Exclusive: David Ayer and Chris Long’s production company Cedar Park Entertainment has acquired Evergreen Valley Productions from Founder/Producer Darryll C. Scott. The company will continue to create compelling content for and by people of color under the Cedar Park banner.

Together, the companies will continue to move the needle to promote inclusivity and diversity in all of their projects. This continues Cedar Park’s mission of developing original film and television stories in all genres with an emphasis on realistic, slice-of-life narratives.

This premiered at Oldenburg Film Festival and will finally be released next month. The film is about a struggling Mma fighter who becomes an underdog champ overnight. But he finds himself in a fight for his life after his one night stand is found dead in her home. A blackout, a dead body, and incriminating circumstances puts Ty in the middle of a mystery. The description compares this to Humphrey Bogart's noir classic In a Lonely Place, which should raise an eyebrow. Starring former football star Thomas Q. Exclusive: Gvn Releasing has acquired writer-director Matthew Berkowitz’s A Violent Man, a murder mystery drama set in the world of mixed martial arts that stars former NFL running back Thomas Q. Jones. The distributor will release the film day and date in theaters and VOD on January 18, 2019.

Isaach De Bankole, Mma icon Chuck Liddell, Denise Richards and Bruce Davison also star in the pic, which has elements of a contemporary noir. Jones (Luke Cage), the former NFL Pro Bowler who rushed for more than 10,000 career yards in 12 seasons, plays Ty, an unknown Mma fighter who beats the undefeated champ at a local gym. Overnight he becomes the underdog champion of the world with a title fight on the horizon, but when the female reporter covering the story is found dead, Ty becomes the murder suspect. Christopher Showerman and Cheyenne Buchanan have joined the cast of The Time War, directed by Neil Johnson. Showerman, best known for his role as ‘George’ in Disney’s George of the Jungle 2 is an action and sci-fi vet whose credits include TVs Supergirl, playing Tor, Agents of S.H.I.E.Ld, Lady Bug, Big Game and the upcoming Encounter with Luke Hemsworth. Cheyenne Buchanan is an actor, writer, and fight choreographer whose credits include The Frozen Ground with Nicolas Cage and John Cusack, Frost Bite, and the upcoming A Violent Man from Matthew Berkowitz. He has also served as the stunt and fight choreographer on such films as Apotheosis and Frost Bite.
