes will premiere on Netflix August 29, 2024.

“Terminator Zero” comes from Showrunner/Executive Producer/Writer Mattson Tomlin (Project Power, The Batman II), and we’ve learned tonight that Timothy Olyphant will voice The Terminator! While you wait, check out some brand new sneak peek images below.

Rotterdam Tiger Award winning filmmaker Paz Encina as well as up-and-coming directors from Latin America and the Caribbean are among those set to present projects at this year’s edition of the Locarno Film Festival’s Open Doors programme.

The Open Doors initiative, Locarno’s co-production platform and talent development programme, is entering the final year of a three-year cycle focused on Latin America and the Caribbean. It takes places online in July and onsite from August 8-13 as part of the Locarno Film Festival.

Terminator Zero is all set to take us back into the world of Skynet, this time in the form of an anime series. Despite being set in the universe created by the legendary filmmaker James Cameron in 1984, the upcoming Netflix show will present a new take on the popular franchise.

Following the renowned Arnold Schwarzenegger 1984 film, Terminator has spawned several movies, series, and video games. However, the franchise has seen a steady decline in its popularity over time with some of the worst films like Genisys and Salvation.

Several fans hoped that the upcoming series might use its classic time-travel trope to give justice to the underwhelming Terminator films in some ways. Unfortunately, such a thing is now impossible as the showrunner revealed that Terminator Zero will not mess with the canon in any way.

Originally announced back in 2021, “Terminator: The Anime Series” over at Netflix is now titled “Terminator Zero,” and Entertainment Weekly has an in-depth preview this week.

“Terminator Zero” comes from Showrunner/Executive Producer/Writer Mattson Tomlin (Project Power, The Batman II), and Tomlin explains to Entertainment Weekly that the upcoming series will return to the horror vibe of James Cameron’s original sci-fi slasher.

Tomlin explains, “There’s a completely valid version of the Terminator franchise where the Terminator is synonymous with Jason and Freddy, where he is this unrelenting serial killer. There’s a little bit of Friday the 13th in here. There’s a little bit of Michael Myers in here.”

The outlet’s preview piece today also makes it clear that “Terminator Zero” is in-canon with every previous film in the franchise, and that the Connor family is not part of the storyline.

The trio of the T-800, Sarah, and John are the best characters in the Terminator franchise. Some later Terminator movies introduce interesting characters despite failing in writing quality. Reshaping of classic characters in later movies like Genisys provides fresh perspectives.

As the quality of the Terminator movies rises and falls, certain characters stand out as the best of the franchise while others demonstrate poorly written arcs. The initial conflict of the Terminator franchise revolves around Terminators created by Skynet being sent back in time to kill Sarah Connor and her son John because of John's future role as the leader of the resistance against the machines. Unsurprisingly, the series' main trio of the T-800, Sarah, and John remain its best characters.

However, some characters still emerge as worthy additions to the story in the later movies.

John Connor's death in Terminator: Dark Fate insulted T2 and lacked emotional impact. Terminator movies have struggled with John Connor after T2. Terminator 7 must handle John Connor better, finding a balance between old and new characters.

Edward Furlong, who played John Connor in Terminator 2: Judgment Day, had an interesting response to Terminator: Dark Fate’s opening sequence – and it shows how difficult it will be for Terminator 7 to revive the franchise. Several actors have played John Connor in different stages of his life across all Terminator movies, but the T2 version of the character is arguably the most iconic. Judgment Day is widely recognized as the best Terminator movie for multiple reasons, including the relationship between John and a reformed T-800 who was willing to learn from his human friend.

None of the Terminator films released after T2 managed to capture what made the 1991 installment so special. Terminator: Dark Fate...

Exclusive: Giancarlo Esposito, star of series including Better Call Saul and Breaking Bad, is staying in the criminal underworld with his latest project.

Esposito, coming off another turn as the sophisticated boss of a meth empire in Netflix’s The Gentlemen, is launching his first graphic novel.

He has co-created The Venetian, a story of commitment and sacrifice set against the backdrop of Venice’s criminal underworld.

Coming out via Gallery 13, part of The Gallery Books Group, a division of Simon & Schuster, the graphic novel was co-created by screenwriter Matt Wheeler and writer, storyboard artist Jay Martin.

Wheeler is working with Esposito on his next series, six-part crime thriller Parish for AMC, where he is a co-exec producer. He recently wrote the sequel series The Italian Job for Paramount+ and penned a series adaptation of Guy Richie’s Rocknrolla that was previously in development at UCP and Dark Castle.

The Terminator franchise features a range of models, from the T-800 to the liquid metal T-1000 and cyborg/human hybrid Series H. Each Terminator movie introduced new models with advanced features, such as the T-x with onboard weaponry and the T-3000 with nanomachines. Terminators evolve in each film, like the Rev-9 in Terminator: Dark Fate, blending T-800, T-1000, and T-x capabilities for enhanced lethality.

There is a long list of models that have appeared in the Terminator movies and the TV spinoff series Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles. Originally created by James Cameron in his titular 1984 science fiction film, the T-800 Terminator (portrayed by Arnold Schwarzenegger in the role that made him a superstar) is one of the greatest villains in movie history, although the cyborg killing machine quickly turned good in the sequel, the 1991 blockbuster Terminator 2: Judgment Day.

The Terminator franchise has spent the last thirty years chasing the high of the first two movies, and Linda Hamilton thinks it’s time to finally let it die.

Linda Hamilton starred in The Terminator and Terminator 2: Judgment Day as Sarah Connor and later returned for Terminator: Dark Fate, but she is not interested in reprising the role for any further potential reboots. “I’m done. I’m done. I have nothing more to say,” Hamilton told Business Insider. “The story’s been told, and it’s been done to death.“

Hamilton added: “Why anybody would relaunch it is a mystery to me. But I know our Hollywood world is built on relaunches right now.“

Writing a feature film is easy. All you need is one gimmicky logline, as cheap and single-serving-disposable as a coffee pod from the complimentary hotel room K-Cup spinner. Once you stumble upon one of these so-called “high concept” ideas, the script practically writes, sells and produces itself. It’s creative work for stupid babies, as all filmmakers will surely agree–totally unlike, in other words, the act of conceptualizing an entire episodic series, a demonstration of storytelling virtuosity so complex and adult it straddles the border between ancient Euclidean geometry and New Age witchcraft.

Okay, so maybe that’s a little extreme. But for aspiring series creators and showrunners, structuring a workable, potentially long-running television concept requires imagination and problem-solving on both the micro- and macro- levels–a mastery of tone, plot and characterization across variable interlocking units of temporal storytelling: scenes, dramatic acts, full episodes, multi-episode arcs and complete seasons.
