Exclusive: Freestyle Digital Media has picked up North American rights to the music documentary Jimmie and Stevie Ray Vaughan: Brothers in Blues, on the blues rock guitar legends of the same name, with plans to release it across VOD platforms on March 21st.

Brothers Jimmie and Stevie went from a small, post-war house in Oak Cliff, Texas to selling millions of records and playing alongside the likes of David Bowie, Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Jackson Browne, Carlos Santana and more. A portion of the Vaughan brothers film written, directed and produced by Kirby Warnock is devoted to Jimmie and Eric Clapton’s first ever on-camera interviews about the night that Stevie died.

Featuring newly revealed photos, home movies, and previously untold stories, Brothers in Blues takes a deep dive into the tragedies and the glory of the Vaughan brothers as told by musicians, bandmates, and friends from the early days.

Exclusive: Freestyle Digital Media has picked up worldwide rights to the music documentary The Mojo Manifesto: The Life and Times of Mojo Nixon, slating it for release March 17 across VOD platforms.

The film written and directed by Matt Eskey, in his feature debut, tells the true story of Neill Kirby McMillan, Jr., who comes of age in Danville, Va, listening to records from his father’s soul radio station and plotting his escape from the confines of conservative small-town life.

The Australian AFM entry directed by Lok Kwan Woo tells the story of what happens when strange, supernatural murders suddenly become the talk of a peaceful, small town. As two local detectives struggle to solve a deadly game, the myth of this game begin to reveal secrets too close to home.

Lok, Z Zoccolante and Yang Yang penned the film, which stars stars Elyse Levesque, Veronica Ferres (The Unforgivable), Gina Stiebitz (Dark), Vladimir Burlakov (Kleo) and Wei-Ning Hsu (The Victim’s Game).

In a statement buy, Saban Films has acquired rights to North America – along with Australia, New Zealand, Austria, Germany, Switzerland, Spain, France, South Africa and Scandinavia – on Bruce Willis starrer “Soul Assassin.”

Directed by Jesse Atlas, the revenge thriller also stars Nomzamo Mbatha (“Coming 2 America”) and Barry Jay Minoff (“Exposure”). Atlas wrote “Soul Assassin” along with Aaron Wolfe, based on their short film, “Let Them Die Like Lovers.” Jeff Elliott produced; 120dB Films co-financed the film with Elliott’s Brickell & Broadbridge.

Set to release in 2022, “Soul Assassin” recently wrapped principal photography. It turns on a former black-ops soldier who takes the place of a man who died as part of an experimental military program, in order to find out who killed him.

I wasn't happy that Laura became the latest legacy character that Days of Our Lives killed off, but I was even less thrilled about how her funeral was handled.

Emma Forrest is an acclaimed novelist, screenwriter and director. Born in London in 1976, she got her first break in journalism aged 15 and has since written three novels, Namedropper, Thin Skin and Cherries in the Snow, as well as a memoir, Your Voice in My Head. Her screenplays include Liars (A-e), Know Your Rights and Love Minus Zero. Her directorial debut, Untogether, premiered at the Tribeca film festival in 2018 and was released in the UK in July this year. Her new novel, Royals, is a love story that explores the power of art and the pull of family ties.

What inspired you to write your new book?

There was a different novel I’d been working on for about eight years.

Authenticity of experience, and the pitfalls of its allure, are at the heart of writer-director Emma Forrest’s debut feature “Untogether,” a tart, compelling romantic snarl about the iffy relationships a pair of tensely supportive sisters — played by real-life sibs Jemima Kirke and Lola Kirke — have with a couple of emotionally challenged men played by Jamie Dornan and Ben Mendelsohn.

A showbiz-adjacent story set in tucked-away hills of Los Angeles that become a neurosis-wallowing refuge for its quartet of characters, “Untogether” at its chill, observant best resembles what a left coast, smart-satiric-serious kind of romantic comedy might look like going forward as we wean ourselves of the influence a certain bespectacled, controversial New York comic auteur has had over the genre for decades.

Steve Waverly wrote the screenplay which Black Label Media’s Molly Smith, Rachel Smith, Thad Luckinbill, and Trent Luckinbill are producing with Trina Wyatt. A handsome relationship drama about four fantastic-looking people whose interior lives are something of a wreck, Emma Forrest's Untogether has its share of life/art parallels beyond the fact that the sisters at its core are played by real-life siblings Lola and Jemima Kirke. That excellent bit of casting, along with that of co-stars Ben Mendelsohn (the director's ex-husband) and Jamie Dornan, should make the debut feature considerably more attractive to indie distributors, who will also respond to its smart, uningratiating screenplay and polished look.

The story from Forrest, a novelist, centers on a doctor named Nick (Dornan) and writing prodigy Andrea (Jemima Kirke), whose one-night stand evolves into something more — though that is blurry and undefined. She is fully consumed with destructive vices, living in L.A. with her sister Tara (Lola Kirke), who is trying to end things with her boyfriend Martin (Ben Mendelsohn), who gave up his Australian fame as a rock ‘n’ roll god to be with her.
