After teaming up for the biographical period drama Queer, filmmaker Luca Guadagnino and Daniel Craig could pull the pin on an adaptation of Sgt. Rock for James Gunn and Peter Safran’s DC Studios. According to Deadline, Guadagnino would go behind enemy lines for this project before shooting his American Psycho film for Lionsgate. No deals are in place, but reports say Challengers and Queer scribe Justin Kuritzkes is in charge of the screenplay.

In “Brothers,” Josh Brolin and Peter Dinklage play adult twins who’ve been criminal accomplices ever since their jewelry-heisting mom abandoned them as kids.
You hear the pitch for director Max Barbakow’s follow-up to his 2020 Sundance phenom “Palm Springs” and brace yourself for the possibility that the two actors’ mismatched appearances will be the source of the laughs. Screenwriters Macon Blair (“The Toxic Avenger”) and Etan Cohen ( “Tropic Thunder”) have credits that suggest as much, while Hollywood has a history of turning out “high-concept” comedies like “Stuck on You” and “Twins,” for those old enough to remember the ’80s flick in which Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito played long-separated (and far-from-identical) siblings.
It comes as a relief to find that the gap in stature between Moke (Brolin) and Jady (Dinklage) is not at all the difference that “Brothers” intends to focus on. Rather, it’s their mild-versus-wild personalities and...

The second season of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power opened to big viewing numbers in the United States — just not as big as its first season.
The Prime Video series amassed 1.02 billion minutes of viewing in the United States for the week of Aug. 26-Sept. 1, good for first place among original series and second among all titles in Nielsen’s streaming rankings. Season two premiered on Aug. 29 with three episodes, and Nielsen says about 70 percent of the show’s weekly total was for those three, with the remainder devoted to season one. (Viewing totals on the ratings service’s charts cover all episodes of a series.)
The 1.02 billion minutes is down about 19 percent from season one’s opening week (1.25 billion) in August 2022. The Rings of Power ranks third among Prime Video series U.S. opening weeks this year behind Fallout (2.9 billion minutes) and The Boys (1.19 billion...

Daniel Craig has been in a relationship with actress Rachel Weisz since 2010 and they have been married since 2011. He had known Weisz since working together on Les Grandes Horizontales in 1994. Their relationship had experienced both ups & downs and a large part of their down times could be attributed to his James Bond role.

Craig started playing the 007 role in the 2006 film Casino Royale and went on to play the role in four more films until the 2021 film No Time to Die. According to recent reports, the Logan Lucky actor’s retirement from the role has done wonders for his marriage with Weisz.

Variety will celebrate the 10th anniversary of Bleecker Street with a cocktail party and awards presentation to Bleecker Street CEO Andrew Karpen on Oct. 5 at the New York Film Festival. Karpen will be honored with the Variety Vanguard Award for his exemplary leadership and extensive contributions to the indie film community. The invite-only cocktail party will also celebrate the New York Premiere of Mike Leigh’s “Hard Truths,” which Bleecker is releasing Dec. 6 in a qualifying run, followed by a Jan. 10 nationwide rollout. The film stars Academy Award nominee Marianne Jean-Baptiste (“Secrets and Lies”), alongside Leigh regular Michele Austin, and explores deep-rooted family dynamics with humor, pathos and Leigh’s singular view into the human condition.

AMC made a bet earlier this year that licensing a number of its shows to Netflix would help them find more viewers. That bet appears to have paid off.
Two AMC shows, Dark Winds and A Discovery of Witches, are among the top 10 streaming titles for the week of Aug. 19-25. They were added to Netflix at the beginning of that week as part of a deal struck in July to place about a dozen AMC shows on the service, complete with branding as the “AMC Collection.” (The shows will be available for 12 months.)
It’s not new territory for AMC, which partially credited Netflix for a huge spike in ratings for Breaking Bad’s final season and has also licensed The Walking Dead and Better Call Saul, among others, to the streamer in the past.
Dark Winds drew 929 million minutes of viewing for the week, good for fourth place overall.

After their critically acclaimed and audience-favorite romance Challengers earlier this year, writer Justin Kuritzkes and director Luca Guadagnino have re-teamed for Queer, and it couldn’t be more different. Surreal, funny, and most of all sexy, Queer challenges the audience in ways that will almost certainly ensure it is divisive, but are incredibly ambitious swings nonetheless.
Queer Review
Based on the semi-autobiographical novel by William S. Burroughs (Naked Lunch), Queer follows Lee, an American expatriate living in Mexico City, as he searches for connection and a drug that will unlock the power of telepathy. This is certainly Guadagnino’s most out-there film yet, sharing more resemblance with something like Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas than the Italian auteur’s filmography.
Those familiar with Burroughs’s work will know his dense, surreal writing style. The most notable filmmaker to adapt his work thus far has been David Cronenberg, whose trippy...

James Bond. Benoit Blanc. Joe Bang. These characters have become synonymous with Daniel Craig’s career. Now, Craig adds William Lee, a drug-addicted gay American expat, to that list in Luca Guadagnino’s sexually charged and fantastical love story, “Queer.” The film made its North American premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival on Monday, where Guadagnino and co-star Drew Starkey participated in a post-screening Q&a.
Craig’s sensitive and transformative portrayal of a emotionally fractured man could be his greatest performance yet. It might even land him at the center of the Oscar race for best actor — if the more conservative Academy voters aren’t squeamish about the film’s sexually graphic scenes or put off by its non-traditional narrative.

“Inside Out 2” (Disney), the biggest domestic movie since “Top Gun: Maverick” in 2022, finally arrived at home. Released in theaters June 10, it still ranked #10 at the box office last weekend — which is probably why it could debut with a $24.99 three-day rental and take first place at both iTunes (which ranks by transactions) and Fandango (ranking by revenue).
This week Netflix had three of its own original films among the top four, led by “The Union” starring Mark Wahlberg and Halle Berry. The secret agent comedy-thriller is #1 for the second week, uncommon among Netflix Originals.
VOD charts also saw Neon’s low-budget sleeper success “Longlegs” place third at both sites. This came after six weeks of strong theatrical success, with $73 million so far.
Unusually, iTunes and Fandango shared the same top four films. “Twisters” (Universal), last week’s #1, is second at both, while “Despicable Me 4” (Universal) is fourth.

This post contains spoilers for "Logan Lucky."
Steven Soderbergh rarely ever misses. The director almost retired some time back with the intention of 2013's "Behind the Candelabra" being the final film he would helm, but thankfully, that did not come to pass. The script for "Logan Lucky" intrigued Soderbergh so much that he came out of retirement to direct it, and since then, he has been steadily involved in several projects over the years, including the upcoming "Presence," which emerges as a brilliant entry in the supernatural horror genre. The 2017 heist-comedy, "Logan Lucky," is quite underrated when mapped against the rest of Soderbergh's filmography, but the film has made somewhat of a comeback, as it is currently among Netflix's Top 10 movies in the U.S. (via FlixPatrol).
This prompts the question: why is "Logan Lucky" suddenly making a resurgence? Well, for starters, the film makes the most of the...

As the new poster for his forthcoming movie “Presence” suggests, Academy Award-winning filmmaker Steven Soderbergh has done it all and then some. The eclectic and prolific filmmaker has pretty much attempted every genre: made popcorn entertainment like the “Ocean’s” and “Magic Mike” trilogies, acclaimed Oscar-winning dramas, comedies, (“The Informant”) compelling and comedic crime dramas, thrillers of all stripes, and low-budget arthouse indies like his career-making debut, “Sex, Lies And Videotape.” And for “Presence,” the filmmaker tackles the sub-genre of the eerie ghost movie, perhaps the closest he’s ever come to making a horror film outside of “Unsane.”

There are no sure things in this world, but a Joseph Kosinski-directed, Jerry Bruckheimer-produced sports flick set in the breakneck 200-mph world of Formula 1 racing sounds about as can't-miss as mega-budget studio movies get. Throw in Brad Pitt starring as a veteran driver seeking redemption and a supporting cast of Kerry Condon, Javier Bardem and the should-be-a-star-by-now Damson Idris (the breakout lead of John Singleton's FX series "Snowfall"), and Warner Bros. has to be expecting a global box-office windfall out of "F1" in 2025.
But aren't auto racing films a commercial crap shoot if the cars aren't animated or capable of gravity-defying maneuvers while their drivers prattle about the importance of family? Though "Ford v. Ferrari" was a hit for 20th Century Fox in 2019, moviegoers, particularly in the U.S., failed to turn out in droves for the likes of "Gran Turismo," "Logan Lucky," and "Rush." No...

The trailer for “The Fabulous Four,” starring Bette Midler, Sheryl Lee Ralph, Megan Mullally and Susan Sarandon has dropped, wedding bells galore.
Per the film’s logline, “‘The Fabulous Four’ is an uproarious comedy about a group of life-long friends who travel to Key West, Fla., to be bridesmaids in the surprise wedding of their best college girlfriend Marilyn (Midler). Over the course of one outrageous trip, sisterhoods are rekindled, the past resurfaces and there are enough sparks, raunch and romance to change all their lives in unexpected ways.”
The trailer sees Marilyn remarrying just two months after her husband died, Lou (Sarandon) coming out of her cat-lady shell and Kitty (Ralph) questioning Lou about a kegel ball Marilyn gave her. The four gear up for Marilyn’s wedding, although not without some bumps in the road, like Marilyn getting dethroned on TikTok by Lou.

The release calendar for new movies over the next couple of weeks could best be described using an image of a tumbleweed lazily making its way across a desolate road. January has always been known as a dump month for Hollywood but this year is particularly bad as so many movies were pushed to later this year (or into 2025) due to the strikes last year. But it's not as though we have nothing coming down the pipeline. To that end, Bleecker Street is bringing an original sci-fi thriller in the form of "I.S.S." to a theater near you next weekend. Can it defy the odds and become a relatively rare original sci-fi hit?
As it stands, the film figures to have a muted debut. Box Office Pro currently has director Gabriela Cowperthwaite's latest taking in anywhere between $2 and $7 million on opening weekend. That's a pretty wide range but even...

Being set around Halloween, Scream VI was packed with immediately recognizable horror costumes. Jason Voorhees. Freddy Krueger. Michael Myers. Pinhead. Not to mention Ghostface. They were all in there. But during a party scene, one of the characters is wearing a costume you might not recognize. It’s a knight’s suit of armor, but made out of cardboard. That’s the same costume the protagonist in the 2007 horror comedy Murder Party (watch it Here) wears. If you didn’t recognize it, then we have to tell you all about Murder Party – because it’s the Best Horror Movie You Never Saw.
Murder Party was the feature directorial debut of Jeremy Saulnier, who has gone on to direct films like the revenge thriller Blue Ruin, the neo-Nazi horror film Green Room, and the mystery thriller Hold the Dark, as well as episodes of True Detective season 3. Saulnier also wrote the screenplay for the film.

No one can say that Oscar-winning director Steven Soderbergh delivers the same movie time after time. In an eclectic three-decade career, he has directed crowd-pleasing all-star vehicles, action comedies, political dramas, micro-mini experimental works, true-life story (“Erin Brockovich”) and even a film starring porn actress Sasha Grey (“The Girlfriend Experience”).
In addition to his Oscar success, Soderbergh has also found success bringing his singular vision to the small screen, winning an Emmy for directing and editing the TV movie “Behind the Candelabra” (which isn’t included on this list of big screen outings). He’s also been nominated twice as a director on “The Knick,” as a cinematographer on “Behind the Candelabra” and as a producer on “Roman Polanski: Wanted and Desired,” “His Way” and “Godless.”

The film, tentatively titled ‘Oceans 10’, is still in development and has not been officially announced by Warner Bros., but producer Josey McNamara has confirmed that the project is alive and well.

Macon Blair is one of the great "those guys" of modern cinema, with a presence so memorable that you can't help but sit up in your seat when he pops up in a film. Seasoned movie buffs may point to his work in films like "Murder Party," "Green Room," "Logan Lucky," and "The Florida Project." A billion dollars' worth of people saw him this summer in a key supporting role in "Oppenheimer." Offscreen, he won a fair amount of acclaim for his directorial debut, the Netflix release "I Don't Feel at Home in This World Anymore." But the Macon Blair who made that offbeat dramedy is also the same maniac who made "The Toxic Avenger," the surprisingly lavish remake of the infamous z-grade B-movie from 1984, which put Troma Entertainment, with its now-legendary history of disgusting schlock-by-design, on the map.

This features footage from: "Girls", White Noise, The Dead Don't Die, House of Gucci, This Is Where I Leave You, Logan Lucky, Paterson, While We're Young, and BlacKkKlansman. I love that he includes one of his poems from Paterson (one of my all-time faves) and the way he integrates the back-and-forth Gucci convo. Hilarious. Heist movies are the best movies. This is an irrefutable fact. Stories about a group of people coming together and devising a plan to steal money, jewels, art, or anything of value from a secure location give you everything you could want. They're about interpersonal relationships, people being good at their jobs, sticking it to the powerful, and they're always filled with delightful complications and twists. In terms of big screen entertainments, they truly are the ideal genre, and no one is better at making them than Steven Soderbergh.
Of course, the crowning jewel of his heist oeuvre is the "Ocean's" trilogy, a star-studded triptych of top-shelf Hollywood entertainment that I could watch at any time. I even rewatched "Ocean's Eleven" two days before I even knew I would be writing this. Those films don't make up the entirety of the heist section of his filmography, though. He came back...

Rediscovering the boy she loved, now her grown doorman Anders (Spencer), and the life she left at 18, the mother and daughter explore shared history, unshared truths and find a way to face both love and loss.

Recently, Katie Holmes was reading Haruki Murakami’s “Novelist as a Vocation.” Within the memoir, which is composed of 11 different essays from the revered Japanese writer, Holmes said she found a story that spoke directly to her own vocation: director.
Holmes said she was struck by a story the writer shared from early in his career, in which he lost a floppy disc that held an important first draft for a new work. “He was so upset, obviously, and had to rewrite [this section] and thought it wasn’t as good as the first draft,” Holmes said in a recent interview with IndieWire. “Years later, he found that floppy disk and he saw that actually that [lost] section wasn’t as good as what he ended up rewriting. And I thought, ‘Well, that’s kind of it.'”

Driver rose to fame after playing a supporting role in the hit comedy Girls. His performance in the HBO show earned him three consecutive Primetime Emmy nominations. The star began his film career mostly taking on supporting roles in Steven Spielberg’s Lincoln in 2012, Inside Llewyn Davis in 2013, and Hungry Hearts in 2014.

Adam Driver has made a name for himself as one of the most sought-after actors in Hollywood. However, before becoming a famous actor, Driver served in the Marine Corps for several years. In a recent interview, the Logan Lucky star dispelled a common myth about military service and shared his experiences as a former serviceman.
Adam Driver joined the military after September 11
There are lots of actors who have put their acting careers on hold to serve their country. This was most noticeable during World War II, but it has happened in every war since then. One example is Driver, who joined the United States Marine Corps at 18 after the September 11 attack. The Marriage Story star served for over two years as a Mortar man with the 1st Battalion, 1st Marines, before being medically discharged due to injuries sustained in a mountain biking accident.
Driver has talked a lot about his time in the Marines,...

As you might be aware, "Daisy Jones & the Six" star Riley Keough hails from a high-profile Hollywood family. Though she had phenomenal musical influences growing up surrounded by so many professional musicians, Keough found her passion in acting after devouring "Moulin Rouge" and "The Dangerous Lives of Altar Boys" at an early age. Keough debuted in 2010's "The Runaways," starring alongside Dakota Fanning and Kristen Stewart, and she hasn't shown any signs of slowing down since.
Having several career-defining projects under her belt - including Steven Soderbergh's "The Girlfriend Experience," "Mad Max: Fury Road," "Logan Lucky," and more - the 33-year-old actor has taken on her biggest role yet as the title character in "Daisy Jones & the Six." Based on Taylor Jenkins Reid's 2019 bestseller of the same name, the miniseries chronicles the journey of an iconic '70s rock group to the top and their sudden fall.

Though you’ll undoubtedly forget many times while you’re watching it, Prime Video’s music drama Daisy Jones & The Six is not based on a true story. At least, not really. Adapted from Taylor Jenkins Reid’s novel of the same name, this series about the titular band was inspired by the real life drama of classic ’70s rock group Fleetwood Mac.
While Fleetwood Mac is very much real (and great!), Daisy Jones & The Six is not real (though also great!). Still, that does not make the Behind the Music-esque drama they experience in these 10 episodes feel any less real. Contributing to that sense of verisimilitude is that the cast of Daisy Jones & The Six all fit their roles to a tee.
Aside from the series two eminently recognizable leads (and a bit of Raylan Givens thrown in there for good measure), this series enjoys the...

Magic Mike’s Last Dance is a movie directed by Steven Soderbergh starring Channing Tatum and Salma Hayek.
Good old Mike returns with his sculpted abs from the hand of the director everyone loves for this farewell, not very spectacular cinematographically, but fun and entertaining.
Storyline
Mike works as a waiter until a rich woman takes him to London to, together, form a group of male strippers.
Movie Review Magic Mike’s Last Dance
Correct, very correct and knowing that there is a certain Soderbergh in charge of the project, but as not everything can be done by the good director and “one-man band”, he has his always good partners who accompany him: this time, same as always, Channing Tatum, a very good actor for comedy, and Salma Hayek, who does a bit of everything and does everything well.
In short, a film that, with the quality of talent it possesses, could...

Riley Keough turned up in Hollywood on Thursday night to attend the world premiere of her new Prime Video TV series, Daisy Jones & the Six, marking her first red carpet appearance since the sudden death of her mother, Lisa Marie Presley, on Jan. 12. It was quite the scene, too, as the Tcl Chinese Theatre was packed with guests dressed to match the ’70s glam dress code while Keough and her co-stars were supported by a producing team that included Oscar-winner Reese Witherspoon.
Keough, wearing Schiaparelli Couture and accompanied by husband Ben Smith-Petersen, toplines the series as Daisy Jones, the co-lead singer of a ’70s rock band. Based on the best-selling novel by Taylor Jenkins Reid, Daisy Jones & the Six details the rise and precipitous fall of that band, from early days toiling away at small gigs through a meteoric rise that culminates in a sold-out show at Chicago’s Soldier Field.
